Never use a green pad on painted surfaces. Now that yellow grime is going to get on faster. oohhh that scrubbing sound!

IKR I could piss on a scotchbrite pad and it will work. Worst possible thing you could use next to 80 grit.

Yeah the scratch pad took off the scale build-up, it also took off your clear gelcoat.

Did you look at the boat? Not much gel coat.

That boat and 99% of most boats have no clear gel coat.

Once you get it clean make sure to give it a good polish and wax. I scrubbed my boat years ago with cleanser, it looks great. Let my boat sit in the water for a long weekend it looked worse than before I cleaned it and it was almost impossible to clean

Try using a product called on off . I tried all the toilet boil / soft scrub concoctions . They don’t work half as well as the On/off . Super easy . Worth the $50 in time and labor for sure .

Ive used on off on my white lower unit for my Evinrude and it works. Nothing and i mean nothing non acid based works and yes it is worth the 50 bucks for a once a year in the fall cleaning before winter storage

I HAVE USED "bULK-TANK CLEANER" SAME AS FARMERS USE AT THE FARM. AFTER STANDING IN THE LAKE IN UPSTATE NY. MY BOAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN OR SHOULD I SAY SCRAPE OFF THE CEMENT. BULK-TANK CLEANER WAS SPRAYED ON AND LET STAND FOR 45MIN. AND HOSE OFF. GOT IT AT AGWAY IN TOWN.

Been using dollar store toilet bowl cleaner on my boat for years. Never thought of the obvious, put it in a spray bottle as you did. Thank you.

Meh... Too much elbow grease. Try wood bleach/oxalic acid. Spray on, wait, rinse off. If you are worried about the acid part, rinse with baking soda solution to neutralize before hosing off. Oxalic acid and muriatic acid are what marinas use

Yes for sure. I have a white 90 Evinrude Etec that sits in the water from June until October and the build up on the lower unit is significant. From what ive tried so far the only solution that gets it looking white again is a acid based spray. If anyone has a non acid based spray solution for this i would be happy to hear.

spread the toilet bowl cleaner on with a broom and leave it for10-15 min, come back and hose it off. You don't have to scrub to no end its acid it will clean just sitting there.

Why are you trying to find an alternative product ? why not just purchase boat hull cleaner. it's really not that expensive. if one can afford a boat, one can surly afford real boat cleaner...

How does that stuff work on aluminum boat hulls? I traded my second car for a used boat. Being my first boat not know what to check them for to make sure the boat was not scrap. Just got it out of winter storage to fix someones silicone attempt at stopping leaks on the bottom of the hull. Well come to find out they had roofing tar caked around the keel and a bunch of rivets. Then they covered them with the silicone. I went and bought several tubes of 3M 5200 to do it right. There are no missing rivets so that is a good point. I will be putting a new floor in it next year with a few electrical up grades along with putting a side console back in it. So the old saying about the word BOAT meaning break out another thousand seems to be true!! Lordy lol. Live and learn.

I tried the Wroks Tub and Shower cleaner. It is not as harsh or caustic as the bowl cleaner. It came out very good on the painted portion of the hull and put a shine back in the aluminum as well. This stuff works very well for sure. Your boat is looking pretty good!! As well as mine.

because a lot of this stuff is or does the exact same thing but it's MUCH cheaper
