Not sure if this will get to Uncle Floyd himself, but want to wish him a happy birthday as I know it was yesterday. He and I share the same birthday! Growing up in Nj, I used to enjoy watching this show and his playing style definitely inspired me. As soon as I could, I got into playing Scott Joplin…closest written music to the stride piano Floyd plays. I now also perform and occasionally imagine how effortlessly he plays while I am playing a song he would play and will imitate his style. Funny, listening to the piano now, I realize how out of tune it was (I am a piano tuner by trade!) 😂 Anyway, thank you for posting these videos and again, Happy Birthday from fellow piano man who happens to share a birthday a with you as well! 🎹🎶
I'm 74 and I concentrated on Ragtime and Harlem Stride after I became better at the keyboards! Stride piano is my very favorite! Ragtime comes second and that's it!
