This is just crazy beautiful. It’s hard to imagine so much time and effort for something you don’t get to keep! Also, that square-drill-chisel-thing?!?!
Mark, A few years back I started watching your videos and thought this was the guy I wanted to learn from. I bought almost every Festool product that I saw you use. Then something happened between you and Festool and you stopped using Festool products almost all together. I just happened to run across this video and said I need to see what Mark has been up too. Well, I was pleased to see you using some Festool products. I sincerely love my Festool tools. I find that it is fun to use this tools rather than heavy machinery. I will continue to watch you now because you are using Festool products again. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Very nice. You've inspired me to make something similar. Also to look into green and green. 👍 At the beginning of the video you refer to the bandsaw blade guide as a safety device and say that you lower it to protect your fingers. But it isn't a safety device and offers no protection to your fingers. I believe it is there to help prevent the blade wandering along the grain when ripping and so should always be dropped down to just above the work. Thanks for posting this, I'm often asked to make entrance storage seats and will try to make some simpler versions of this.
240 pages of b w, and color pics. History of G G as well as the Hall Bros. Hall Brosnan actually did all building , while Greene and Greene drew plans. Have fun researching this book. I purchased from Edward R. Hamilton, Bookseller several yrs ago. Hope this helps. I have learned from your video, adding to my dim knowledge. I built, blanket chest w hidden drawer in base end, G,G drafting table, dinning table, and night stands. My favorite in w w.
I think we should start calling these arts and craft pieces as they are made by a craftsman or we could call it modern craftsman. It is not factory made and is made by an individual. Maybe in the video title he should dropped the inspired part and just give it a name. I think a new movement needs to start out there of some form. Modern society is so boring and does not really have a spirit of design like past periods of culture. In 100 years time we will be forgotten to be honest.
This may be my favorite original design of yours ever. Love it. Usually G&G is too much for me but the way you dial it back (like with the Guild G&G blanket chest...another favorite which I just had to buy the plans for, came out great) makes it really special.
Details: very Greene & Greene. Proportions: very Asian. Results: beautiful hybrid. Hey, man, I been at this 40 years, I've worked with ebony before, but I hadn't figured on how easy it could be to make those beautiful ebony buttons. Thanks for teaching me!
Maybe an odd comment, but as a new wood worker, thanks for disclosing timelines. I find myself awful at estimating the time required for this stuff. Beautiful work. Things to aspire to.
So glad you are making videos again! Hopefully I'll be at Friday live tomorrow if I can recover from my 2nd kid starting kindergarten tomorrow! All this sawdust in my eyes.
Beautiful piece. I'm glad you mentioned finishing the panels before assembly. I see too many woodworkers finish after and wonder how long before shrinkage exposes unfinished wood.
I really like this! You find such a good balance of curves and square corners without over-doing either! No durable finish (like poly) to protect a piece that you're inviting all the contact and use to? How does Rubio hold up to daily use like that?
Great video Marc. I learned several different techniques from this project. The ebony plug portion was a real eye opener for me. It would have saved me a lot "weeping and gnashing of teeth" had I seen it earlier. Thank you again for sharing what you have learned.
I think we have to start calling these pieces arts and craft because they are clearly made by a craftsman. We could call it Arts and Craft in Greene and Greene style. Like we do not call a Parka jacket a Parka styled jacket. Now we could also call these pieces modern craftsman. Or modern Crafts for the politically correct.
Mark, this is a stunning piece~!! I too love the Greene & Greene style. I was ready to go straight to the Guild page to look up the plans until I saw your link containing my favorite 4-letter "F-word"......FREE~!! (Yeah, you were thinking the other one, huh? FOOD~! LOL) Beautiful work (as usual) and thanks for the plans~!!
Thanks. This looks like a great design for my last of four hope chests for my great nieces. I've built a Stickley, a FLW Prairie and Farm House inspired ones. This will fill the list perfectly especially as I was looking for a different style and wood.
hi mark i have been watching your video's for inspiration since you began. one thing i have noticed is that you always feed your timber through the thicknesser in the middle. when i trained my gaffer taught me to always start on one side and then feed the pieces through offset from the last so that you use the entire blade. this way the blades wear evenly and you save a ton of money in sharpening.
Hi Marc it is great to see you doing projects. You do real nice work I know it takes a lot more work to make the project videos. I have been watching your channel for a long time I was watching wood talk one day. And I made the comment I would like to see more project videos then one of your key board person said this was wood talk not a project channel. But when I subscribed to your channel you were doing project. TH-cam is the one that put everything out there and they don't care if is wood talk or projects. So I unsubscribed from wood talk but as for TH-cam does not care. So for the Key board if you can't say something nice keep it to your self. Marc Keep up the great videos and have a great week.
Great job Marc. I personally think it's a disservice not to teach someone the most efficient way to do something when possible, but i think you did a great job with this one working efficiently and properly. Beautiful end product. 👍
Very Nice piece, Love the color. Only thing I would do diff is to have the panels be a shade or two lighter than the Rails and Legs. And possibly Mirror at least the front facing legs and panels. If there are no major issues on the grain to be mirrored. Did you use the MonoCoat? didn't see you doing a clear finish. I've only used the ones designed for flooring, and Those may take a few days to dry.
This is our Oil Plus 2C which works on furniture as well as floors. It colors and protects in one coat. We also come in over 50 colors. This one is "Mahogony". Check out our website for more info!

