I have just had this problem on my 2004 crossfire, mid life crisis. Your fix worked a treat and saved me a fortune. Thank you so much for your brilliant presentation.
Thanks for posting this video. I had the problem of the key not turning at all and took that piece out and now works great. Thanks for saving a ton of money.
The keyway is just a short piece of rectangular shaped steel and changing the size may or may not work. I can report after driving the car for 9 months that removal of the keyway has not caused any other problems for my wife.
Hello David I’m having problems with my 2005 removing the ignition like you said I can’t find the pin to push to remove were is the pin did you take the top panel off also
Sorry, It’s been a while and I don’t remember. There are other videos out there on removal that i followed to get to this point. I do remember that I refused to follow advice to drill anything in the car and ruin it.
What is the name of the keyway part you omitted? Do you know its purpose? Can it be filed down or modified to function & then reinstalled for its intended design?
Don't know the official name of the part, but shaving the pin down was the old fix. We have discoverd as the spring ages the slop in there can still cause a jam, and this removal has never been reported to cause any ill effects
It does seem like maybe just grinding it down a bit might do the trick. However, the trial and error of potentially having to remove and replace it to get it right doesn't sound fun either.

Thanks for this extra information! Moving the telescoping steering wheel out definitely gave me the extra room I needed to get this done.
