No problem in normal Zenology Pro stuff, just the JD800 expansion. The tooltip in FL Studio says "LFO 1 DEPTH 4: 0" all the time? Edit: I can get the FL Studio left slider working and the tooltip off by unchecking the "Notify about parameter changes" box. The JD800 UI is still messed up
I dont see how this can sound any better to be honest although some people were saying the filters are better on the hardware. Just on presets alone this is better than all the other Roland digitals I've used in the past, they are sounds that actually really sit well in a track and are incredibly inspiring. Most of the other Roland stuff I've used is good but are not as polished as these sounds imo, I thought people were making it up when comparing the XV range to this but they are right.
Can I import existing JD-800 presets/libraries (sysx) into it? And vice-versa, can I export presets from the model expansion and dump them into a a regular hardware JD-800? Does it / will it have the extra waveform cards and the associated additional preset banks (#04 Strings Ensemble, for instance)? Ultimately, asking whether it will be as complete as Korg's recreations of M1 and Wavestation, that is - access to all the historically produced waveforms/patches/libraries.
I don't think it will be able to import or export any SysEX formats. This will only accept svz files of the model expansions and the changes made in it. Hopefully if we complain enough they will make a converter for it. Lol. As for the complete recreation question, the answer is no. Zenology is meant to recreate the sound of the JD but you cannot import or export old JD patches. If they make an ACB model of the JD then it might be possible but Zenology recreates the JD 800's sound with it's own resolution and that might make it less possible to import old patches.
I am curious, since the JD-800 is a four partial architecture, each partial being a self contained synthesizer with separate filter settings and envelopes, can one synthesize formants on the JD-800 Model Expansion? Formants are multiple peak filters, so by setting different filter peaks for different partials, can one produce formants?
Hello, I have a question, because I want to buy JD-800 software, and I can find standalone VST and this Expansion for Zenology. How they compare to each other?
I can't wait to see how this program deals with my controller editing matrix regarding the palette, without having to use the mouse, lots of interesting exploration to do, and I suggest others do the same and upload your suggestions to roland cuz I see some very awesome potential here. This synth is capable of having several banks of controller modulations. for example, if my 16 knob controller has 4 banks, it should be able to control 4 partial controls, or 4 layers controls, but where it get insane is how my controllers react to what pallet modulation is being selected or not selected. The organization of how controllers communicate with it, is still very up in the air. Unless I don't know something. If I select a certain pallet control, will my midi learn actually learn "that resonance partial knob or LFO rate partial knob? cuz simply it's a multitimbral system, which confused controllers, how that entire thing is setup is something to figure out for me or roland
What's the difference between the JD-800 module for Zenology and the JD-800 software version appart the interface/keyboard. Does the sounds sounds really similar at all ? I own the module for Zenology. Should I consider buying the software at all ?

