Just received my half-year books with black cover. Absolute perfection! The monthly pages will be for keeping track of appointments and the weekly pages for planning my days in more detail. I’ll probably use the back pages as a commonplace book, to record things I’ve learned, new words, notes from classes. I don’t expect to fill up all the pages by the end of the year, but I don’t mind leaving blanks.

I also am a happy full year common planner receiver. My box too was slightly dented thanks to my mailman jamming it into my mailbox. Will be my every day carry work/personal journalling all in one.

The common is nice but from a size perspective I won’t really say it fixed that against the cousin. It would have been fixed if it was same size with the cousin without the quotes. So basically they just sort of cut out quotes and the labeling on the size but not necessarily keeping the dimensions and just removing the quotes and labels

I actually whimpered a little when you pulled out the box/drawer. 😄 Such a nice design element! I got notifictation of mine shipping two days ago and I can't wait. I'm currently using Hobonichi Techo for personal/fun journaling and a Weeks for work, but it doesn't have enough space for what I need. Really hoping that my Sterling Ink planners (I got the two half years) will do everything I need for work and possibly personal, as well. I think I told you before that I wanted to try the Cousin, but due to my disability and chronic pain, it's too big. Really hoping that B6 size of these planners will do the trick for me. So excited!

A lovely looking planner! Alway fun to see new ones. And YES the 24 hour spread in several Japanese planners is not helpful. This one is much better!

Such a gorgeous planner! I haven‘t received mine yet (perks of overseas shipping), but I‘m going to use it to keep track of all of my appointments and meetings, and I‘m going to use the blank pages in the back for a mixture of work and study notes. 💙
I received my planner a few days ago and I absolutely love it. I am going to use it as my everything planner but especially for my home and personal life.
Ive tried the Passion Planner, Jibun Techo, Leuchtturm1917 yearly planner and the only thing that has worked for me is Ryder Carroll Bullet Journal method I have been using it for nearly five years now and I highly recommend it

Wow, this is beautiful! I can't decide if I want to go with this or the Wonderland 222 planner
If you don't need as many back pages and you don't mind your weekends stacked, wonderland 222 is a comparable option! I also like the quarterly stuff that planner has as well.
The biggest difference between the two is in the way the weekly and monthly pages are arranged. The Common Planner and Hobonichi Cousin have all the monthly pages together followed by all the weekly pages. The Wonderland 222 mixes monthly and weekly pages: a monthly page, followed by weekly pages for that month, then the next month’s monthly page followed by weeklies for that month, etc. I prefer the arrangement of the Common Planner. Also the W222 doesn’t have an extra side column on the weekly pages for notes/task lists.

I've never used a hobonichi, but I've considered getting a hobonichi techo. I do like this planner. If bullet journaling starts to seem like a bit much I might consider buying one

Wow! I'm happy to receive my full year planner. I'm going to use it as a personal planner which includes household tasks, bills, goals, etc. I also have my cousin avec hobonichi for memory keeping and as a creative outlet.
If this notebook was A5 size, I’d probably buy one. Unfortunately, the daily breakdown not going the full 24 would be tough for me, because I work nights.
This is totally understandable. I think she might be making or have made an A5 size but not sure what the hourly breakdown is - I'd check out Sterling Ink's channel for more details.
Yes. I can tell youre the "try to preserve the christmas wrapping" kind of person. I wonder, are you also the "try to preserve the christmas wrapping so you can reuse the paper in such a way you hardly ever have to purchase new wrapping paper" kind of person? My nana and I are... Our wrapping paper has gone back and forth over the years so often it becomes completely unusable... Its so much fun. Would recommend

I just wrote over the quotes on the dailies of my HoBo. They’re light enough to write over. Still annoying that they’re there to begging with though. I won’t be getting a HoBo again as the colours and quotes are too intrusive and I am counting down to getting a A5 full year Common Planner for 2024!
People who write over the quotes are honestly gods among men lol. I have tried but it just looks too cluttered for me. Hence my love of the CP :) Excited for you to try it!

still not great to me - I don't get the logic of placing the day's page far away from weeks - it actually annoys me a lot. I want this but each week has 7 individual days afterwards.

