I got a XPR .223 Varmint. 24 inch threated barrel, laminate thumbhole stock. I love this gun. It can shoot sub MOA even with me doing the shooting and with factory ammo.
I'm sure you've answered this question... but why did you pick 270 WSM? It's kind of a less popular cartridge. Nothing wrong with that obviously. I just can't remember why you chose the 270 WSM.
You are right about the trigger I think to make it better you would have to buy the Mcarbo spring kit and put them in like you said the model 70 has the same trigger I haven’t had or been around the XPR model but I do like your wood stock they are nicer than the plastic stocks and a more solid platform also like the 270 WSM cartridge
I've used the savage axis, ruger American, and the Winchester XPR. Maybe my XPR is a fluke, but it is definitely better than the savage or ruger. I won't swap my model 70 for an XPR, but my black synthetic stocked XPR has a very good trigger, perfectly adjusted (maybe I was just lucky there too), and it cost me 350 brand new. Is it my favorite rifle, no, but it is definitely a step up from the other "economy" rifles that I have owned and used.
just bought the xpr extreme in midnight camo left hand. It's an awesome looking gun. I bought it in 6.8 western I'm really hoping that cartridge explodes in popularity. I have a leupold vx5hd fire dot I'm gonna put on with talley rings. I've never owned a xpr pretty much all my rifles are tikkas and a sako 85 which is in a whole different league l, but If the xpr shoots il be happy.
Better research the availability of ammo for the 270 WSM before you by one . The 6.8 Westen has taken all the brass from the market from the 270 WSM as its thier new bell and whistle money maker .
Why pass on a non free floated barrel?. Weatherby never manufactured a rifle with a free floated barrel. All Weatherby rifles are pressure pointed and they shoot amazing sub Moa groups. It is interesting you feel that way.
I bought a sub MOA vanguard. It did NOT shoot sub moa, not even close. Even after sending it back to weatherby and them doing a lot of work on it, they returned it with a test target that was just barely under an inch. I could not get it to shoot that. I traded it for a NULA 24B in the same caliber, and the NULA shoots sub moa all day long, every day.
I picked up the Mossy Oak XPR in .300 Win mag. I got it home and I just can’t get over the bolt shroud being loose like that. Is this standard amongst all XPR’s? I haven’t found a source of truth for if they come like this or it’s an issue on them. Do you have any knowledge or insight on this? Are the shrouds supposed to be loose? Has anyone else experienced this?
Regarding the rattling rear bolt cover-just put a few drops of rubber cement on the sides of the inside of it before you re install it. You can still take it off if you need to.

That’s awesome

270 WSM had been on my short list of cartridges I wanted for 10 years. I just came across the rifle and chambering on Buds Gun Shop.
Thanks for the review. I have been thinking of buying the sport model too. You just clinched it for me. I really like the look
It definitely looks good.

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience with the xpr.

Ohh! Sweet setup!
You opened my eyes to the value of the 270 WSM, maybe I can get lucky and find one in a Model 70.
I hope so! Thanks

I took the set screw and spring out and I have a 3 pound trigger on my Winchester XPR 300 win mag . I paid $330 after $100 rebate from Winchester .
It looks nice looking 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Thats a sweet looking 270 rifle how many rounds does that magazine hold
3 with the wsm
Hey Hopey, are you, or have you glass bedded this rifle?
I have not, but I’ve thought about it

It’s my personal preference, but your right, there are more ways to skin a cat

My 2 weatherby vanguards are free floated

I’m not sure either. I’m waiting for an aftermarket bolt shroud to fix it. But, it’s probably not on anyone’s list.
Saw one at a local shop in 6.5 and that loose bolt def turned me off to it.
Best budget rifle trigger is the Remington 783 imo
Nice, thanks
Savage 110 ultralight. 280ai or 7prc. I reload
You may get a trigger spring for macarbo puts you at 2.5 pounds
Oil your bolt sand bolt with really fine sand or get valve lapping compound a soft terrycloth rag polish the bolt major improvements
Is the trigger plastic ?
Plastic trigger guard
So Metal Trigger with a plastic trigger Guard then correct?
@@buckchaser312 yep
i just wish that they would have at least a 5 round mag instead of 3.
That would be nice
😎👍👍👍😎
Thanks!
