King of the Wind, the Story of the Godolphin Arabian by Marguerite Henry, yes, read again as an adult. Thanks for the trip back to Knole, my late Mom so loved seeing the deer in the park when we were there in 1995.
i NEED one of those flasks as i take hot water in a flask and a travel cup to the cinema as it doesn’t have a decent cup… this is a game changer plus love the retro vibes
Happy New Year! I loved the 'Little House on the Prairie' books as a kid & I think they still hold up today when you're in the mood for something wholesome & comforting. Sending warm New Year vibes from Australia to you & yours :)
I loved Matilda - I re-read it so many times as a child and re-read it as an adult a few years ago. But, I tried to watch the musical the other day and suddenly thought 'hang on, is this laughing at working class people?' In that sneery way that David Walliams does? Sometimes it's best not re-visit childhood favourites as you might find that they are problematic.
Happy new year! The soles on hiking boots are often solid enough or have very little cushioning, which is great for up a boggy mountain, but horrible for solid pathways. Try a cushioned insole insert or even trail runners for walking any distance terrain like this. Save your feet from anguish!
Happy new year! I am excited to see that you are going to cook from that Jamie Oliver book, which I have. It’s inspired me to get it back out from the back of the cupboard. Our fave recipe from that was pregnant jool’s pasta which is real comfort food. Looking forward to cooking along with you during the year.
Happy New Year! My favorite book series as a child was the All of A Kind Family books by Sydney Taylor. I have reread them as an adult and still love them. 💕📚
Lovely spending time with you Lauren, I can highly recommend the brand Darn Tough for hiking socks, we have hiked so much in the last few years and they really hold up! They also have a lifetime warranty so if you get a hole in one you simply send them back and they will send you a new pair. I'm not paid to sell them I just really love them 😆
Hope David is feeling better again by now. My favorite book(s) was the Nancy Drew series. I reread them in 2024 as it was the worst year of my life and needed the comfort. Yes, I still love her!! 💛
The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster was, and still is, one of my favorite books. I try and read it every year and now Rainn Wilson does a great audiobook narration. The wordplay is so clever and the life lessons abound!
What a way to start the Friday vlog year🎉 loved this vlog, so much new inspiration for the year, thank you😊 I’m a bit envious when it comes to nature walks - it’s so pretty where you live🤩
Happy New Year to you and David and Daphne. Shy Creatures sounds fabulous, I’m going to listen to it. It is lovely to have lighter days since the solstice, it’s really noticeable and about 3 minutes lighter each day. I’m old so Enid Blyton was my first love. The famous five were my favourites and Five on Kirren island was my first book which I still love. I enjoyed your walk. I feel like I need a rest now 😊
The 1st big book I read as a child was Watership down and the emotions I felt throughout have not changed. As I reread a couple of times. Happy New Year 🎊
Happy New Year Lauren! My favourite book as a child was Michael Morpurgo's Kensuke's Kingdom (Or maybe Cookie by Jaqueline Wilson) I haven't re read either!
Happy new year to you both! Lovely seeing your walk and looking forward to others in the future. My fave book as a child was George's Marvelous Medicine by Dahl. It was the first time I had ever read about a child who was a potion maker like me! (I thought no one else made up crazy mixes of household items and I was unique until then.) Lovely food Lauren, but SO MANY ingredients! I will miss the cakes and bakes, but looking forward to new non-meaty meals. 💙
Happy New Year to you both! I really enjoyed Shy Creatures too. I went to an author event with Clare Chambers and it was lovely to hear her talk about this book 😊.
My favourite books as a child were Heidi and The BFG. I haven’t read them back as an adult but I think I’d always love a Roald Dahl! I dislike Turkish delight and I think it’s cos of the witch in lion, witch and the wardrobe 😂😂
Lovely to go back to Knowle Park with you (albeit virtually this time!). ❤ If you want a walking sock recommendation, I swear by 'Bridgedale Women's Lightweight Coolmax Comfort Boot' so comfy! xxxx

your dinner looked delish, i use bouillon too and have learned i have to use less too as it can be salty 😊
My favorite book as a child was James and the Giant Peach. I have reread it as an adult and still love it ❤. Happy New Year!

Favourite Childhood book was “Swallows and Amazons” and I haven’t read it since but it’s on my shelf to reread it again this summer.
I am 21st in the queue at my library for Shy Creatures. Cannot wait to get it.

Charlotte's Web was my favorite as a child, I have read it as an adult, I still love it.😊 I enjoyed the poem you read, it was very pretty.
Happy new year to you and david
The Magic Faraway Tree was my first favourite. My daughter loves it now, but she's read it herself, I've never read it as an adult!
Loved this! As you're in Kent you should definitely have a read about Vita Sackville-West!
Where is your fantastic dressing gown from?!
Happy New Year!

Happy 2025 (stars)!
Got put of Jamie Oliver with that horrible video of the branding and castrating of that poor bull he was in. Really horrible x
