    Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for. Got mine form Morebeer and it was missing nuts/bolts and had minimal instructions. I found a video showing how to set the roller gap, but yours was the only one to show how to assemble! Thanks!

    Thanks mate. Just picked up a 2 roller and thought I'd watch a vid before assembling. Glad to see the advice on the little side bits to the inside. Saved me a few minutes no doubt. Cheers

    I have the MM2 (the 2 roller version of your very close to the real deal MM3 is) and I can tell you assembly is virtually the same. It's a great mill, I'm so glad I picked one up a couple of years back. I've been using a cordless drill to power mine for the longest time. Just ordered all the bits to motorize it. Can't wait. Nice mill man. No more needing the homebrew shop to crack the grains! Gotta love the freedom and control of doing it yourself.

      Once I get a dedicated brew area I think I set up mine up with some form of motor too! Cheers!

    Thank you so much for the video. I can’t believe this come with no directions. I just got mine and this may be a stupid question, but I was wondering if you did anything to get the stickiness off the hopper. After removing the blue protective coating I find there is a lot of sticky residue left on the inside. Thanks!

    Old video, I know, but I'd like to know what is the benefit of a 3 roller mill over a 2 roller mill, or corona, auger, stone, steel plate, or hammer mill (the last five are typically used as flour mills)?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  ปีที่แล้ว

      I much more even crush that leaves the husk intact, exactly what you want for beer.

    • @TheHeraldOfChange
      @TheHeraldOfChange ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HomeBrewNetwork Well, my three roller is on its way, so I'll get to test it for myself. I have an Ankarsrum Grain Mill: which is auger style, like a poppyseed mill; and I have an adjustable horizontal stone mill. I used to have a two roller mill (didn't like it) and vertical mills, one of stone, one of steel, that were a bit like industrial corona mills; which are very common in Asia, but I've moved on since them. All of these, I found, benefited from conditioning the grain with approx. 3% water by weight prior to grinding to leave the husks more intact. Do you condition your grain with the roller mill, or is thee no need?

    Hi Gash. Great vid. I am curious as to whether you have noticed an improvement in the flavour of your beer when you mill the malt yourself versus buying pre-milled malt?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Royphex G'day! Not much to be honest, but... I am lucky and the Home Brew Shop I go to always crushes the grain on the day you pick it up, so I've never done a batch with grain that has sat around crushed for a while. I would think that it would stale a bit after a certain of time. Cheers mate!

    Which LHBS do you recommend on the Coast, Gash?

  • @saintmoz
    @saintmoz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are you still cranking this puppy by hand or have you chucked a drill on that sucker? If you have what drill would you recommend(I'm in Australia, so the harbour freight drill that most of the yanks is is not an option)?

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still do it by hand, only takes a minute or two, but any drill that has a bit of power/torque behind it and is variable speed should do the job, you may need an adapter or make sure the chuck opens larger then the normal 10mm. Grab one from bunnings, talk to some one, get a recommendation then you can take it back if its shit. Cheers!

      +Gash Slugg thanks mate, just got the grain mill, should work well with my biabiae(brew in a bag in an eski). • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I am, I can't tell you a measurement or setting, I set it to the grain. First time I set it up I measured, it was wrong for the grain I was using so I just went by the look of the grain and adjusted till I was happy. Was a little on the fine side because I was using wheat and its a very small grain. I've just left it like that but I wet condition my grain now and its coming out great with great flow through the grain bed! Cheers mate

    • @HomeBrewNetwork
      @HomeBrewNetwork  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use a drill, but milling fast is no good, use a slow high torque drill, the drills sold for paint mixing, some times called spade handle drills. Go as slow as you can . Cheers!
