    PRO TIP: You can make as many Tiles or Windows as you'd like. The default sliders to up to a 5 x 5 grid, but you can just click where the number of rows and columns appears in the inspector and enter any number you want. I did 50 x 50 with no problem! They were small, but the point being you have the option to do any number of grids that you'd like. 😁👍

      Great vid, I may have missed it, but what are the steps to adjust number of tiles in same clip? For instance, a band/song that for part of clip 4 boxes, during chorus 8 boxes, then back to 4 (or up to 12) I cant seem to get the tiles from overlapping

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks! Go into the inspector and under the effect, you can adjust global number of tiles by rows/columns or you can adjust tiles individually if you change the little drop-down menu at the top to ‘tiles’

    I've been editing on DR17 with my computer no problem for the past few months. This morning, I updated Davinci Resolve. I spent all day trying to edit my video, and the video collage makes it SO clunky (like... completely unusable). I did the "5 step method" by decreasing proxy media resolution and am using optimized media etc, and that doesn't seem to be helping at all. This effect is making editing impossible. I'm not sure why, or what I'm doing wrong. Anyone else having performance problems as soon as this effect is used?

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Rachel! Thanks for checking out the video! Are you running the free version of Resolve? I haven't tried the effect since the most recent update, but that is strange. You can try going to the Playback menu at the top, then down to Proxy Mode and change that to half resolution. That might help with playback too. Also in the Playback menu, then Render Cache, set it to Smart. Also give your computer and Resolve a restart.
      If it's still clunky, I'd try creating a new project, then Select everything in your first project and CTRL C to copy it, then go into the new project and CTRL V to paste it in there. Sometimes files get corrupt or have wacky things happen with them. I found that a lot of times a new project file will help fix issues.
      Best of luck, hope one of these things works for you! Thanks for watching!

      Thanks man! For a simple split screen like that, I would probably just put the two video clips on separate tracks, then crop each video to get the split screen look. It might be easier to just do that quickly then to mess around with the collage affect. Here’s a video where I kind of show something similar but with four clips: th-cam.com/video/BuCXsHivTuo/w-d-xo.html

    Is there any way to automate the tile allocation process? For example like a multicam clip containing multiple video files, or for right now is it relegated to having multiple clips and adjusting the parameters on a clip by clip basis? I guess you could batch them by tile throughout the timeline, but still requires adjusting the parameters per tile.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say back of your database and go for it. I upgraded to 17.1 and now 17.2 and I did not have any problems along the way. I am on a Mac, it seems like maybe PC users have some issues here and there. Generally I’ve always had a good experience with any of the betas in the past. And I really have had no problems this round either.
      I can’t stress enough, back up your database before you upgrade. It is not backwards compatible once you upgrade the database to DR 17.

    Really useful to know about how those tiles work. I found it quite time consuming first time I used it but I think you have shown how it was intended to be used. I also use William Justice's grids which are also fantastic. Quick question regarding your Blue Yeti Mic - do you record an audio track in Davinci or Audacity while recording your video, then sync or do you somehow have the mic plugged into your camera? I have a Blue Yeti but never really use it as I can't really figure out how to use it best. Thanks.

    • @JasonYadlovski
      @JasonYadlovski  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dan, thanks for watching! For my Yeti - I actually record into my Mac using Screnflow for Mac. On my camera, I just make sure I am recording audio so I can sync it up, but I don't really care how good it sounds from the camera. In Screenflow, I export just the audio which I then bring into DaVinci Resolve. Once in Resolve, I also bring in my video clip then I use the tip in this video: th-cam.com/video/k8VMi83PCP0/w-d-xo.html to sync my video and audio. It's quick and works great for me every single time. Then I just do a little audio editing in Fairlight and boom, I've got some great audio. I love it Yeti, it sounds great right out of the box. Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!
