    It's not niche pricing. It's luxury pricing. Niche and expensive/luxury weren't mutually inclusive. We only got to this point because TH-camrs decided niche meant expensive a couple of years ago. Tons of new brands have popped up since and almost all charge a shitload of money because they can - because consumers were brainwashed into thinking that's how it's supposed to be by influencers. Now we're calling Tom Ford and the exclusive lines by Chanel, Dior, Carolina Herrera, Louis Vuitton and so on niche when they're the opposite. They're just super expensive.

    • @goodfay

      Basically. Niche just means they only center around one thing. Pp def put niche on a higher horse . Yes I buy more niche than designer because I want variety. But I have different price range foe niche. Not just a 300 dollar bottle

      @agnesmeszaros-matwiejuk8783 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@noelleirina5628I disagree, niche is a brand that is doing only perfumes, usually quite high quality, and not necessarily your usual mainstream, boring scents. Why should they be lower price? Do you know how much time and effort is into making something extraordinary/, outside the box perfume, just so somebody later copies it? They often deserve the pricing, they should be more expensive than the designer ones.

  • @LotsofLisa
    @LotsofLisa หลายเดือนก่อน +76

    Us as consumers need to realize the power that we have. Products only cost what someone is willing to pay for it. Their survival is our money. My issue is industries are just raising prices, just to raise prices for the same exact products. That was the original Carolina Herrera, no? It was around $80 when it came out, now it’s over $200?! How? Why!?.. and Tom Ford can f right on off! I think one industry sees a couple other industries raising prices so they start raising prices too.

    This is the line that gets me….
    It’s projection lasts for a couple of hours and then turns into a “skin scent.” If I spray a scent because I love perfume, that means that I want to smell like my perfume, not my skin. Why spend the money if it just ends up smelling like me? It honestly makes me feel manipulated.😂 Like, hey, spray 3x a day to retain the scent and then your bottle gets empty sooner. Think about it.

    I know what you mean, I’m reading some of the comments, I know you are an influencer; but, I feel that you have passion for fragrance and just give your thoughts on what you think is beautiful! You make a living off to TH-cam , but we your subscribers tune in to see/hear what’s new and worthy of our hard earned money. Great video

    The cost for designer is ridiculous to say the least, but also the fact that most scents have minimal longevity. Because of that I set out to buy mostly niche and more high quality scents that last. I am excited to get my discovery set from House of Marsté for that very reason. Also, no more blind buys for me. I’ve been burned way too many times.

      Oh my goodness, House of Marsté is phenomenal! Marlena was kind enough to gift me the collection and they are so well done. Une Nuit Parisienne and surprisingly Essence Santal are my favourite 🥰
      I will do a full review soon

    It would be great to have an MFK discovery set. The MFK site had one, but if you order from Canada, you need to pay more than $20 for shipping. And there is no set that included BCR540 and the extrait together. I know those are very known perfumes, but for those that are new into this, it would be great. Also a Frederic Malle sample set. I know it's not considered niche by many, but it still would be nice to have. Then a sample set from BDK, L'Orchestre Parfum, Nasomatto and Fueguia 1833. I also have not seen a sample set from Byredo without having to pay expensive shipping costs or from Diptyque with fragrances you can choose yourself. They have only a sample kit for the Eau de Toilette and not the Eau de Parfums.

    Yes I agree! A lot of these companies crank out so many perfumes, that are just awful! So many of them smell identical. There is hardly any creativity anymore. I purchased so many samples, and 95% of them just plain stink.

    You are my soul sister... I have been saying this for years and now I feel the market is WAY OVERSATURATED!!!! SO many flankers takes away from the real genuineness and Art that the original possesses. It's all about how much money can we make and not creating something unique and special. Things are super hard to find here in the states as well... it costs a FORTUNE to buy retail and even shipping is crazy expensive!

    it honestly took me a long time to figure out you are/were the owner of the scented. There is no about me section and contact us doesn't mention you but the social media linked to you and i kept thinking there has to be an intern missing a letter or dot because someone already has the name thescented.
    i think that could be a bit more clear because while your regulars may be in the loop. I just got recommended to the site because i'm local/Toronto. does the site normally have discount codes? i'm hoping to place an order soon-ish

    • @morethanyourbasics
      @morethanyourbasics หลายเดือนก่อน

      maybe i'm still confused. i just watched a video about savour faire. do you own both?

    • @TheScented
      @TheScented  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes I am the director of both. You can use code SAVE10 for 10% off at thescented.ca
      I don't advertise heavily because I feel it's annoying to constantly pitch it, I just link it in the description and at the end of the videos 🤷‍♀️

    • @morethanyourbasics
      @morethanyourbasics หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ thank you for the code and the response. My order comes tomorrow or sometime soon.
      As someone who found the website somewhere else off of your channel I think it might be beneficial to have an about page on your website. Avoiding talking about it with your viewers is one thing but it might click sooner if the instagram and TH-cam links to you and the about section says that you’re the owner. It could be very LinkedIn and business or casual about how many cats you have and you hate Toronto traffic or something
      It was my first time using your site, I will make sure to support again. Thank you

    • @morethanyourbasics
      @morethanyourbasics หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ might be repetitive but I want to clarify that I was on Reddit or Facebook or somewhere not related to TH-cam looking and talking about sampling.
      Your videos put into context that you CHOOSE the samples and curate what’s available but as an outsider I didn’t know the difference between your site and another. Plus all the social media on your website brought me to you and my first thought was did they miss a . Or _ because my brain thinks I’d see more about the company or if I have a question I’m asking a faceless brand / paid admin not that I’m speaking directly to the head/influencer
      I hope that’s more clear 🤷🏾‍♀️
      Either way I’m looking forward to my samples and it’s nice that you’re local/canadian

    I smelled so many designer fragrances this time of year in search of a new one and I was mostly disappointed because the ones that I liked on the tester did not smell great on my skin. Very disappointed with Burberry Her Elixir which had a lot of great reviews and it smelled ok on the tester but after the entry note, on my skin just had a super powdery smell that made me nauseous 😢. Luckily I just ordered a set with 5 ml bottles and this was one, so I did not spend money on the full bottle. At the same time I think I might have a strange nose/taste because most of the best sold designer fragrances I do not like and the rare flankers I like are usually discontinued. For example, the only Lancôme La vie est belle I actually liked, and it did not smell as the original at all as far as I am concerned, was L’eclat EDT and that was discontinued

    I miss Malibu Musk aerosol spray from the drug store circa 1992. Was inexpensive and a decent scent. I use Chanel Cristalle Parfum on special occasions, discontinued around 2001. Not readily available. Some fakes on ebay. Some real elsewhere and pricy.

    I've been trying in my mind to justify the cost of Gris Dior. I want it REALLY REALLY bad. I went into Von Maur department store the other day and walked up to the Dior counter. Was finally going to buy it. Do you know that the very snotty uppity saleswoman said she's never heard of it...? Lol. So, needless to say, i didn't buy it, and now I'm talking myself back out of it. The price is RIDICULOUS
