Exactly. The issue is the one getting quota, always wants it for himself and not willing to let it go for others. (even if for his own caste poor who needs them).

As a Bangladeshi I can confirm you have correctly portrayed our history from 1952 to 2024. I applaud you for your extensive and unbiased research and presenting the truth to the people of Pakistan, as I was unaware about the corruption of the history being taught at schools there. It is imperative that everyone knows the history of their nation, whether good or bad, so future generations can learn from the mistakes and be better. Great explanation of quota system or affirmative action. TPE is a valuable resource for the old and young alike who want to open their minds and hearts.
Bangladeshi students are protesting for their country's reform and Pakistani students are protesting for their political parties. That's the difference 🙄
On that point: at the very onset of the protest, students of the Private Universities, marched in front of their own Universities. Some of them died. But they did not relent. They came out the next day, and the next .. The thing is, people know, they themselves knew, they wouldn't even participate in the exam for which they are giving their lives. Most of them are from very well off families. That galvanized the whole youth. Organizers were disciplined and very shrewd. They made one thing clear: anyone can join the movement, but they can't use the platform to talk about their party preferences. @@ThePakistanExperience
After going through the comments, i have realised that the right wing Indians appear to be fixated on getting others to agree with their Opinions that they have formed after watching Godi Media . Why do they feel the need to make everyone echo their beliefs? It seems that they are more concerned about the people of Bangladesh than the Bangladeshis themselves

Actual Bangladesh movement against oppression was started when establishment imposed one unit scheme. Merged all provinces into single administrative unit called west Pakistan for balancing power it was a rigging actually. And then one unit faced strong opposition especially from Sindh. One unit scheme suppressed the identity of provinces. After effective movement against one unit it eventually dissolved in 1970. One unit was also crucial factor of political instability.

In 1952, the students protested against the selection of Urdu as the only state language, resulting in many martyrs. The Pakistani government at that time was forced to withdraw their decision, and the students of Bangladesh won. The students led the popular uprising of 1969. Bangladeshi students contributed the most in the 1971 independence war. Although India helped us a lot. In 1990, students also won the anti-dictatorship Ershad movement. The last dictatorship of 2024 forced Sheikh Hasina's government to resign. Thousands of students have died in these movements. On June 5, the High Court ordered the reinstatement of the 30 percent quota for children of freedom fighters, deeming the 2018 abolition of quotas illegal. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of the Awami League had abolished the quota system after massive protests. On Wednesday, students from Dhaka University blocked major intersections and the police precinct in Shahbagh, a popular square in Dhaka. The student-led blockade of Shahbagh square continued for days. On 15 July 2024, students of Dhaka University were sitting with placards and flags in a peaceful protest calling for reforms on the quota allocation for government jobs in Bangladesh. Suddenly, they were attacked by individuals armed with rods, sticks and clubs with a few even brandishing revolvers. Within hours, a pattern emerged across the country with similar attacks coordinated by people believed to be members of the Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL), a group affiliated with the ruling Awami League (AL), against student protesters. By the afternoon of16 July, police fired tear gas and charged with batons drawn at protesters in front of Begum Rokeya University in the north-western city of Rangpur where students had gathered, led by the protest coordinator Abu Sayed among others. What happened to Abu Sayed? Abu Sayed, a student of English at the Rangpur’s Begum Rokeya University, stood his ground. As the police closed in, he spread his arms wide open, in a moment of defiance. In a seemingly intentional and unjustifiable attack, the police fired directly at his chest. At least two police officers discharged 12-gauge shotguns directly towards him from across the street - a distance of merely 15 meters. Sayed clutched his chest on impact as officers fired at least two more times using birdshot, ammunition that is designed for hunting which is extremely dangerous, inherently inaccurate and thus unlawful for use in the policing of protests. Sayed posed no apparent physical threat to the police. Sayed’s death certificate states he was ‘brought dead’ to the hospital. He was just 25 years old. The video of Sayed’s brutal killing sparked outrage and became a symbol of the violence directed at protesters in Bangladesh since 15 July 2024.

