  • Nathaniel Bassey, the gospel singer, has petitioned the police, requesting the arrest of four social media users over alleged criminal defamation ‏and cyberstalking.
The petition was addressed to Kayode Egbetokun, the inspector general of police (IGP), and submitted on Monday through the singer’s lawyers, Peter Abraham, Uche Matthew, Gbenga Agunloye, and Anthony Abia.
The accused persons identified as Okoronkwo Ejike, Kingsley Ibeh, Terrence Ekot and Dj Spoiltkid had alleged that Bassey fathered Mercy Chinwo’s son.
Bassey’s lawyers urged the police to “investigate, arrest and bring the suspects to justice”, adding that the allegations were made with the “criminal intent” to destroy the singer’s image.
The lawyers also asked for immediate action to prevent further damage to what they described as an “assassination of character” of their client.

The 2 ministers are a National Treasure, how can this happen in Nigeria and the government does not even do something about it.
The government should have taken action.
I am from cameroon and I have been blessed by Pastor Nathaniel and Mercy Chinwo ministration. No matter how you pray it out it is painful ( you pack a handful of peanuts in your mouth and it takes one spoil one in the lot to make you spill it out) One thing I will say to the 2 ministers is that another level another devil. They've been too blessed lately and this does not surprise me. The devil is running mad.
May God bless these 2 ministers and this one shall pass. Amen
Let us all pray for them.

They should be protected and pictures blurr like some countries legislation on media insist. I hope there are lessons learnt and pray that God brings healing to everyone informed. People should know that there are consequences .I love and adore Mercy she should protect her childrens image and enjoy special family moments as family. Social media is a market place so people should be aware whatever you put out there whether good or bad be prepared for feedback. What a shame how people dissect other people. The prevalence of bad behaviour shows that Nigeria is not a rule-based society. Impose huge costs on bad behaviour to act as deterrence. Take the accused to court, let them be fined heavily, and if they do not have the funds, throw them into jail. I am a strong advovate for strict appliaction of the law to act deterrence against bad behaviour.
The state can generate revenue from fines imposed for bad behaviour. The State and Local council prosecution offices shpuld get actove in this regards. They can raise funds for the government. We should get creative in Nigeria.

@@olaitanolaniyan871 Oh please despite the fact that s*xual abuse is a crime I have never come across any follower of the pastors involved calling for their punishment. People are always saying leave it to God or touch not my anointed. When allegations against TD Jake's first started all his followers around the world defended him with the same exact words. The same goes for the late TB Joshua even though there is no physical evidence against him but one thing you should know is that everyone defended him including pastors. So supposing the allegations against TB Joshua are true, how fair are such pronouncements for his victims? Pastors can do anything they want and people always defend them but when an ordinary person does something people are always quick to say that they don't deserve to be forgiven and should be punished. So I will say what I said in my previous comment that those are double standards.

How beautiful, brilliant and amazing are women of this panel !On the other hand, this incident brings up an important issue of parents exposing their children on social media. Here is one of the consequences of all these exposures. Most people will claim that it is their own business, yet when faced with situations like this they will call on support. Parents priority must be to protect , and not creating content using their children all for the sake of followers. Please allow children to decide whether or not they want to partake in their parents online business, at least wait until their own maturity. I strongly believe that this could have been avoided if the child was not exposed in the first place. Social media has become a traumatic place for all humans! I’d even call on the implement of a law enforcement to forbid parents to expose their underage children. Left this be a lesson to ALL of the public figures and celebrities…

These bloggers are so annoying and all that they do is tanish the image of hardworking people who by the grace of God might have upgraded from grass to grace just to build their social media pages. The court has to deal with this seriously to serve as a punishment to others.

Nigerians need to really reflect on their actions. In most African cultures, you can never say anything bad about a baby, as
it is believed babies are angels. I remember when I first came to England, I went to visit someone from my church who had just had a baby. I met one of her friends who happened to be visiting as well at her house. This lady went on to tell the mother that her baby was not fine. I asked her what she meant and why she would say such a thing, she told me in Nigeria, you are free to speak your mind. I explained to her that it was not necessary as every baby is beautiful. She started shouting asking me whether I knew who she was, I excused myself and left. The way Nigerian people insult others is not good at all. These days everyday there is something negative about Moses Bliss' wife as if she committed a crime marrying him. There is no need for this animosity. People seem to be projecting their misery anytime their insecurity is threatened by that person's success

This is so sad😢, they should be punished, why leave it for God. But for Christ's sake, Nathaniel and the cute baby dont even look alike, Nathaniel's face is oblong while our sweet baby's is oval...Sis Mercy, I'm sorry you have to go through this but just relax and let God use the Law to teach them a very big lesson. If he was a mad man we will understand, but hungry to that level? No way man, you go pay and be a scapegoat join

Please they should face the law so others will learn because the rate unscrupulous people do things on social media is disheartening. Please letting the court take its decisions does not mean that the pastors have not forgiven after all our God rebukes and chastises those He loves.
