Now due to Burns' actions all that money spent is rendered useless as the retirement castle is destroyed so the billionaire can have even more money.
Damn, Abe had the strongest motives. Then throw on top of it everything he had done to each member of The Simpsons family. I think I finally understand silent rage.
His Selfwareness of his senility does show that he is sharper than you may think. For exemple in other episodes "Mother Simpsons", when FBI was arrived the scene with Burns, he pulled one right away to either distract the FBI from Mona or the paintings. With the FBI guy asked: "Are you trying to stall us, or are you just senile?", with Abe replying "A little from Column A, a little from Column B."
I had a similar thought with ‘The War of the Simpsons’, when he tricks Bart and Lisa into cleaning the house so he doesn’t get in trouble for being a bad babysitter
It's plausible that a dog could shoot a man. In real life that happened too. I once heared a news story of how a man was shot by his dog while they were out hunting. Of course the shooting was an accident after all.

Also it could have been Skinner. Remember: he used his mother's makeup and Burns, as a senile old man, could believe it was Marge who did it (with the explanations of that video)
You can also say that Mr burns didn't turn in Abe because Abe would have been arrested and it would have been harder for Mr burns to kill him if that was his intention.

Here's my theory: Mr Burns shot himself, by accident. He accidentally dropped his gun into Maggie's hands, he tried to get it back from her, without realizing that the gun was pointed at him, and accidentally pulled the trigger. He doesn't reveal it because he was to embarrassed by what happened.
It makes more sense if the gun goes off by itself it’s a revolver it’s not hard to imagine the hammer already cocked back and it falling on the hammer causing it to release onto the firing pin he doesn’t realise the gun had fallen
Yes, I suppose that is more likely, after the events of part 2. What one year old has the strength to pull the trigger on a revolver? If you answer that you're a horrible person, you've obviously given a gun to a baby.
It would certainly make sense that Abe is smarter than he leads on, for example in the Great Money Caper he wrote the book they read and seems overall pretty comoetent on the subject.
And let's not forget "Mother Simpson" which took place in between these two episodes where Abe distracts the feds to allow Mona to escape by pretending to be the Lindbergh baby and when the feds ask if he's senile or distracting them he replies "A little of Column A, a little of Column B"

Great video.
I always found a little bit tricky that the plot of the second part slightly implies it was grampa who killed Mr. Burns. To be honest, the first time I saw that episode I was sure it was him who killed Mr. Burns, but I never accounted for the tontine, it makes more sense now. What about the possibility that someone grabbed Burns's gun without him noticing, shot him, and burns assumed it was Maggie because he didn't see the actual assailant?
This is definitely a fantastic theory. It’s somewhat complicated but it does make sense. Grampa Simpson is such a great character and I enjoy all the scenes with him and Burns together. They have a great dynamic and I could almost imagine this happening.
I love that this series came back again. If you're wondering if there's any other solutions, I'll point out the Homer solution. There's lots of hints to that one.
Any of these theories would have been better than Maggie shooting Mr. Burns. It has always bothered me that Maggie never pulled the trigger, it looks like the gun just falls into her hands and goes off.
