Hi, I replaced my starter on my 03 Corolla for the first time back in 2014 with an original Toyota starter. It just got messed up today..2024. Is this normal for it to last this long? Also, can I get a different brand of starter or should I stick with a Toyota one? One last thing, is it possible for a mechanic to damage a starter while working on something else?
I have a manual 2003 sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. But if I push it it'll start I normally park downhill when I can so I can just push start itby myself. Do you think it could be the starter?
@@RBTheMechanic thank you sir for replying. One more detail, it won't jump start so maybe the battery is out of the equation. Also if will occasionally start with the key, but not always and it seems to get worse in the hot weather
@@bereshit12 ok then it could be starter but u need to do test if the starter control cable has power when u turn the key and at the moment it don’t start that’s when u will find the issue
I’m not sure what the click noise is. If u hear gear mesh grinding that’s no good will damage the fly wheel anyways can u make small clip video and posit it on ur utube let me hear it

That’s 10 years very good life time it did it’s job once’s it passed 3 years

Not sure about desel but might want to clean out throttle if ur starting it’s stalling

Yes u have to disconnect or u will short circuit the main power