If you buy a Jupiter-X today, do you also need to pay additionally (monthly...) for Zenology PRO and the expansions, or are they included and yours to keep?!
The 4 Expansions are free for the Jupiter as default. But the JD-800 for the Jupiter will cost you 149 usd to buy. Zenology is a separate deal. Zenology PRO is for those who want the Roland sounds and editing options on their PC/Mac but do not want to pay a premium price for it.
I think it was meant to compensate for the addition of Model Expansions on the Fantom to the JP-X users. Plus if Roland had been creating the JD for the JP-X, Xm, Zenology and the 4 Model Expansions for the Fantom. To create a JD expansion for the Fantom would increase the overall load on their engineers. In this way JP-X owners won't be fully disappointed with their purchase.
@@ablesam you’re not wrong, probably. But I feel like the biggest reason is to try and convince someone to buy into multiple synths. The fact remains that I got the Fantom to NOT use my computer - I simply won’t be buying and using it in zenology, which seems to be what they are proposing (or buying another synth that covers most of the same sounds). @@wiredbassclarinet I understand Nathan. But that looks to be the focus of Roland now. In the 2000's Roland provided the Fantom FA76, S, X and G as an all in one workstation for keyboardists that included power sequencers, audio tracks, RAM for sampling and much more. Then the workstation market was starting to fail around 2012 onward to soft synths in a live performance scenario with the exception of the KRONOS. So the only way to win back the market is to provide an excellent standalone and multi-operational workstation that also works with your soft-synths and DAW but is still a powerhouse of a machine on its own. That's why the Fantom is beginning to become a favourite of the crowd right now. The fact still remains that it is an unfinished platform, but Roland have given their word to update its features over time and they are being true to what they said.
@@ablesam I have seen them supporting it well - but not in this instance. If they don’t release it for the Fantom then they are nerfing it, making it not the workstation/hub of a studio - because then you would need to have it in zenology or buy a new product. I love how the Fantom can control external gear and VSTs - and it’s not like it can’t play the jd in zenology, but then the Fantom will no longer be the standalone and multi operational workstation that it’s meant to be. Since they all use the same file type, them limiting the Fantom from running this natively would be just a money grab to pull someone into one of their other products.
@@wiredbassclarinet Lets probably wait until they can develop a GUI for the JD-800 on the Fantom since they've been busy designing for the other 4. My guess is that it will not come cheap. If the JP-X users had to pay for the JD Model Expansion, Fantom owners probably will have too as well. Plus when talking to some of the Roland Reps, they told that Roland intends Zenology to be the center bridge that connects every single one of their Zen-Core products since they share the same sound engine.
That's an excellent question. Can this import sysex banks? I think only Roland's D50 VST can import sysex banks of the soft synths that I know of. Adding sysex import makes the difference of these soft synths really being able to replace the originals and tap into the sound banks available.

I have the PRO level membership of Roland Cloud and have installed the JD-800 model file on to my Windows 10 PC via the Roland Cloud software, which installs the EXM005_JD800.exz file into the Zenology software, so I had to hunt around for its location for a bit so I could copy it onto the USB drive for importing to the Xm. On trying to install this file onto my Xm via the correct procedure however, I get the message "Incorrect File" ??? My question is, is this file somehow qualitatively DIFFERENT from the file that you download from the Roland Cloud if you purchase a Lifetime Key (as opposed to just having a subscription level PRO licence)??? I would have thought that it should work if you have subscribed, just as well as if you had bought it outright?

The filter sounds nothing like it , the filters in the jd 800-990 (tvf ) are way better then the tvf filters found in all the other later roland romplers , including integra/xv 5080 , and zencore They used the zencore tvf filters whcich sound inferior to the original ( not the new vcf , these sound indeed better and more analoge but these even can't do bandpass ) It's just the basic pcm synth structure ( as found in all romplers and cloud srx boards ) without the routing structures + jd880 rom , you can the exact same with the standard zenology plugin ( minus the routing ) I can't believe you guys keep falling for this
Gonna have to agree with you here, and it's a real shame as I'd love a more portable substitute to my JD, but especially when doing A/B comparisons between the patches on this and the hardware, the difference is evident. The filters just aren't what they are on the original hardware.
It seems like filters are a missing piece in a lot of software. I think we’ll get there... eventually. I have to say, I am pretty excited about ASM’s approach for the hydrasynth - to use machine learning to analyze and model the vintage filters. That seems like the right approach. Traditionally programmed filters are probably easy to do. They often sound usable/okay at best but lack the character, life, and unpredictability that analog filters have.
This is what I’ve been waiting for. I just downgraded my subscription. I’ll have to upgrade back. I used to own a JD990. The wailing guitar and fusion lead was my favorite.
I'm on pro which I got free for a year and this comes with it, so I'm extremely happy right now as this is stunning. The presets blow away all other Roland digital synths I've used including the XV range, Vsynth and Integra.

If you only have Zenology Lite then can you use this? If so then whats the difference is there any loss of functionality.
Finally the JD-800! Can i import the sounds from my old hardware JD-800? Can this vsti read sysex data?
The Fat SAW waveform looks different to the original when sampled :)
no, this is not the full thing! afaik you cannot import/convert jd800/990 presets/banks?
That's an excellent question. Can this import sysex banks?
I think only Roland's D50 VST can import sysex banks of the soft synths that I know of.
Adding sysex import makes the difference of these soft synths really being able to replace the originals and tap into the sound banks available.
What the real difference between Zenology Pro and this jd800 expansion? Can I recreate same sound on Zenology Pro software?