Another option: Homer How it works - The lynch pin of this solution relies on Mr Burns not being able to recognize Homer, because he can't remember who he is. This is firmly established repeated in the first episode and prior episodes. Evidence from part 1: Homer is driven mad by Mr burns failing to remember or even recognise him. He attacks burns in his office, while being escorted out he threatens burns by saying “You’re a dead man burns, your dead, your dead burns!” At the town meeting, Burns says attacked in his office by unidentified assailant, show despite the homer and burns last incident burns still don’t remember him. Homer responds by saying Doh! Following the meeting, marge says she can’t find homer. Burns walks to back the town hall. He sees Maggie and tries to steal the lollipop. Homer appears and shoots burns. Following the shooting Homer is missing. Evidence from part 2: Homer is showed be mental unstable. Even going besker during a meal the next day. Following the release of Smithers, Lisa comments that in 95% of cases it is usual suspect, but in the rest its some lunatic who did it for no good reason. Homer responds by saying he actually had a really good reason, which is pretty stupid reason and representative of stupidity of homer. DNA Evidence shows Simpson DNA. Burns awakes from coma and starts saying repeating what homer was shouting at him during the office “Homer Simpson.” Suggesting he may some mild form of brain damage. At the home, Finger prints and bullet matched with gun are found in the car. Releasing the gig is up, Homer does not protest his innocence, he just says doh accepting his fate. However, when once in a life time opportunity presents itself he tries to escape. He formulates a stupid plan to force burns to place the blame on someone else. When the police show up he puts a gun to burns head in frustration that burns actually doesn’t remember or recognize him. Burns then says homer didn’t do it. Now we can find a logical explanation around this and Maggie accusation. Burns doesn’t recognize homer from the car park, he can’t remember who he is. To burns this is just a mad man who’s never met before showing up at the hospital rather than same person who shot him, so he says homer didn’t. However, burns is unable to remember the shooters appearance but he can remember Maggie, so he assumes that Maggie was the shooter, instead of homer because he can’t remember homer being there. Burns at this stage is also vengeful towards Maggie saying she’s needs to be arrested. The reason for this is burns is still secretly mad at Maggie for defeating him in a fight over bobo. He may have got bobo but he was humiliated in the process Finally, and more seriously, identification evidence is unreliable in reality, people believe things that actual didn’t happen. The mind is not like a video tape.
I completely agree. I suggested this one too. Especially considering that Homer yells at him "Say I never shot you!" When he remembers everyone was there, he immediately corrects himself and says "before."
Because Mr Burns is unable recognize homer at all. He is simply unable to remember any detail about him any time he meets him. He goes faceblind for homer, so he when homer shoots him, not only can not know or remember its homer, he cannot remember details about homer even being there or the shooter looking like homer. He remembers maggie, she's the only person he can remember, so he assumes she shot him
Burns cannot remember a single detail about homer, despite All the recent events of his life revolving around homer in some way. There's enough to suggest every time Mr Burns meets homers, he's sees it as the first time he's met him.
or, he saved homer for a similar reason as the marge solution. knowing that homer imprisoned for the rest of his life would greatly sadden Bart, Lisa, Maggie and Marge, he decides not to blame Homer.
How about for the next VS: Hurricane Neddy vs Homer loves Flanders? "The two Flanders - out of character exploding outburst - episodes!" Would be cool to hear your take on these two unique episodes :)
Your usage of Balrog's (Boxer's) Theme, a character known for his greed for money as the background music for a topic about finding millions dollars of money between Burns and Grandpa is perfection. Love your videos!
Trump card for to explain Burns accusing Maggie at the end: "I'm having one of my trademark changes of hearts." He recognizes that Maggie is the only person he can accuse without them suffering any consequences, so she's naturally who he shifts to in any instance.
WAIT!!! What if Marge and Lisa did it? Like one of them shot mr burns and the other covered up the others tracks. Ok so mr burns approaches the car, Marge goes to the front and asks, "Where is everybody?". In reality, that was a signal to tell Lisa that the coast is clear. That way, she can shoot mr burns while disguised as Maggie. It would also explain why Marge had Maggie when they all gathered around mr burn's body and why Lisa wasn't there. What do you think about this?
I interpreted the “uh yes” line as Abe getting trying to think about how to get out of this and then realizing the best way to keep Marge from finding his gun is saying yes
You forgot that there was a special episode that Troy Maclure or what ever his last name was hosting that he did mention about Who Shot Mr Burns that he shown us optional people could of shot him as Alts but he gave us a fictional deleted alternative ending that Mr Burns said that Mr Smithers shot him instead of Maggie.
