    The original D15 was released in 2014 and it's still the benchmark for air coolers. Think about it.

    • @100500daniel
      @100500daniel ปีที่แล้ว +13

      That's because it's pretty much near the limit of what you can do with a dual tower. You could make something significantly better but it would be huge and and expensive and couldn't be fit in most cases. Most tower coolers are roughly the same size to accommodate most PC builds. A custom made prebuilt with a giant heatsink with 12 heatpipe would annihilate the D15 but of course we don't have anything like that available :)

      For older cpus maybe, you can get better with different models.

    • @SpoonHurler
      @SpoonHurler ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cause reviewers aren't motivated to review other models. A lot of cheaper models like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin are better for newgen sockets but everyone love Noctua's old tech and don't want their old statements to be wrong

    Recent fan and cooler releases seem to be catching and surpassing Noctua. This is another good example. Great competition in this market is making for some genuine consumer choice.
    I'd love to see some more "Top down" cooling optoins now that fans are producing such good perfomance, especially on something like a non "x" overclocked Zen 4 chip. Have you got got anything coming up that would cover this and possibly a future Zen 5 CPU, though little is yet known about thermals for them?

      True but they're catching up to Noctua's old NH-D15 cooler which came out nearly 10 years ago. Noctua will be releasing the NH-D15 second gen in 2024 with their new fan design and 8 heat pipes, curious as to how they will compete against that. It's a great time for air cooler enthusiasts, so many new products and the competition is great.

    5:57 I had encountered the same problem on mounting MA620M with AM4 socket, the plastic-like back plate holding such heavy cooler cannot be tightened firmly on the motherboard really confused me, but it turns out to be okay with temperature on 5900X after installing and the thermal paste was squeezed pretty average! The cooler itself pull toward the mounting socket by screwing bolts on the top of cooler I guess

    I got this cooler with 7800X3D and I am so happy with my choice. I am getting ~50c while gaming and it's completely silent. I could make the curve more aggressive for cooler temps, but I see no need to. I also have Fractal Torrent, so maybe you won't get same results with your case. Still, it's such a great cooler that I don't think you can go wrong with it.

    I don't see the purpose of having a vanity plate on top of the fin stack if it's going to feature visible screws that ruin the clean aesthetic.
    4:13 The vanity plate is actually hampering performance because the smaller fan's outer diameter goes beyond it, forcing it to blow air away from the fin stack. What the heck, Cooler Master.
