The minute you realize economy class meals in the 60s could rival some of the business class ones today...
Yeah but also you have to realize that jello salads where the thing in the 60s which is now pretty gross 🤮🤮🤮
Business class has nothing different in food quality with economy class. Just more choice.
Last week I marveled at the most delicious 5 salted pretzels and amazing cup of water on a six hour flight from LA to NYC.
Flying must have been enjoyable in those days. They dressed so well for it too.
Have you seen the cabins of today in comparison? I’d think our ancestors would prefer flying our planes and you go right ahead and travel back to the 60’s.
I remember dressing to fly in the 80's and early 90's (on a trip to Europe).
To bring back the last part of your comment we need only dress up when we travel, again.
Airline travel in those days was EXCITING and EXCELLENT IN FLIGHT SERVICE
And incredibly expensive, you can still get this luxury service, it's called first class
Such an enjoyable video! Love the 60s fashion and fair!
this makes me feel like being part of a much simpler life in a much simpler time, if such a thing ever existed.
It did up till and including the great 1980s, then everything went to Hell!!!!!
The peak of South Africa. If you gave me a free plane ticket today, I'd hand it back.
Beautiful video beautiful stewardesses, beautiful planes, classy passengers and sumptuous food
Those people now travel on private jets! And the ones that used to travel by bus now travel commercial.
Nice video. This was way before my time. But I think I would have liked being a Pan Am Stewardess for a time! ha-ha! Thanks for the upload. ❤❤
Flying with fancy
Honestly we need those type of meals on our flights.
If you pay to fly First Class internationally, you will get these meals and even a seat that turns into a bed with a down pillow and duvet. But it will cost you well over $7,000.
the question is which is the better trade off: price or service, space and luxury
Now people fly in Pajama bottoms with slippers and a blanket and bring their own Fried Chicken. So sad.
Back when we could smoke on planes. Puff, Puff 🚬
them were the days & we knew then too. That was when traveling was enjoyable & getting there was part of the journey & adventure. Sometimes it wasn't cheap but it was always your choice.
Planes also crashed a lot more and we’re much safer today. The fist class cabins in today’s airliners are unparalleled in luxury.
@@JustinLHopkins In those days they had a bar were people could go get drinks like in hotels.
@@HowieHoward-ti3dx and those also exist on some airlines. These days, you can fly for much less than you could in the 60s and 70s, it's safer and you can fly first class to get the luxury experience, and these days, business and first class seats go flat into a bed, which they didn't back then
Better livin back then
The average person could not afford any of this, and modern first class is unparalleled by the offering of that time, business class seats become beds and first class seats are like private suites
Not just the amazing service but look at the passengers…so well dressed 😢
Liberty got us less discipline. Many old people still well dress outside and youngsters don't realize.
And no obesity, no tattoos, no baseball caps and no fake tits.
"But, but people now want to be comfortable on a plane..." that is their weak argument. You are not going to be comfortable flying no matter what so might as well dress nicely. Now you have dorks in basketball shorts with sweaty balls and d*** stinking the entire plane all because of the so called freedom.
All the b roll footage is ruined by the timer on the screen
Lolol we flew British Airways and they served us a Rocky chocolate bar and a bag of mini pretzels
A far better experience other than the people smoking.
Now airline companies just pack us in their planes like sardines in a can and give you snacks that you have to pay, and it tastes like carboard paper.
And it's also a lot cheaper now. I can fly Ryanair and go around Europe for £20 or less. For the price you paid back then, you could fly first class now, and that means a private suite, or business which will give you a lie flat seat
And no gmo food
1960s the height of society in the United States. Kids complain "oh i miss the 90s, waaaah. Or the 80s waaa. But in the 1950s to 60s if you were white you could actually get a job working tables or being a doorman or pumping gas and buy a suburban home and afford a brand new car.
Cities were at a normal population, and traffic was nowhere remotely as bad and the roads weren't beat up like they are today.
And travel like this eating with REAL silverware, no security checks, and jobs in advertising, law, and the humanities were thriving.
After the fall of unions, wages collapsed. I hope eventually the new generation rebuilds them and fixes the errors of the old.
But the ideals and options were limited back then and superficial like sexism or discrimination in race or gender . If we removed those norms I would have liked the 60s but regardless people had class before.
Yea white boomers sure had an easy life back than.
The good life was handed to them on a silver platter and they didn't even realise it.
And now they love to condescend on today's youth with they're "back in my day" speech thinking than life today is the same as it was 50 years ago.
@@Mrbg123 The unions fell after they destroyed every industry they communized.
that announcers accent
Economy class of 60s looked like today’s first class 😅
Foods are not that too different but how the passengers dressed differently. It's the old days, t-shirts were not common.
And it cost as much as first class does now. That's also just not true though, modern business and first class has lie-flat seats, which you didn't get back then
today, we have so much one time use plastics and trash in economy class... i would prefer glass and regular utensils, that can be cleaned and used again
simpler times... i wonder why they didn't realize back then how fucking insane it was that they allowed smoking lmao
I don't want to live in the 21st century anymore...
Hey, I'm with you... But we can't change that unfortunately 😔 We gotta focus on the future together, as much as I hate to - because I'm simply too pessimistic about our future.
Was this before people were more important than profit margins?
This was before it was cheaper to drive than fly to your destination.
You're crazy if you dont think these airlines didn't make a great profit lol
Notice no fat people complaining it's injustice to have to pay for 3 seats! 😂
You can smoke in the 60s now you’ll get put in jail for smoking a vape inside the plane.
It’s funny everyone is comparing this to flying spirit when they should compare it to flying emirates or JAL or Etihad flying on those are better
smoking on plane?
back when poor people couldn't travel. i wish i was alive for those times. now we are ryanair cattle with their assosicated noise and stench
I’ll take my 777 in 2022. Thanks.
Everything looked great except for the smoking. Especially during a meal service! Did you see that man blow his smoke during the first service? Nasty!
yes and no. ive never been on a plane before, so being able to smoke a joint, while flying seems kinda nice to me.
Yeah...he does it without a care in the world. Does it so cool and bad ass as well🤣
Ah, yes, the good old days of Apartheid, no? For God's sake!
I don't know that food looks kinda nasty and I can just see all those crackers and fruit and stuff flying through the air during turbulence, lol. And back then you had to be pretty well off to fly, now nearly anyone can do it and easily cross the United States on travel or visits.
@@michaeltalbott6718 Wow- umm, okay, someone misses the joke. Oh sorry, here let me post it in troll form as you did: okay SOMEONE MISSES THE JOKE
Fancy having to sit around a stinking cigarette smoker, in a confined cabin Yuk.
not impressed think i'll bring sandwitches and crisps
They need to re-do the video for 2022. Instead of wine and caviar, the passengers are hogged tied to their seats while they're forced to eat stale rolls and coffee that was prepared last year.
Don't forget the fistfights, being dragged off the plane and getting your teeth knocked out and armed federal agents having to press their muzzle of the gun into various passengers' foreheads.
I would LOVE to play the role of “Karen #1” in that film!!! I want to see the manager, so I can sign up.
What a load of nonsense.
Or look at the latest First Class suites on Emirates or Singapore Airlines. A lot better than the service back then. Airfares back in the 60s were astronomical when adjusting for inflation. You get what you pay for. If you want luxurious treatment then pay for it.
