SixTONES(pronounced as "STONES", omit the "ix") is really cool that they can do rap, hip pop, J pop, pretty much everything. You probably would like their "人人人" (People people people) too.
Thank you for enjoying their music. They are a very popular boy group in Japan. I'm a big fan too. ``Kokkara'' is a cheering song for life that encourages you to try your best from now on, no matter how difficult the future may be. It's usually a song and dance number, so I'd definitely like to see their live performance.
This type of music has been always played in jpop scene since 90s but are by big bands and are often for TV shows and anime OP, never done by the idol groups and you don't get to hear them often because of Japans strict copyright laws. K pop is basically promoting overseas because of their small domestic market and it's one of the countrys biggest industry so unlike artists anywhere else they get huge tax money for marketing. But music wise it has been a copy of 90s to early 00s J pop when hip-hop RnB were mainstream in Japan but later leaned towards more American hip-hop but they focused on dancing skills and appearance than the idols personality which is more focused in Japan for idol industry. I felt always something is missing in k pop, you know like they're pretending to be somone else, not themselves or their songs so I never followed them except sometimes satisfying to watch the synchronized dancing. If you want the group with energy and true personalities in the idol group, checkout XG, 7 member Japanese group based in South Korea and promoting via K pop platforms. Cocona's rap she did when she was 16 went viral on tiktok last year she got incredible vibes that I had to watch her forever... Also the j pop boy group called BE FIRST is recommended. Hopefully Japan soon starts to look more outside their country and realizes focusing on more international market than gatekeeping is a better business move and soon they change the laws. It's ridiculous to find there's still some independent J pop artists on TH-cam whose MVs got 100 million views but no subtitles are available😔
I already am a fan of XG, but in their group songs there is still lots of singing so thats not what i was referring to in terms of the rap group comment. But otherwise yes I like them a lot.