Maybe Burns accused Homer the same way he accused Maggie for Lisa. He was confused by his shooter. I mean Homer IS Grandpa´s son. So maybe Burns got confused.

could someone make a list of all the" who shot" "tie-ins" like raging Abe Simpson. like the one where mare learns to use a gun and other evedince episodes. please
I kind of like the idea that someone on the writing team, long after who shot Mr. Burns aired, said "What deeper motive could I give Grandpa Simpson to shoot Mr. Burns?" and the story of Raging Abe was the result.
No way, I watched these Simpsons episodes yesterday and watched your whole 3 part series too, loved the channel, subscribed, and then the first thing I see in my subscription box is another Who Shot Mr. Burns video! Good work man :D
I actually don't think that Grandpa's sense of honour is a particular obstacle to this solution, not just because he probably believes his life is at risk, but also because if Burns *did* destroy the retirement home with the specific aim of killing Grandpa, then the rules of the Tontine would have already been broken. If Grandpa sincerely believes that, then honour is no longer on the table. Burns struck first. Not to mention the matter of Mr Phelps, who Grandpa doesn't seem to have been in contact with prior to his death. For all Grandpa knows, Burns could have already arranged an 'accident' for Phelps, and now his death must be avenged. Or, more urgently, perhaps Burns is going for Grandpa first due to close proximity, and if Grandpa doesn't stop him, the unsuspecting Phelps will be the next one in danger.
I found the REAL shooter of Mr. Burns! Wanna hear it? It was....Super Dude! The dead 4th grade gerbil. How do I know? Because his death was the thing that started this whole “Who Shot Mr. Burns?” Caper
My theory is that Mr Burns was shot by someone who never actually appeared in the episode but was in an episode soon after, who Mr Burns had tangled with 30 years previously and who was now watchng Mr Burns messing with the peoploe she loved Mr Burns was shot by . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Homer's mother Mona Simpson! Mother Simpson, her first appearance i not long after Who Shot Mr Burns, and Mona sort of appears out of nowhere in it, without it ever showing that she returnd to Springfield and implying she already lived there. Who'se to say that she wasnt living in Springfield when who sho Mr Burns happened, she had heard Homer had 'died' and a deleted scene shows that she heard about him going into space, which implies she knew about what was happening with Homer. Obviously she had also fought against Mr Burns and knew how evil he was, who is to say she didnt find out that he was Homer's boss and making his and his family's life as misery as well as driving her estranged husband Abe Simpson out of his home. We know Mona is protective over her son because her first line in Mother Simpson is 'you awful awful man get out of my son's grave!', and Mona also hadnoting to loose as shewas already an outlaw so she may have shot Mr Burns as he had messed with her and people she cared about. Also, I always found Mona quite quick and agile for someone of her age, since in one episode she jumps out of the prison bus before it falls off the cliff which means she probably ran off after shooting Mr Burns and didnt know that the car she threw the gun into after wiping off her prints was Marge's and could implicate Homer. Mr Burns has no idea who she is as it would be unlikely he would recognise her after 3 years so blames Maggie just cos she was there he has no proof and wants to blame someone (or even he wants to get it over and done with). Late in Mother Simpson Mr Burns goes after her because he recognises the woman who shot him, not the radical from years ago (cos like, again it would not be likely he would recognise her after so many years), and uses the 60s radical thing just cos he has already blamed Maggie and wants her put away, is a total coincidence that they were the same woman.
If the 3 episodes were put together and a few scenes added to make "Who shot Mr.Burns?" 1n2 more of "Abe shot Mr.Burns?" These episodes could have been a movie.
If Burns can't accuse Abe, he can accuse his grandaughter. He's still waiting on Phelps, but perhaps he intends to blackmail/extort Abe for his key. "I'll drop it if you give me the key". Of course as things go, convicting a baby for attempted murder is a fail.
I really like this theory. I always love when one enemy is weak but smart and the other is dim but strong I always love that dynamic. Also why in the hell are you not more well know I only found you by accented.