Taking about India as a Indian citizen. Its high time to change quota from cast based to Financials based. I didn’t get admission anywhere in medical despite having 150/200 but my neighbour got in MBBS with 65/200. We came from equal financial class. People will say 150 is very low marks but I am talking about 2001. Now imagine a low quality doctor is out there treating people.
It's difficult to do violence in protest in India due to new strict law implimented in July only peace full protest are allowed any damages to public property will recovered from protest organiser and it's come under anti national act which is very strict
I have pointed this out before, and will point out again. 1. Qouta only works when its aim is to to get minimal representation. I.e. if majority capacity are alloted to quota it destroys the system. You gave example of one of your classmate in Lums who got admitted on quota, and mentioned how he benefited from it. This is a wonderfull example. Now just suppose if out of 100 seats 80 were assigned to that quota, do you think those 80 would have benefitted the way your classmate did? 2. Minimum merit has to be maintained in quota, you cant just hire hire a person who hasnt worked on a computer in his life as a an IT administrator on quota.. this would never work. You mentioned in this video, on how the universities worldwide give extra points for those who struggled, yes they give extra points, but then the admission would be done based on total accumulated points, not just based on the extra points. 3. Karachi police and airport staff is the best example of how majority quota has destroyed the system. Majority of the policemen hired come from tiny towns , have no exposure of of how big cities operate, and they are given the responsibility of handling system of one of the biggest city in the world. If the situation is reversed and quota % is brought down to around 20%, not only the system will improve (comparitively) but also the people hired on quota would excel. 4. After around half a century the quota system implemented has not resulted in any improvment of the situation. Because its misdirected. Going by your example of the tooti sarak race, the way to improve the situation would be to focus more on repairing the street, than only alotting extra points. One thing Quota system in its current form has definitely succeeded in achieving is reducing the gap between urban and rural areas. And that was only achieved by bring down urban areas rather than improving the development of the rural areas. And this is precisely whats wrong with your approach on the 22 elite families that you keep focusing on when discussing bhuttos nationalization. Those 22 families survived the shock, but the next 20 thousand families bussiness were destroyed. Because again Bhutto took the same Robinhood approach, rather than redirecting the subsidies from the big businesses to the smaller ones, so that the big ones survive on their own and middle and small scale businesses are promoted, he completely took over the big and small businesses, and destroyed or stunted large chunk of them. In your yesterdays podcast your guests complained about how their schools , community centers and hospitals were taken away from them, guess who did that?? You missdirected all the blame on "Karachi ke log". (Yes I have watched all your podcasts, and am a big fan of yours). (Pardon the typos, as its hard to proof read on TH-cam mobile app)
This serves as a lesson in politics: Shehzad, many democratic supporters often argue that democracy survives best when it runs continuously. However, we've seen two recent examples that challenge this idea. In Bangladesh, the Awami League, originally a left-wing party, gradually became authoritarian due to its long period in power, essentially turning into a dictatorship. Similarly, the PPP, once a left-wing party that opposed martial laws and dictatorships, has shifted to the right and now aligns with the very authoritarian forces it once fought against. In Sindh and Balochistan, the PPP's current stance reflects this unfortunate shift. This shows that it's not just about having a long-lasting democracy; it's also crucial to have more than one political party with the power to govern at different times. If there's no strong opposition, one party can dominate for too long and eventually slide into political dictatorship.
@@ThePakistanExperience So, are you saying that the PPP surrendered to these pressures? While it's true that military interventions and assassinations have played a role, does that justify the party's shift away from its original principles?
