Undoubtedly "The Beach Boys" ... is one of the best groups in the history of popular music from the 60's .. 70's .... This year performing in Madrid .... and although training is not complete ... to see them will be a luxury for the senses.... Boys Welcome to Spain!
This song was absolutely ignored by the radio in the 60's. How was that possible? The entire side 2 of "Today" was never played. You had to own the record.
It's possible because this song was a b-side to a single, which were not played on AM radio. The other songs on side 2 were album tracks, which AM radio didn't play either. Are you that completely clueless?
Brian Wilson, the most underrated genius in music history
Totally disagree, he is greatly and widely recognised in USA and Europe as an absolute and total genius of pop music

Listen to Dennis on the word "Tight" at 2:14. You don't often hear how important Dennis was to the mix. What an expressive voice he had.
There isn't not anyone out there that can't relate to the line " And I wondered as it got light. Were you still awake like me"
I cry 9/10 times I hear that line.
A master class on how each voice fit into the harmonies, including Dennis in the chorus.....
There just was no falsetto like BW's awesome " whining falsetto". It can't be duplicated, though at times--on certain songs---both Jeff Foskett & Carl, came close. ------Mike's Lead vocal is among his very best, ever. And, his Bass is note-perfect. -------------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o

@@amandagay7830 Not in the same league. Sorry. Brian would go a half octave up just to show everybody that he couldn't be equaled. Frankie Valli was the only singer with a falsetto of similar stature- he's a close 2nd. Lou Christie was great too, but he was 3rd. Dean Torrence was clearly well below those three.
It's really too bad that they gave Mike so many leads, because his bass singing is fantastic. Carl should've sang way more leads because he was their best singer in that range.
Agree. Even if Mike is 'nasaly', it makes BB's so distinct. Carl was no slouch.

Alan Estlin Brian used the human voice as instruments on their own. This song is such a huge example of it. Then he backed those voices with the most incredible arrangements and productions.
I can understand why it's your favorite, Kiss Me, Baby is a wonderful song. Such an amazing vocal arrangement, to me it sounds like a hymnal. And the lyric is pure Beach Boys confessional. While perhaps not as eloquent as Dylan or Goffin and King, it's still exploring complexities of a relationship that most pop songs of that era didn't tread.

Sometimes, yeah. I have then each tied for #1 all time. Only problem with the BBs is they have plenty of hot trash. They have some bangers on their first album, but plenty of generic and repetitive stuff. Then everything after 1980 is just... eh. TWGMtR is probably their best thing since the unreleased Adult/Child album.

Harmonically, absolutely. I would venture to say that all of the Beach Boys were better singers than each of the Beatles, but it's really hard to claim that they were better musically with the exceptions of maybe Brian and Carl since they used session musicians for the most part. Each of the Beatles were proficient on multiple instruments (including George on the sitar, which is a really hard instrument to learn) Lyrically they're very close, especially during their peak mid-60s years when both bands were willing to push and experiment. I'd say the Beach Boys were the best American band of the 60s while the Beatles were the best British band. As for who was the best overall, that's really a matter of individual taste.

You might not have guessed, but Brian Wilson is a very humble man. He recognizes that people like his music, and he recognizes that it is his and that it is good, but he does not recognize his own genius. McCartney does, however, and has said many times that the things Brian did are better than anything he did. Heck, he's even said it to Brian himself. George Martin also says pretty much the same thing, since Brian did everything that Paul and George Martin did as both a producer and a singer.

I am a big fan of the Beach Boys, and it's very hard to find a group that had such amazing vocals like them.They are truly Legends.This is one of my all time favorite love songs by them,I actually sang this to a girl I was dating ,and she cried after I sang it.She never had anyone sing to her,and she just hugged me and kissed me .A memory I'll never forget.RIP Dennis Wilson,& Carl Wilson .Miss you both.