Just thinking about Bart being scared of SSB but then seeing his dads boss who kicked him into a locked safe and tried to drown him to death for zero actual benefit and having almost no animosity towards him is hilarious. Granted burns is rich, and Bob does become less scary/ constantly gets out of jail too - but still. Funny to imagine.
1 Problem when homer is arrested why does abe keep quiet . I mean there is no sign of granpa feeling sad that homer was arrested for his fathers own crime .
I wish I could say I had some crazy intricately-prepared two year plan, but alas. That one was just a lucky coincidence. I kinda find those coincidences kinda spooky to think about sometimes, almost like fate meant for it to happen.
Omg I've figured it out... Mr Burns was shot by Mr Snrub! That minor, one-off guest character from Marge Vs. The Monorail! Think about it! He's someone who's looks nearly identical to Burns, so when Burns acted so terribly that the whole town wanted to kill him, then Snrub would be in danger too! Snrub could be killed in an act of mistaken identity. He might have wanted to kill Burns to either eliminate that possibility (as soon as Burns is publicly known to be dead, then no one is hunting him and so no one is shooting at people like Snrub, who happen to look like Burns,) or as revenge for Burns's actions having endangered his life in this way. Or he could be doing this as revenge for how Burns's actions have affected Smithers, who we know sees eye to eye with Snrub and has helped Snrub in the past. His name starts with MS, (we don't know his first name, but if we assume that Mr Snrub is what he's known as, then it fits. And for all we know his first name begins with M. Mailliw Snrub, for example.) He's around about the same age as Burns, so likely close enough in strength with Burns for a fight between the two of them to be a struggle, rather than just a cakewalk. And as for why Burns didn't accuse him..? Possibly because he wants to keep him around to use him as a patsy for one of his own crimes. As an evil billionaire, Burns has a ton of uses for a doppleganger, Snrub could be a walking get out of jail free card for Burns. Since if Burns was caught doing another crime in the future, with eye-witnesses or on CCTV, he could insist that it was actually Snrub who did it... But he can't make that accusation if Snrub's already in jail.
That and he probably figured it's a no-lose scenario. Either he kills Grandpa and can easily bribe the authorities and rightful owner to let him keep the paintings, or Abe gets the paintings but will soon lose them when the feds show up.
I legitimately love this theory because it ticks several boxes in storytelling for me. We get a believable way for unassuming characters to suddenly be badass, information that changes the context of past events, and accomplishing the past two points without changing the overall tone of the show going forward. I can believe this because it contains stuff I'd want to do if I was a writer or showrunner on an animated feature.
I offer up yet ANOTHER theory here...what if (hold onto yer socks) but what if...it//was//all of them?! What if Maggie was the bait, Marge was the distraction, Lisa was the constructor and Abe was the shooter?! What if they ALL had a hand in it for their own reasons as Jims has discussed here? Lisa plans it all, Maggie would flash her candy because Smithers told Lisa about Burns' want to take candy from a baby. Then Marge approached Burns from behind and sweet-talked him while Abe took his gun and shot him. Burns would be SO backed into a corner that he could have no choice but to say the most preposterous thing that no one could prove. Or, even more possible would be that the loss of blood or maybe even having hit his head on the car from the force of the shot would have caused partial memory loss or memory corruption so he might even only remember something like "Yeah, I was taking candy from the baby and then I got shot somehow." and his brain filled in the blanks.
You know... That TheRealJims guy has been doing a lot of finger pointing when it comes to who shot Mr. Burns... Almost like he's trying to et us off of his trail perhaps... Hmmmm....

He may have got bobo but he was humiliated in the process
Finally, and more seriously, identification evidence is unreliable in reality, people believe things that actual didn’t happen.
He remembers maggie, she's the only person he can remember, so he assumes she shot him
robertgreally maybe it was willie, he said he would kill him (even though he didn't)
This is my favorite of his theories. Probably because it ties three of my five favorite episodes together.