Meray bhai water gas are coming from Sindh. You are right. but export import duty collection are from port that is situated in Karachi and then this money goes to whom ? To Karachi people?
So somebody who is in Lahore imports a car he should pay that money to the people of Karachi because port hay? Import duty is the country’s money not the city’s money
@ThePakistanExperience Port Karachi mai hai that is reality. Check wealth of other port cities in world. Amyway Gawader k bhi saath ye hi honay ja raha hai Karachi jaisa
Another difference, and I could be wrong, is that in Bangladesh, civilian oppressors use force with the help of the military, but the military eventually refuses to continue the violence. In contrast, in Pakistan, the oppressors already have access to force because the military itself is the oppressor. People in Pakistan have been protesting for decades, but the oppressors never hesitate to use brutality. So in Pakistan, use of force by oppressors just killing people like recent incidents we all know in KPK.
Shehzad, you have often mentioned in your programs that most of the jute mills is the erstwhile East Pakistan were owned by West Pakistanis who repatriated all profits to West Pakistan and exploited the then East Pakistani labourers. Have you considered the other side of the coin? In the years running up to the creation of the dominions of India and Pakistan the province of (united) Bengal was perhaps the largest producer of jute in the world and it was exported from Calcutta. At the time of creation of Pakistan almost all jute mills was located in Calcutta and almost none in what became the East Bengal province of Pakistan, which was called the Eastern Wing in those days. (The name East Pakistan was given to the province when One Unit was implemented in 1955). It was Pakistani industrialists, many of them from the Western Wing, who set up jute mills in East Bengal. So many jute mills were set up there that by the late 1950s it became the biggest exporter of jute in the world, beating Calcutta. If my information is correct there were 70 + jute mills at the time of creation of Bangladesh. True, those industrailists from the Western Wing (West Pakistan after 1955) were capitalists driven by profit. Yes, they set up jute mills to get richer, but they created infrastructure which enabled the region to export processed jute, and provide employment to at least some of the local population. These mills were lost to their original owners when Bangladesh was created but proved invaluable to the newly formed state. My question is: as those industrialists were capitalists driven by profits, would you have been happier had they confined themselves to setting up cotton mills in the Western Wing? This would have enabled them to get rich by 'exploiting labourers' from that region, thus increasing employment opportunities in the Western Wing and not set up those jute mills in the Eastern Wing? That would have meant jute growers of the Eastern Wing would have to export raw jute at lower rates to Calcutta where it would have been processed in jute mills and exported at higher prices as a value added item? Would that not have resulted in that much less employment for the people there? The idea is not to justify the exploitation of labour, but to say that any factory or mill set up anywhere by a capitalist indeed makes them rich and perhaps they exploit labourers, but we should not forget that they trigger economic activity in that region, turn raw materials into something value added that is sold at higher prices that the raw material they are made from, provide employment opportunities , and contribute to the economy of the region too.
@@ThePakistanExperienceYes sir. You should! You are looking at only one side of a complex issue completely ignoring all other aspects. Things are never black and white. One can't ignore the vast grey in-between jet black and pristine white. You have disregarded the economic activities generated, and employment opportunities created by those industrialists. One shouldn't expect common people, especially industrialists, to be completely altruistic like Abdus Sattar Edhi and ensure there is no possibility of their own gain when they are embarking on any endeavour. The question is: did others benefit also because of the trickle down effect? If not, then it was a selfish exercise; if yes, others got employment and the region got some industries, then it should not be condemned for ideological reasons while disregarding all benefits.

