00:20 - What is a hydrocele and why does it happen?
A hydrocele is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid between the two coverings of the testis. It is more commonly found in infants but it normally subsides within a year. In adults, it is found mainly due to three reasons:
It can happen due to injuries or infections or it can be due to epididymal-orchitis (an infection that occurs in the epididymis. It can happen on both sides of the scrotum. It is small and painless in the initial stages but it grows slowly and gives rise to discomfort or heaviness, cosmetic issues, hindrance in sexual activity, and proceed where the hydrocele sac is filled with pus which is a medical emergency.

Symptoms of hydrocele include scrotal swelling that is gradual and is not over time or distortion in the shape of the scrotum.
02:33 - Disorders caused by ignorance of hydrocele.
In hydrocele, the skin of the scrotum gets overstretched and gets thinned out. This can cause aberrations due to friction caused due to coming in contact with clothes or other regular tasks. If this is accompanied by poor hygiene then it can cause infections. If these infections are severe or if the person is immuno-compromised then it can become gangrenous and is life-threatening and need immediate surgical attention. Poor hygiene and lack of ventilation between the scrotum and thigh also lead to fungal infections.
03:55 - Problems caused by malpractices.
Some patients come in contact with doctors that assure them to remove the fluids with syringes but they only drain the hydrocele sac which is filled up again and when it is filled up again the lining swells as it becomes overworked. This results in poor cosmetic results after the surgery. Thus hydrocele should be treated as soon as possible when it is small in size.
05:20 - Treatment for hydrocele.
There are no such home remedies for this disorder and there are no dietary or lifestyle modifications that can be done for the treatment of hydrocele. Primary hydrocele has to be treated by surgery only. Secondary hydrocele is observed if the hydrocele is subsiding or not via medical intervention. The primary causes of the hydrocele are treated and if it doesn’t subside, then it is treated via surgery.
06:51 - Other dangers of hydrocele
Other serious injuries like testicular infections or even tumors in the testis can be masked by the swelling of the hydrocele. Tumors can cause low sperm count and can result in infertility. The swelling can also mask serious diseases like inguinal hernia which need surgical attention.
Hydrocele, however small it is, should be treated immediately or it can turn into a serious ailment.