Your usage of Balrog's (Boxer's) Theme, a character known for his greed for money as the background music for a topic about finding millions dollars of money between Burns and Grandpa is perfection.
Love your videos!
"...Bring that awful Homer to justice." Hahahahaha! Damn. Back in the day literally every line was hysterical.
...wow. That was awesome. I would not have thought of that but it makes perfect sense!
This is a FANTASTIC fan theory! Nice work!
Trump card for to explain Burns accusing Maggie at the end: "I'm having one of my trademark changes of hearts." He recognizes that Maggie is the only person he can accuse without them suffering any consequences, so she's naturally who he shifts to in any instance.
The Hellfish episode shows Grandpa is a badass. Dude dove into the ocean to save Bart
I hope you know, this channel is a gold mine
This is my favourite theory of yours! This is my headcanon from now on
out of all the who shot Mr.Burns theories, this one i like the best
What's with all these old people having the urge and needs to kill each other? **stares at TF2**
These are the best videos on The Simpsons I've ever seen. Keep up the great work!
This is still my personal favourite for the “real” solution.
I interpreted the “uh yes” line as Abe getting trying to think about how to get out of this and then realizing the best way to keep Marge from finding his gun is saying yes
A wizard did it.
Every time something like this happens, as wizard does it.
The Smart-Casual Gamer. But what about in episode ten where-
@@royalpain9281 a wizard did it
@@batmitesolos7097 ....makes sense
This is slander towards wizards!
You forgot that there was a special episode that Troy Maclure or what ever his last name was hosting that he did mention about Who Shot Mr Burns that he shown us optional people could of shot him as Alts but he gave us a fictional deleted alternative ending that Mr Burns said that Mr Smithers shot him instead of Maggie.
courage1 watch part 3
Maybe Burns accused Homer the same way he accused Maggie for Lisa. He was confused by his shooter. I mean Homer IS Grandpa´s son. So maybe Burns got confused.
I get back from Idaho and find this is on my subscription feed? That's a 64-tug worthy surprise!
Good timing, too, since the Flying Hellfish episode aired on FX over Memorial Day weekend.
I really wish there were more episodes of badass Grandpa. I went back and watched the Flying Hellfish episode and my god, it's good shit.
You could continue your Flanders second wife theory with Homer shooting the indestructible Moleman and Flanders seeing Homer shooting but not see Moleman.
At 8:47, when you said "They can't get the authorities involved" and cut to the shot of Wiggum, I'd have used a screengrab of Dr. Nick from "Homer's Triple Bypass" when he says "Let's not get the law involved."
Just something that occurred to me on repeat viewings.
This is my favorite of all these videos but they’re all great
2:58 Shouldn't there be a shot of the "Merry Window Life Insurance" sign from "Homer's Triple Bypass" at this point? :)
Your examination of the lore to these 2 episodes is certainly warranted and eloquently explored.
Holy fuck, i love your simpsons mysteries videos. looking forward for more of them!
This series was really really fun
could someone make a list of all the" who shot" "tie-ins" like raging Abe Simpson. like the one where mare learns to use a gun and other evedince episodes. please
Also, "M-S" could stand for Mr. Simpson maybe(?) if we assume Burns initially intended to blame him
Oh shit! I had just discovered your channel and watched this series and you now upload this video?!?!?!
YOU'RE BACK YESSSSSS
I kind of like the idea that someone on the writing team, long after who shot Mr. Burns aired, said "What deeper motive could I give Grandpa Simpson to shoot Mr. Burns?" and the story of Raging Abe was the result.
No way, I watched these Simpsons episodes yesterday and watched your whole 3 part series too, loved the channel, subscribed, and then the first thing I see in my subscription box is another Who Shot Mr. Burns video! Good work man :D
Good timing!
This is definitely my favorite one in the set!
