    Veeeery nice speed sensation. What was the actual speed? Maybe around 16-17 knots over ground with momentary peaks of 20?

    • @916S1
      @916S1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, hit 18.3 in this video clip, 19’s later on, and just over 20 a few times with the smaller A5 later on. Certainly record speeds for us, and not sustainable at night. Topping out at 17 down a wave happens now and then on Moores. We had never experienced anything beyond that. The Moore’s flared bow is very evidently doing it’s job here when it tries to stuff into a wave, but resists, washes the deck a bit, then accelerates right over the back side of the wave, up and over. Wild boats.

      that's actually True Planeing !!!....hull speed is about 6.25 knots you would have left behind semi-displacement, ( surf ), at about 13 knots.@@916S1

      aluminum mast 7/8th fractional....best with a dyneema laminate main, and low stretch main halyard also. ( mast insurance ) for those backstay tension times...@@916S1

    Looks great! How does it hold up with Mini 6.50 (21 ft) reaching 20kn?

    • @karlr6633
      @karlr6633 ปีที่แล้ว

      not even close, the mini is a much higher performance (and newer) boat. On Moores reaching is 13-14 knot peaks at the very best, and that requires favorable waves. Moores surf downwind at 12 knots comfortably, 15 knots excitedly, 17 knots 'holy crap' and beyond that 18, 19, 20 is hair on fire.