The Wood Whisperer you sir are a gentleman and a scholar
Beautiful job Mark, I appreciate the free plans.. I downloaded them to humour myself that I will ever have enough talent to use them... lol. Thanks.
You have a wonderful traditional sense of style Mr . Marc ps. You could do a lot worse than G& G 😂
I watched this before but it keeps popping up in my feed. So I watch it again, possibly your most beautiful piece of work I have seen.
It's a indescribable pleasure to watch a professional mastering tools and materials in such a way.
This is why I watch your videos because you are an amazing woodworker.
This is just crazy beautiful. It’s hard to imagine so much time and effort for something you don’t get to keep! Also, that square-drill-chisel-thing?!?!
You both have such great channels! Thanks for all the inspiration Make Something & Wood Whisper!
Make Something Thanks brother. I’ve gotten used to not keeping things. I’d need a much bigger house to keep it all 😂
The Blacker House is really spectacular !
Beautiful piece of furniture, amazing job 👏
That design would make a phenomenal desk.
Absolutely beautiful piece of furniture and craftmanship.
Awesome job!!!
Lifelong admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright and Mission styling.
Greene and Greene are a new addition to that.

Very impressive and professional woodworking👍🏻
This is a stunning piece. Whoever or whatever inspired it, it came out fantastic. Also you have a beast of a jointer!

Thumbs up for the sarcastic reference to the obnoxious “Nailed It!”.
Nice build. Love the finish and ebony plugs

A great looking bench to last a long time.

Beginners' mistake.
Wow! This piece is easily described as Meticulous Perfection in my humble opinion. Thanks for sharing! Its quite inspiring.
It looks fantastic, Marc! I'm always amazed at how you can break down something that looks complicated like this into simple steps. Thank you!
That is a stunning piece.
WW project number 89 added to my list to build!
Very nice! I love green and green and I plan to give this a go.
Gorgeous. Simply beautiful work.
Wheeew!! At least it was 2 men-five days. Now I won't feel so bad when it takes me; ONE Man- 5 years to build this! Spectacular job! DD
I really like this! You find such a good balance of curves and square corners without over-doing either! No durable finish (like poly) to protect a piece that you're inviting all the contact and use to? How does Rubio hold up to daily use like that?
Runio is a floor finish. So, it holds up pretty well. :)
What a beautiful build. Thanks for the plans.
i just passed the 1 min mark of the video. the design is marvelous!
Nicely done Mr Whisperer.....
Green and Green is one of my favorite styles !
Beautiful, as always, Marc.
Thanks James.
OK Marc, I’m inspired. Not too long ago I mentioned to my wife that we need something like this and now you’ve made one. Thanks for the inspiration.
Beautiful piece...
Very nice design, thanks for sharing...
Awesome build Marc. Thanks for using our product!
Rubio Monocoat USA I'm definitely considering using it on an upcoming project because I saw it here!
Great video Marc. I learned several different techniques from this project. The ebony plug portion was a real eye opener for me. It would have saved me a lot "weeping and gnashing of teeth" had I seen it earlier. Thank you again for sharing what you have learned.
Beautiful art piece Marc, good job
Good looking bench. I really like Greene & Greene style. You should make your next project a Stickley style piece.
I think we have to start calling these pieces arts and craft because they are clearly made by a craftsman. We could call it Arts and Craft in Greene and Greene style.
Like we do not call a Parka jacket a Parka styled jacket.

That is a knock out piece of furniture, man!
I like greene and greene, but i will stick to my usual......black and blue. One of your best. Fantastic work
Nicely done gentlemen 👌

Really good tip with the legs!

Tayler Made I do use the center most often but the outsides still get used. You usually only get to see a few boards and a few passes.
Sir....One Day I may be as good as you.. today isn't that day...good work my friend.
That really is a beautiful piece o' furniture. Great job!
As always , absolutely B-E-A-UTIFUL craftmanship !

Spectacular work mate, you are filling the hole that Doucette & Wolfe left in my life.
I just love your work, an inspiration to us all.
Woah! That re-taping the leg to get the second curve! #genius #thanksforsharing

I'm not a G&G fan but I'm loving the look of this. The extended overhang and the gentle curves. Keep it up you two!