Don’t really understand why this isn’t available for the Fantom but it is for the Jupiter? Do t both units use the Zen Core technology? Bit confused if anyone can help?

Thanks for reaching out.

I want a Roland Jupiter 8v
Does Roland plan to make a MC 909 VST or Zenology expansion?
Any update on the Fantom version?
Appreciate the feedback.
I would pay top dollar for a Fantom version!
The filter sounds nothing like it , the filters in the jd 800-990 (tvf ) are way better then the tvf filters found in all the other later roland romplers , including integra/xv 5080 , and zencore
They used the zencore tvf filters whcich sound inferior to the original ( not the new vcf , these sound indeed better and more analoge but these even can't do bandpass )
It's just the basic pcm synth structure ( as found in all romplers and cloud srx boards ) without the routing structures + jd880 rom , you can the exact same with the standard zenology plugin ( minus the routing )
I can't believe you guys keep falling for this
If i wasnt so lazy i would compare it to my JD800 :)
The had a certain warmth to them
Gonna have to agree with you here, and it's a real shame as I'd love a more portable substitute to my JD, but especially when doing A/B comparisons between the patches on this and the hardware, the difference is evident. The filters just aren't what they are on the original hardware.
I guess how people spend thousands on eurorack and dont know how to use it? Falling for it? How do people fall for buying $1000 phones? Lol
Why not reproduce a hardware version for us that choose hands on switches & knobs??
Free for the Fantom please!
COOL MAN COOL
😎
Is this model expansion compatible with the Fantom?
Load sysex like D-50 virtual?
whats the drum machine in the demo at the beginning ? :)
I would gladly buy if it comes to the fantom😁
Noted.
PLEASE add the Roland JP-8000 to the cloud!!!
Now just a JP-8000 to complete my Cloud wants list please........ :)
Very good!!!! Please in spanish, 🙏
This is what I’ve been waiting for. I just downgraded my subscription. I’ll have to upgrade back. I used to own a JD990. The wailing guitar and fusion lead was my favorite.
Don’t make the mistake I made and buy from the wrong link
If you purchase from the offers page you get free 6 months of pro plan
So no need to pay my friend
@@E-MOTION-MUSIC wow thanks.
I'm on pro which I got free for a year and this comes with it, so I'm extremely happy right now as this is stunning. The presets blow away all other Roland digital synths I've used including the XV range, Vsynth and Integra.
I want zenology as compact, desktop synth. I don't need a groovebox, don't need keys, I just want the core.
Thanks for your feedback 🧡
.
ROLAND: will there be a JD-800 Plug-Out version for the SYSTEM-8 ???
.
Thanks for the feedback.
Would this work with the mc101?
Is it available for the fantom?
How to scale the preset manager ?
i.imgur.com/khcNFiO.png
???
Does this work with the new Fantom?
No.
Roland! JP8000 please!
JD 800 VST?😍😍😍🤘🤘🤘
So when am I gonna be able to get this for my Fantom? or are you seriously wanting to force us flagship owners to buy a jupiter x to use this?
EXACTLY! When Roland?
I got the Fantom to NOT use my computer. I’m certainly not buying and using it in zenology, despite how good it is
Thanks for the feedback.
@@rolandglobal I sold my Jupiter X because it was hard to edit the Zen Core layers - then you released a free editor!!! Why is this not available for your flagship? Fantom.
Sysex soundbank importation is important on these emulation models to be a true soft version of the hardware. Roland?...
Please Roland port model expansion to MC 101/707 we are ready to pay for it
That's why I kept the real one :-)
WHERE IS THE NEW ROLAND OCTAPAD SPD 30 2021 ???????
I need sounds for my MV 8000
You guys need to make a mini desktop module version of this.
I’d love that.
Iceman and killer pad are the best things I’ve ever heard from a synth.
Thanks for your feedback 🧡
they just released a mini desktop module version of JD 800
