I never understood why no one realized that the giant, whiskered beast at the end of episode 15 is Puck. I recall making the connection after he mentioned his “daughter” and just watching the snow pile on Subaru’s severed head as the credits rolled...
Its also maybe factored by the sheer shock everyone had when watching this first time. Back then I was just sitting on my chair watching the credits roll like a statue and didnt have the capacity to process who that big furry was or anything that happened before then.
Yeeeah, I think it's because nobody bothered watching any of the 2 OVA's thinking that they weren't canon to the story.🤔 I watched the 2 OVA's right after S1E11 (or E6 for Director's Cut) and I understood who that beast was right away. It helped because I watched the series when everything was already released (the ova's released after the show so😗)
Spoilers: The giant beast at the end was puck. I'm not a Re:Zero expert, but from what I understand, his contract with Emilia states that if Emilia dies, Puck destroys the world. As we find out in season 2, this never actually happens, because Reinhardt kills Puck before he can destroy the world.

If there's one person that truly deserves to live in Rezero world it's Emilia. After everything she's been through her entire life, after everyone treated her like she has the plague or something, she bares no hatred towards the people that hate her. She even goes so far to help those motherfuckers. If she doesn't deserve to live, I don't know who does. So I'm with puck on this one.
