- This is the largest piece in my entire collection, a symphony that fully stretches all the capabilities of the pipe organ! It is written as a single piece, but divided into three main symphonic sections (with many interspersed nuances). It was composed by French composer and organist César Franck (1822-90) who is considered to be the "father of French organists."
"All My Music!" is my 10-year project to record all 7,500+/- pieces of music that I own. This piece was recorded on my Hereford Cathedral (England) Father Willis Hauptwerk virtual organ. This project is my "Magnum Opus," my gift to church organists and music lovers all over the world: Enjoy! --Daniel (Dan) Werning MCM, MAR
Congratulations on this amazing performance Dan: I am so used to listening to this on french organs, and even making a recording myself on a Hauptwerk/C-Coll. The Willis colours bring this to life in a completely new way - I am definitely jumping on board to explore and follow your project.
@jerrymartin79 Thank you for your comment. I agree that the Willis is absolutely brilliant in simply making great-sounding music on its own terms. In other words, I believe a French organ music purist would still say, "Well, it's not exactly an accurate French sound, but it is beautiful music in its own right." And that is exactly why I'm recording everything on this one great organ.
