You do not need to do your avatar at first and going to Brookhaven and changing avatar at Brookhaven does not change this is what I do if someones new in Roblox though.
-help them sign in
-explore some games
-make them comfortable in the mechanics
-help them play an obby
-recommends some games
-explore the avatar marketplace/catalog
-tell them some tips
-show them how to get robux
-and help them change their avatar if they want to
-Tell them Leaving in Brookhaven will not change your main avatar
-help them make new friends
