- This game was recommended to me by a good friend recently. Just hearing about the game was enough to sell me: made by Capcom in their SNES heyday, street fighter style special move inputs for the mutant abilities, and a great soundtrack...sign me up!
There is an initial difficulty bump, but as soon as you get over it and find out the right tactic for each area or boss everything just clicks. To me, this felt reminiscent of the Mega Man X games where once you have the right weapon for a boss, they really don't stand much of a chance unless you really mess up.
I love the special move inputs featured in the game. The are really intuitive and make perfect sense for the special being performed...except one: I had to look up online how the upward kinetic card for Gambit is performed (tap up twice then press attack). The game reminds me a bit of the Ninja Warrior series, but with more platforming involved.
As you probably can tell, the characters I like using most were Beast and Psylocke. Ceiling walking and bouncing on enemies heads with Beast's jump d+attack is lots of fun. Psylocke's quarter circle forward + attack special is really satisfying to land all the hits with.
The OST is amazing, as advertised. I really enjoyed Cyclops stage music, in particular.
Played on the MiSTer FPGA using an 8bitdo SN30 pro controller; the settings were left at default.
The game gets two big blue beastly thumbs up from me, definitely recommended!
Thanks for watching!