I’m curious about the quality and weight of the paper in this planner and if there’s any bleed through, shadowing or feathering of specific pens or inks in this planner. I have never heard of this planner before but I am currently unhappy with my setup as it’s to big and not fitting my needs. This looks right up my alley and would prevent me from needing a planner and journal
Hey Michelle! The paper quality is good, it's tomoe river paper so y you will get almost no bleed through but a fair amount of ghosting. This planner is currently out of stock (though check @SterlingInk's insta for details) but it's comparable to the Hobonichi Cousin. It just is a bit smaller and doesn't have dated daily pages. Lots of people use the cousin for daily journaling though!

I was planning on getting her planner because I like the idea of the year on the spine and the different textured cover. BUT I didn’t like the gold, I prefer simple. I was hoping the common planner would have had the option to purchase silver foil for the year and letter and no foil on the pages from the outside. Am I too picky?
This is only the first launch! You never know what she might offer in the future. Since they’re a small shop I don’t imagine you will be able to choose your foil color, though that would be awesome. But I bet she’ll offer with/without foil next year.

yes, it is the Sanzen Tomoe River paper! I have a video comparing the old Tomoe River Paper with the Sanzen Tomoe River Paper if you are curious about how it has changed. I don't personally use fountain pens but people have commented of that video have weighed in on its effectiveness!

Hi Kristen! As I said in the video I got mine on a preorder and Sterling Ink did a few additional releases on Nov 18 and Nov 19 (today). It’s posible those sold out. I would head to Sterling Ink’s Instagram for more info.

Since you're commenting this after that, I assume you missed the sale! The pages look thin, do you notice any bleeding?
They are thin! It's tomoe river paper, which is an extremely thin, bible-like sort of paper. I've used it in the Hobonichi planners I have used and have not noticed any bleeding, but there is a lot of ghosting. You can check out my tomoe river paper comparison video OR any of the other wonderful TRP vids on TH-cam to see the paper in action :)

I have seen some people on instagram who have the mauve one. Sterling Ink herself also has been using one. Mandy Lynn Plans just released a vid with the mauve half year as well!

@@RachelleinTheory I usually do too as black tends to match with different covers better, but I wasn't a fan of the linen cover so I thought I'd try the leatherette cover instead. I was also surprised by the number of people who chose full vs half year. I tried the Hobonichi full year once, found it to be too heavy and have used the half year ever since. I figured the full year (with all the extra paper even though it's tomoe river paper) would be heavier even though it's a smaller size. Now I can't wait to see setup and pwm vids while I wait for mine to arrive. 😅 Thanks fir sharing your video!

I don't care for the light print. I love the brightness of the cousin way better.
What is the paper thickness like?
It's very thin, it's tomoe river paper, I think at 50 or 52 gsm. People often describe it like bible paper. It's very high quality so you wont get a lot of bleed but you will get ghosting.

I did a pen test on a sample of the Sanzen tomoe river paper (which this planner uses) several videos ago. It's up on my channel if you search tomoe river paper!
The crappy shipping packaging makes the product seem cheap.
Didn't look that much different from other shipping packages to me but unboxing certainly is an experience that matters for products!
I agree about the box - it was part of the product and should’t be damaged. Definitely interested in the 1/2 year, but I don’t think you can say it took care of the “problems” of the quotes as all of that space is now GONE,with the smaller sized planner. Bummer about the year not including the previous and next year; I need these all of the time for work. I would have to use this just for personal stuff. Looks beautiful, though.

I actually thought this was a prank, I genuinely didn’t realise people still used paper journals and planners. Each to their own, but I think I’ll stick with e-ink, less bulk, and single, rather than annually.
