Filming at home, so she will have been on her bed with her collection of balls and bones 🤣. She met some 3 week old puppies today. It was very exciting, sniff one run around in circles, sniff another run around in circles. It carried on that way for a while 🤣.

Thanks John. Old axes in particular generally have a lot of life left in them. Something very satisfying about both restoring and using old tools.

In 1998 I fell in love with the flamenco guitar. By 2003 I was living in Barcelona, having made previous stays in Sevilla and Cordoba, to learn Castellano and rasgueado. I lived one year in Barcelona city and two years in the surrounding mountains, squatting in anything from an abandoned swimming pool factory (La Makabra) to a Gaudi-contemporary fairy tale castle like structure up on the mountainside (El Castillo) to the room sized hovel just down the hill. (Casita ;)
First year or two I lived hand to mouth playing music with a band named Gadjo of which I was a founding member. Quit that and studied gardening for a year. Meanwhile met Rosa, la meva Catalana, we were together for perhaps a year and a half, very intense and formative. Dons, Catalá en la escola i Catalá en la cama i al final me han dit que el meu accent Catalá es superior al del meu Castellá.
En 2006 durante la etapa de separacion me acabe mudando a Valencia, tocando en otra banda por alli. Viví basado en Valencia ciudad durante unos diez años, de musico vagabundo.
Although English is very much my first language, I have dreamed in Spanish and might possibly be more conversationally fluid, largely given the innate conversational fluidity of the romantic tongue.

@@dongkhamet1351 I arrived in Barcelona in 2005, rented a room close to la Sagrada Familla got through a few agency jobs then started working in Terrasa as a gardener. Moved to Terrasa and after a few years back to Barcelona (la Barceloneta) and then went to Mallorca for a year working for el Fundacio voltor negre. After that came to Lapland. No hang on must have been 2003 I went to Barcelona. Probably 🤣. Everything is a bit of a blur. I think for an English speaker Cataln pronunciation is easy.

I saw you independence day short. It looks very hot and dry. It's really warm here too but thankfully we have been getting lots of rain too.
More fires? That is bad news. Very rare we have forest fires here. Probably as much to do with having few people as the climate. The mosquitoes also help to keep people out of the forest.

We used to have temperatures like that when I lived in Spain. I don't know how I survived 🤣. I have been hearing from other people in the USA that it is hot and there are forest fires. Not good. The sun is starting to set again briefly. That means nighttime temperatures will finally start to kill Ali of the mosquitoes. I am looking forward to seeing the back of those little buggers.

Top info Tim bro ! ..I remember that the helve should have the grain of the wood in line with the cutting edge. Only ever used hickory in my axe handles.. birch ..okay ..that makes awesome sense !! ..will be trying that next week !! I have a load of axe heads (some of them cracked) that are waiting for a new helve ! ..awesome video mate !! ..superb !!

Hi Tim, I think this one turned out very well. It looks like great hatchet. I have the same size Hultafors Trekking axe. But haven't used it for years, just in the UK I don't need it much. I'm also working on a project. I have a large head, and few months ago in a hardware store I found a 29 inch handle that was sitting fir years. I've asked for the price and they've said £5. So I've got it. The only problem I have is that the axe head eye is way too small for the handle, don't won't grind the handle too much. I'm trying to grind the head inside, but it's very difficult. One day I'll finished. Cheers buddy 👍
That sounds like a lot of work.I would definitely be working on the handle rather than the head.Mind you I am saying this without actually seeing either.

If that's what you're about it might make sense to anneal the steel so that you can easily work it with a file and then redo heat treatment.
Just a thought.
I would be interested to know how that works out. I have a Fiskars splitting maul with a synthetic handle that is just starting to get a bit of wiggle.

Thought I’d let you know if you haven’t heard/seen yet BPS is doing something quite a bit different and putting out a limited edition puukko of 200 units. I’m actually quite impressed with their execution on this one they’ve used some pretty decent materials, a bohler N690 on the blade with what looks to me like a blue jean micarta on the scales. Pretty clean little peice, i think it was 3.03” blade something like 8.5” over all, ya they’ve done a nice job with this one. Thought you might be interested and give you a shout you might still have a chance to get your hands on one. I believe it’s only available on their website. Anyway take a look let me know what you think,

@@KuukkeliBushcraft haha cheers mate, glad you were still able to get your hands on one👍 I ordered today as well👌 honestly it looks like a little beast, pretty excited to feel it out too, i love N690 its a great stainless something about its hardness makes it nice for getting a screaming razor edge you can feel the burr break off on your stone and your left with a poppin edge.

Hi Tim. Nice looking job! Will you reinforce the wooden wedge with an additional steel one? Or will the intended usage make this unnecessary?
No I don't intend to, I really don't think it is necessary on a small hatchet like this one especially as the haft is very tight and snug.
I do have a few of the cilindrical axe wedges (I am sure there is a more technical name) if it ever does have any kind of movement I will bang one in.