I found the REAL shooter of Mr. Burns! Wanna hear it? It was....Super Dude! The dead 4th grade gerbil. How do I know? Because his death was the thing that started this whole “Who Shot Mr. Burns?” Caper
My theory is that Mr Burns was shot by someone who never actually appeared in the episode but was in an episode soon after, who Mr Burns had tangled with 30 years previously and who was now watchng Mr Burns messing with the peoploe she loved

Great stuff as always. This channel is amazing
I'd love to see your theory on what happened to She's the Fastest(SLH girlfriend) from the Two Dozen and one Greyhounds episode.
Yeah they never explained that, her and the pups just disappear.
Your video on Marge convinced me that she did it. I will take that believe to the grave.
*Belief
The second you said Grandpa Simpson, I instantly knew what you meant.
If the 3 episodes were put together and a few scenes added to make "Who shot Mr.Burns?" 1n2 more of "Abe shot Mr.Burns?" These episodes could have been a movie.
Holy dang, this makes so much goddamn sense.
If Burns can't accuse Abe, he can accuse his grandaughter. He's still waiting on Phelps, but perhaps he intends to blackmail/extort Abe for his key. "I'll drop it if you give me the key". Of course as things go, convicting a baby for attempted murder is a fail.
Great video. I think one of the reasons Mr Burns kicks Bart into the box is to keep Grampa busy while he makes his escape
I really like this theory. I always love when one enemy is weak but smart and the other is dim but strong I always love that dynamic. Also why in the hell are you not more well know I only found you by accented.
FINALY THIS SERIES IS BACK!!!!!8
I like this theory, it actually makes a lot of sense.. And I like Mr burns coming after Abe's family rather than attacking him directly
This is still my favorite alternate theory.
1 Problem when homer is arrested why does abe keep quiet . I mean there is no sign of granpa feeling sad that homer was arrested for his fathers own crime .
2:16
Yo, is that Farnsworth in the background?
Futurama and The Simpsons are both Matt Groening creations. This could possibly be where the artist took his inspiration.
well now I've binge watched all Simpsons mysteries I bop more come soon this is an intriguing series of theories rhyme intended
I love these videos! Great job
You had the Raging Hellfish episode in your opening forever, you obviously planned this all along!
I wish I could say I had some crazy intricately-prepared two year plan, but alas. That one was just a lucky coincidence. I kinda find those coincidences kinda spooky to think about sometimes, almost like fate meant for it to happen.
I really like this theory itd be crazy to see a later episode confirming it. Obviously its already maggie in cannon but i like it
Really love your videos man
These videos are awesome and all of your theories are totally believable. :)
Mailliw Snrub, for example.)
He's around about the same age as Burns, so likely close enough in strength with Burns for a fight between the two of them to be a struggle, rather than just a cakewalk.
How much do you want to bet that Mr. Burns called the feds in that episode I mean as a final middle finger to Abe Simpson?
Soundwave superior?
That and he probably figured it's a no-lose scenario. Either he kills Grandpa and can easily bribe the authorities and rightful owner to let him keep the paintings, or Abe gets the paintings but will soon lose them when the feds show up.
You scared the shit out of me at 10:16. Did you bump your mic or something? Jesus Christ, I thought someone knocked on my wall.
What the fuck are you talking about. Nothing happened
This is actually the most logical. No holes and the motive makes sense.
These theories are a fun way to view these episodes, though it almost makes me wish The Simpsons were a more serialized show sometimes.
We also see Abe manipulate people (and later brag about it) in "The War of the Simpsons." Not in exactly the way you describe here, but it's similar.
11:39 "oldsters fighting" I'm pretty sure it's just Abe Simpson beating the shit out of Burns before he crashes a boat
I like this theory the best
Grandpa simpson is actually one of my favorite characters
I think this is the best theory out of all of them. Seriously, the Burns and Abe Simpson fued could make a great book or something.
