Scoring change is great! I play along, and I finally won with 31 points. I got the Pirates and Tigers for 9 points in the first round, then got 12 points in round 2 all with pitchers from the 60s and 70s.
I somehow finished with 42 points that includes subtracted points. Only minuses that i needed to keep in mind was a -4 on joez for naming baltimore in the all stars round and a -2 on ryan for naming the phillies
Yeah, the problem with this format is you have to name the clear leaders, because it's too big a risk/reward proposition if you don't. Plus, I have a feeling you'll have a difficult time balancing the number of available points.
I just know of Juan Gonzalez having 2 sneaky mvp seasons. I like the new format. I was gonna say to keep it close on other categories like over 40 Homer seasons or strike outs over 200. you could only count the number over that spot. so if they had 211 strike outs it would be 11 points only, and Homeruns at 48 would be 8 points. This format is lame as shit from a meta and gamesmanship perspective unless you get 3 absolute freak competitors involved. It was inevitable once Dalton announced he was going chalk that it would play out this way. One person will just bank on eking out enough points by playing both defense and offense while 2 people block each other on big point opportunities. And if it didn't play out in that way, either Dalton or Joez would've run away with it. Additionally if you include a super answer like the Yankees for Q1 you guarantee that everyone answers the Yankees and therefore you get less diverse answers overall. I don't like it and I recognize the problem with the other format that competitors would just say obvious answers because the others would overthink it, but this is much worse as a solution imo.
