    No, never click on the "unsubscribe" button in an email. That's how spam starts. Phishing emails will spoof legit services all the time and hitting the "unsubscribe" button will simply confirm to the seller that your email is legit and then you'll get slammed with more spam. Always go to the actual website of the company spamming you to log into your account and unsubscribe if you really need to. Otherwise, just click the "spam" button on your email service and move on.

      Again Drsch, it depends on what you are clicking on. Most legit companies are using mail services like MailChimp, Constant Contact or Hubspot. The senders have to follow their guidelines for unsubscribing. If they don't then they get blocked from sending any more and their accounts get locked out. If a provider like this gets blacklisted then their business goes away. So they enforce this very well. The point of this video was to let people know it is ok to unsubscribe. Spammers and hackers are much smarter now and have other ways of getting your info. Thanks for the comment.

      Agreed. Most spam are NOT from legit companies. They have no interest in following rules or guidelines for unsubscribing. Hitting the unsubscribe button will just guarantee that you will receive MORE SPAM. (Been there, done that!)

    When I click on Unsubscribe my spam doubles. I have been told that never to click on it. None of the methods I have tried work.

      @Clyde it all depends on where the email is coming from. Many newsletters use services like MailChimp or Constant Contact or something else like it. Larger companies like Nike and Coca Cola use larger email content providers. But any of the legit companies use a service. The process of unsubscribing removes you from that LIST and that LIST only. Sometimes companies have more than one List and you may be getting those as well. About three times a year I will go through my inbox and look at my junk that gets past the spam filter and unsubscribe. It works for about 3-6 months and then some other provider has sold my email address to someone and I have to do it again. I just think of it as trimming the weeds in the years. Something you just have to do. Other providers that do not provide the unsubscribe button are less inclined to remove you. Best of luck to you!

    Big trusted companies are easy to unsub, I'll make sure they're not spoofed.
    Spam mails that have "Unsubscribe" link is easy to to get rid of by using the filter.
    Edit: Putting "in:spam" on has the word makes this a bullseye but it goes to trash instead cause that's what spammers are.

      Good point! Most of the companies that use mail services can be easy to unsub from.

    But I’ve already got all these emails coming in it would take 1 million years to unsubscribe from all of them any other options?

    There needs to be an option to block emails all together especially spam emails. Cuz I'm currently receiving alot of spam emails which I never even subscribed to and it's annoying having to unsubscribe and delete the emails individually. I never subscribed to any of these emails so I'm confused to why I'm getting them and how these people got my email address
    How can I fix this issue cuz it's annoying
    My email app doesn't have block option
    Will I need to change my email address

      @@ibstayfly well like I said keep unsubscribing or get a new email address. You can also check your spam settings and increase the spam scanner aggressiveness. Increasing the score will mark more as spam but can also flag legitimate emails. I hope that helps.

    no don't click on unsubscribe ....that's how they get their spam email addresses..

    • @neadomtucker
      @neadomtucker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, that is not 100% true. I am talking about sites like walmart.com or facebook.com. All companies that use mailer services like MailChimp or Constant Contact have to provide unsubscribe links. This is baked into the system. When you click unsubscribe, it removes you from their list. By not clicking it you will keep getting these marketing emails. This issue you are talking about is true for most of the ones that DO NOT have an Unsubscribe button or are clearly SPAMMERS. There is another option of using the + in your email. like myname+wallmart@gmail.com this will allow you to know who is selling your information as well.