At the end of the day it's not about political boundaries, religion or ethnicity, it's about being the best humans possible. We must be better.

Bangladeshi students are protesting for their country's reform and Pakistani students are protesting for their political parties.
That's the difference 🙄
Not Pakistani Students just Pakistani elite students
On that point: at the very onset of the protest, students of the Private Universities, marched in front of their own Universities. Some of them died. But they did not relent. They came out the next day, and the next .. The thing is, people know, they themselves knew, they wouldn't even participate in the exam for which they are giving their lives. Most of them are from very well off families. That galvanized the whole youth. Organizers were disciplined and very shrewd. They made one thing clear: anyone can join the movement, but they can't use the platform to talk about their party preferences. @@ThePakistanExperience

Bangladesh is the only country in the world where no movement of students has been defeated. The students of Bangladesh are not defeated.

But in bengal it was organic students rights movement not for any leader or personality.
Pak resistance was against the establishment, leaders and Army.
Ban resistance was against just one leader and her party, where army helped the movement.

Hindus are safe in Bangladesh. Those who used to support Awami League and used to torture people are facing problems, including Hindu and Muslim. indian propaganda over our student protest is pissing me off too much.. like why are indians worried about mujib statue being vandalised ? yes he played important role for our independence but hasina ruined his legacy by forcefully planting him in our educational system with status, murals, naming the schools, renaming the ports bridges.. hasina talks too much about his father but what about taz? the then primeminister who fought alone in 1971 war? how about zia who in absence of mujib announced our independence through radio? so yes it was expected.. And thank goodness we can now talk about this without being labelled as rajakar..
Personally as an Indian I do not have an issue with removal of mujeeb statue....what I have issue is with the vandalism....and it is not only mujeeb statue, but a lot of the statues are vandalized in the name of bangladesh is an islamic nation...and it is not only mujeeb statue...pachagarh rail station name is changed....basically there is an planned effort to remove mention war of 1971 from the history of your country( which has only started )...
Now you may ask, why is it any business of India?...India have seen one country to do exactly the same thing, and move towards radical islam....that country is a permanent headache of India....and we do not want that same thing to happen with another of our neighbors....but after everything, what you do with your country is in your hand....you can make it another pakistan, syria....you can make it Singapore....but it is definitely not Bangladesh anymore....that spirit has gone when you have vandalized the statues....
@@debamalyadey8904 bangladesh's birth was never a one man show but hasina tried to rewrite the history.. the 1969 movement was started by the students as well? that was the base of a new nation, there are audio records all over the internet when ziaur rahman announced our independence after mujib was taken hostage but his contribution was erased from history just because his party is a rival of awami party lol..even he got called a razakar.. taz uddin with indira led the war, trained mukti Bahini but there is not one statue of him that i can remember.. my University hall names are after mujib's family and one of them is sheikh kamal and he was notorious goon a sexual assaulter and we removed his name today and it was needed.. i dont think Hasina's departure will make us forget our 1971 war instead this generation will learn the true history and remember those martyrs.. yes the vandalism is Too much but you have to understand that even in east pakistsn era there was never an incident where thousands of students were killed by live bullet by police force in a span of a week, you can assume some third party is taking advantage of this situation but overall its the students and general public who was the sole factir for Hasina’s downfall
@@mushfikur16 it is not only the statue of Mujeeb...ravinndra nath tagore statuenwas destroyed....indian cultural center in dhaka was completely destroyed....statue in front of supreme court was destroyed...a venition marble statue of a greek origin was destroyed...why?....none of those have any relation with AWL....why pachagarh railway station name was removed...it was not in name of mujeeb....these are plain and simple vandalism, which is a sign of anarchy....what you should have done, after forming a govt, you should have removed the statues by passing a legislation....
And you very well know why those statues are vandalized, even if you do not want to admit....it is the very same reason which has decimated hindu population in bangladesh from 26% in 1971 to 8% now.....and if you do not control that element, you very well know where your country might head ( mainly economically, in terms of social and speech freedom )....
And you want to talk about the atrocities performed during 1971?....how many of your lady member has been r@ped during this protest....did army brought tank during the protest and open fire?....please read your own history....
Now you guys are rejoicing after hasina resigned if AWL or police is attacked....have anyone of protest leader have given a clear call to people after hasina resignation not to attack anyone tagging them AWL supporter, indiscriminately....you should have arrested anyone who are suspected of wrongdoing andbgive them fair trial....it is no different than what hasina has done....when people of your country, burned alive an indonesian citizen who is staying in a hotel of AWL leader along with 23 other people, was he a AWL supporter?......
Now people are saying they are not from their party or group of protestor, but they have created this lawlessness, and now they are not ready to accept the responsibility for this situation....
Good analysis....

Shehzad make a video on the minorities of Bangladesh tooo
He won't, he'll most probably justify or find a reason for the killings of Hindus.. several videos on GAZA and now silence on persecution of Hindus
This serves as a lesson in politics:
Shehzad, many democratic supporters often argue that democracy survives best when it runs continuously.
You’re ignoring the multiple military interventions and assassinations that pushed PPP there.
@@ThePakistanExperience So, are you saying that the PPP surrendered to these pressures? While it's true that military interventions and assassinations have played a role, does that justify the party's shift away from its original principles?
That needed explanation.
Shehzad insidiously fanning the embers of a proto-revolution 😀
I am supposed to thank capitalists who got interest free ten year loans from the government to set up factories to make profits? 🤣
Did you made a video on Khatme Nabouat Moment and bloodshed of people happened in Lahore !
