- Sing along with the lyric video. UTSAV is based on 2nd-century BC Sanskrit play, Mrichakatika (The Little Clay Cart) by Shudraka. The story is about a courtesan, Vasantsena (Rekha), and her chance meeting with a poor Brahmin man, Charudutt (Shekhar Suman), in Ujjain.
This song marks the introduction of Charudutt with Vasantsena, who is hiding from the attentions of Samsthanak. The sensitivity of the poetry and the poor status of the poet adds to the romance that attracts the most-sought-after courtesan to the poor Brahmin man.

The play is based on the life of Vasantsena (played by Rekha) during 3rd Century AD Ujjain city.
Vatsyayana (played by Amjad Khan) is also shown in the movie who is in the process of writing Kama Sutra. However, Vatsyayana is not mentioned in the original play.
