This is how to actually fix a kia sorento door handle that has broken off. Stop do not take any door panel parts off as shown in other videos. Kia sorento 2012 model and yes put in handle piece first as shown.
From a 2012 Sorento owner, many thanks for this video! It helped a lot of us out! As was suggested by others on here, you probably want to re-shoot it showing that (1) You need to replace the long chrome handle piece first before putting the shorter cap on; and (2) You can (should) use a 10mm socket to slowly back the screw out and re-tighten it, when and if it won't come out using a phillips-head screwdriver (or drill bit). Again, though, VERY useful video, and you earned a sub for it.

I found your video today and will return to the dealership tomorrow and purchase only the little part that the bolt screws into and the bolt. Do you have a video for replacement of the FRONT door handle? Every video shows rear door which is much simpler than the front. Everyone says they don't know why video's show removal of the interior door panel. Well, that's because the front door handle has a lock and is very different than the rear. I'm trying to avoid removing the door panel as well, but don't see any way to get to the FRONT door handle and lock assembly without removing the panel.

I would recommend using a 10 mm socket with extension for the screw. I could not break the screw loose with a phillips, but very easy with a 10 mm socket. Thanks for the video. If only the dealership would have sold me the correct part. I need the Left Rear not Right Rear, but other than that, it was an easy fix. 18.00 plus tax in Dallas for the part.
Excellent tip. Unfortunately there is no opening in the side of the door (rear) of my 2016 Sorento. I had to pull the door panel, which isn't all that hard anyway.
To access the bolt (for the REAR door handle) he references in the video, you have to take off the inner door panel. Give a firm tug on the bottom of the door panel (use the pocket built into door), then once all the clips are free, the only thing holding the panel on is that it is hanging on the top edge. Lift up to get it off the ledge, and then the screw can be found.
my driver side door handle kind of popped out this morning. 2008 EX. Haven't looked it over yet. The part that normally pulls out a bit, seems to move the same but is no longer connected to the door latch parts. Not quite the same look as this model. But you give me some things to look at

Also, he needs to show that you can (should?) use a 10mm socket to back the screw out (and screw it in), since the screw is usually put on super tight at the factory.
Yeah the whole reason I watched this video was to see how he got them both in. I can’t get the screw to catch the threads with the long handle in place, but I can’t get the long handle in with the short piece already bolted on
@@cameronmoore6364 Im pretty mechanically inclined, I work in a shop and build my own stuff at home. I actually forget how I was able to get it, but I did successfully get it without doing it that way
Local Kia Dealership told me it would take an hour for labor and cost $115 and that doesn't include the cost of the part (which they said was $24). I found the part online for $16 so I will be trying this myself.
So my door handle broke on the inside when I “popped” the handle back inside. The screw wasn’t lined up well with the small piece and this method seemed like it would make it work.
The NHTSA issued a TSB (NHTSA ID: 10123323 TSB ID: TSBBOD173) for this problem on the Kia Niro. My dealer (Rosen Kia Milwaukee) acted like they had never heard of this problem before. They had to order a part. Despite my insistence that I could install, they refused to give me the part because "they need to install it if it's part of a TSB". They have no open service appointments for three weeks.
Did you use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screw because on my 2013 Kia Rio, it's clear the screw wasn't designed specifically for it to be removed by a Philips head screwdriver.
screw literally doesn't budge. got a "gold" piece attached to end of it, which looks like its from the cap... such a simple repair that is driving me nuts... any suggestions.

DONT LOSE THE SCREW!!!! the screw on mine fell down inside the door panel as I put the new cap on and I cant get it out. can find it to purchase ANYWHERE on the internet. junkyard wants to sell me a whole $300 door instead of just 1 screw.
@@remyedwa1775 Just had friend of mine jury rig a solution with a bolt that was too long and a nut and lock washer. the head sticks out from the connector, but since it is inside the door, it doesn't interfere with operation and you cant see it.
Would have worked great but my screw doesn't line up with the new cap 🙄... This is why I buy American vehicles. Last Kia POS my wife will own. Careful, our sunroof just exploded the other day too.
Now you know why Kias are so cheap--because they're cheap! Three of four handles have broken on my 2012 Sorento. They have "upgraded" the parts, and you now have to replace the entire door handle assembly. The old style parts are no longer available. You cannot replace just the rear cap anymore unless you have the "upgraded" door handle assembly. This is how Kia makes up for selling their cars cheaply--through expensive parts.

Yes! 1,000 times YES! You'll break the long chrome handle if you try and push it back toward the door AFTER you screw in the shorter chrome cap!

2017 has no hole on back doors only front

I used a Philip'shead long screwdriver through the hole. The screw on mine is for sure Philip'shead
I have a 2018 Niro and the screw is not a Phipps it's like a plus sign that seems to be designed so you have to have a specific type of screw driver

Handle first, then corner piece. If you try it the other way around, you are likely to break the handle.
