Hey Josh, nice to see you. I watch your videos sometimes and enjoy your content (thanks). I've seen a lot of videos like the above show up in the last 24 hours. I assume they're all scams, you have any more info? I've reported this video and several like it a few times today. The BTC address with "send us BTC and we will send double right back" giveaway... yeah right. I don't believe it for a second, let alone that this video is actually a livestream with Woz. Was surprised to come across you here, any further insight to this video (and the ones like it which have suddenly popped up)?

I think his relatable but also tough attitude works to that end, getting young people to follow him. Eventually they will become disilusioned and move on with their lives but that's just the way of the world. Young people need to go through that process to learn to think for themselves.

The whole point of Gary's personal branding is to create a buzz around his company. That buzz gets him 2 main advantages:
    1. the good young workers agree to work for less money, they value the fact that they work for VaynerMedia more than earning more money somewhere else.
    2. many companies wanna be clients of such a hyped up media brand.
Gary said a few times that he doesn't care if someone leaves, because there'll always be a new intern thinking that being an Vayner employee is the purpose of her/his life.

@@SL2797 As an attorney and a NY licensed attorney at that, Montana has more onerous regulations than NY. The tax rate is quite competitive with most states too. NY on the other hand has $15k per annum greater per capita GDP than even California and much greater than any other state though. $95k per annum per capita is the GDP in NY. The regulatory environment in NY is quite favorable to most companies. Why NY has higher GDP though is the fact that the state has the highest union participation rate in the nation at north of 22%. NY has very few licensing requirements for most businesses outside of a handful of regulated professions and health department licenses for food service and food sales which most states have. NY's state run workers compensation insurance plan is one of the cheapest in the nation and it's paid family and medical leave act is paid for entirely by worker's with a small payroll tax on their wages that does not fall on employers, it's less than a 1% tax on wages and salary. Whenever people complain about "regulations" I usually have to laugh because lack of basic safety regulations as is often the case in states like Texas generally lead to things like factories blowing up which is typically far more costly than spending $0.30 for the better safety relief valve.
The reason the cost of living is so high in Downstate NY and the City is simple. It is responsible for more productivity than most US states all by itself and working there and living there requires vertical construction which is costly to build and maintain. 20 floors of steel I-Beams, Concrete and glass costs more than some 2x6s and plywood in an area where there are 25 people per square mile. Southern California and the San Francisco Bay area don't have the same vertical construction challenge, but they do have the same space limitations with proximity to high paying jobs. I mean a film or TV editor earning $3k a week in LA or a coder earning $3k a week in the Bay area is a common job in those places. In Manhattan a common job is an analyst at a hedge fund or investment bank earning $1 million a year or more. These areas are more expensive because people WANT to live there and there are good paying jobs there so housing costs are competitive.

It's so funny man. Naturally humans tend to think there is only one way of achieving something in life. The guys that start large corporations had to sacrifice everything and bust their ass to get it off the floor and tell everyone that this is the only route, or to "eat shit" as Gary would say. That doesn't mean every business model is like that. For example, I do eCommerce. Currently I am doing about $10k - $20k a month PROFIT. The store that is producing this took me max 10 hours of work. Now I just have to casually open up my Facebook ads manager twice a day and adjust some things for about 5-10 minutes. It took me $700 to start this store and start seeing profits. For me to scale this to $100k a month I essentially just spend more money on Facebook ads and improve some things on the back-end. It is 2020. Time to work smart, not hard.

I was a web / graphic artist / video editor - so I had to show stuff ( for revisions, updates ) at the end of the day. My job description was not soft skilled based or people organization based. Every time I watch this guys' videos, he spits truth. Though occasionally I feel like he makes assumptions. One thing I gathered from this video, is the fact that no company out there gives a shit about you, as an employee. Even if it's a great company and the culture is amazing and the work is challenging etc..., running any business has a bottom line. Any smart business owner would understand that you gotta go if it means saving the business.I see a lot of young people in this video. People who don't understand yet how the real world works. They're getting excited about bs. They feel they have an impact, which is false. They feel they're important to the company, which is also false.

Listen, people are going to buy toothpaste and toilet paper because they are essentials. I don't see how knowing the emotional component of either is going to be critical for sales. I don't have an emotional attachment to my toothpaste or toilet paper. Human behavior = we want a quality product that works. Human behavior = I buy essential toiletries for hygiene. Why the special title or degree for this?

Gary is amazing at marketing and motivational speeches... other than that I haven't gotten anything life changing from him... and you got these kids idolizing him like he's the greatest businessman ever. When he does a Q&A I've noticed that most of his answer is platitudes or mind games with the person asking a question telling them that they "already know what to do so why are you asking me? Just do it." And the things he talks about being the future of business isn't him being enlightened... he just read the right magazines.
My personal (unpopular) opinion of him is that he's all brand/persona and not a whole lot of substance. But that's my opinion based on youtube videos I've watched here and there. When I take notes I don't have a lot of substance by the end... it's mostly platitudes and personal stories. Anything of value he does say isn't unique to him... you can easily find the same information from business and tech articles.
