GRAVITRONIC - LIVE Aug 14 2021 @ Possible Worlds, Ottawa
THANK YOU to Possible Worlds for giving me a place to perform!
This set is 100% Elektron Machinedrum, using the unofficial x.04 firmware for more synthesis options. Almost everything is live synthesis and resampling.
All original music by Gravitronic.
I've been working on a live MD set. This is incredibly good. So good in fact, it's making me want to scrap my entire live set and restart
.
Don't give up!! Are you using the unoffficial firmware? It really helps for making tonal parts and has a bunch of additional machines and features. Just listened to your MD videos, they sound really good! If you look back at my videos you can see my progression, to make this set I filled my MD with pattern ideas and then whittled it down to the ones that fit best, then made a long "song" mode song that stitched them all together
@@burnsaudio3926 How long does it take to load the firmware? Nervous about installing it due to occasional random blackouts here.
@@AdamsOlympia maybe five minutes, faster if you use an Elektron TM-1 interface. If it fails you can still retry although I think the unit might not load until you get it all sent successfully.. can't remember. But even if it fails once you can reboot and try again
Dope performance. Was digging it all the way through
Incredible layering and textures of sounds!
This set is bonkers! Great work!
Amazing tunes! Love it! Keep posting!
This is phenomenallllllllllll
Got to get the Machinedrum out again now! Mono has taken over my life but my trusty MD can do all these things and I always forget!! Thanks for the awesome inspiration, amazing mix and creative uses of the machines 😁
woooo take it off!
Awesome set and work on the MD!
Awesome!
Thats really cool!
Great sounds and overall set!
Well done!
fantastic. I just got one, starting to explore it. what does x.04 firmware add?
Sweet acid sounds around 16mins! Is that from the unoffical firmware or original machines? Never made my MD sound like that ;)
Dope
How did you do the chords? Also how did you make the wobble bass sound synced to the tempo? Great set overall!
Thank you! So all the sounds were made inside the machinedrum using the unofficial X.04 firmware. The wobble bass had that track's LFO modulating the filter width, the machinedrum LFOs are always tempo synced.

Nice set! Could be twice longer. Lots of cool ideas
Loved it, starting to build a MD set myself too. I wonder if you had any tips for getting down the melodic parts?
Im on the X.09 but still wish there was a way to play them in as in the newer elektrons, maybe I am missing something?
I'm not sure if you can record chromatic MIDI input on x.09, but you can definitely do so with a MegaCMD module. I just had one build, it fkng rules, and makes the MD more like current Elektron boxes
@@asms_music417 I may need to take the plunge and order,.. It is so hard to find one here in Japan.
Is that the built in reverb or external?
100% built in. Also in some transitions I set the delay to feedback on itself to make a big "woosh"
Great set, uw or non uw
Thanks! It's a UW, I don't use a ton of samples but I do use the resampling feature like a looper to sample 1 bar of the playing song and then transition to a new song while that loops
What was the biggest challenge in creating the live-set?
Most likely gaining the skill to quickly write patterns and kits on the Machinedrum that sound pretty good and full enough to stand alone as a song. Second challenge was committing the time to take a bunch of pattern ideas and stitch them together into one long cohesive set using song mode. If you look at my other videos you should be able to hear the progress I made over the last year on the Machinedrum. A few months before this video something finally "clicked" and I started being able to build kits the way I wanted them to sound in my head, more or less.
@@burnsaudio3926 Great, thanks for the insight. Also building a live-set or as I call it “life-set”. Do you use a project where you sketch ideas and then order the patterns or do you create everything in a row?
Are you using the megacommand?
