    Where can you buy small parts like those nowadays? In the US, RADIO SHACKS are closing stores everywhere.

      I buy my parts online all the time. You can find the buying links for all of the components in the video description.

      The best places in the United States are Digi-Key(www.digikey.com) and Mouser(www.mouser.com). Digi-Key charges $6.99 for shipping while Mouser charges $7.99 for shipping.

    I have Led lights that look like yours, which 5 of them are daisy chained. I have about 4 sets of these going around the outside of the house. Last week, most of them is not working. They are not totally dead, but have dim spot glows. so out of 20 led lights, about 3 of them is normal, and rest is in limp mode. What could cause this? And I think using youir fix will fix the Led lights, but will the problem occur again in the future?

      Well, first of all, nothing lasts forever :) If they fail again you either repair them again or buy new ones. As for the dim spots, it is not the same issue as in mine. It sounds to me that some of your actual LEDs have failed and not the driver.

    I have a similar light that has failed due to a loose inductor, which is unmarked. Do the inductors in your light have markings on them so I can try to start with close specs?

      Hmmm I can't check right now as I have the light installed. You can try and replace it with a similar looking one even if it is not the same value.

      @@TasteTheCode Yeah, that's what my plan is going to be. Find one that looks similar and go from there! Thanks for replying!

    Was the resistor bad in the first place or do I think the light would have worked by replacing ONLY the capacitor (not the resistor) ??

      No, it was gone. It had burned all the way through. Usually these resistor act like a small fuse that blows up once something goes bad with the light.

    Pretty sure that’s a varistor not a capacitor. Big difference!

      I thought the same at first but varistors are marked with their product number and not nF.

    can't we do a direct connection ??

      @@TasteTheCode connecting the wires which are attached to led , directly to the plug

    • @TasteTheCode
      @TasteTheCode  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a big NO NO! The LEDs dont work on AC! They need a driver first to convert it to DC and limit the current running through them.

      @@thepronoob7923 no, you need a "driver" like he is repairing. I don't know the technical specifics, but it's been explained to me that it's similar to how fluorescent tubes need a ballast.
