Entertaining game marred by atrocious officiating on the last Fla drive. They threw three flags -- all bad calls -- and failed to throw two flags when they should have. They batted 100%, getting every call wrong. PS. I'm not complaining about the outcome. I had no dog in the fight. If anything, I was rooting for FSU, and Travis outplayed Richardson, so in some sense, it was a just result. It just leaves a bad taste to see such bad and inconsistent officiating.

Most fans blame refs, especially in football and in basketball. Some of the time, they have good reason to blame them. Other times, they think they've been screwed when they've actually gotten more than their share of the bad calls. It's human nature to lose one's objectivity when your team is playing. My sense is that the officiating in basketball has always been poor and inconsistent, and that the officiating in football has gotten worse. Some of the RTP, late hit and targeting calls and illegal blocking calls are absolutely ridiculous, and the OPI and DPI calls are beyond inconsistent. It's gotten to the point where every time there's a big play, you wonder whether they're going to throw another flag. It becomes harder to watch and enjoy because you can't even celebrate a great play. When there's no flag, it might go to the replay booth. it kills some of the spontanaity and excitement.

before Fla's 4th TD, where PI was called in the end zone, the pitiful ACC refs missed that the play clock was on zero when the ball was snapped. Glad FSU won, but receivers still drop way too many catchable passes, linebackers don't know how to plug holes on short yardage runs, and DBs play receivers' faces instead of the ball (last 2 issues are coaching related). Poor tackling also. But as I said, very glad FSU held on and won the game.

I would rather lose to Miami than the Gators, but I think that Florida played good on offense considering their injuries. I think both teams showed up and played hard for a great game. In the middle of the game I had told my son that win or lose this was turning out to be a great and memorable game. This game, on prime time TV before a national audience, will help both teams and I think they will both improve the next year. I don't think we will ever be at the point of a long term dynasty of the past due to the transfer portal, kids leaving early for NFL as well as coach and assistant coaching turnover to other teams and NFL added to the mix. I do think that BOTH UF and FSU will be strong football teams and higher in the power rankings and that makes both teams perform better. Being a traditionalist, I do like the Gators being the last regular game of the season even if either or both are in their respective conference championship game. Some UF fans don't, but hey UF keeps us on the schedule at that time period. And to be honest it is better than most bowl games.

before Fla's 4th TD, where PI was called in the end zone, the pitiful ACC refs missed that the play clock was on zero when the ball was snapped. Glad FSU won, but receivers still drop way too many catchable passes, linebackers don't know how to plug holes on short yardage runs, and DBs play receivers' faces instead of the ball (last 2 issues are coaching related). Poor tackling also. But as I said, very glad FSU held on and won the game.

As a Gator fan, all I have to say is their defense SUCKS! Could drive a truck through the holes FSU was making. Don't even get me started on the tackling. Travis made them look like a 2nd rate high school team on defense.

@Mizer then you didn't see the years after Galen Hall and the NCAA probation. I'm a Nole and I really don't like the Gators. I would rather lose to Miami than the Gators, but I think that Florida played good on offense considering their injuries. I think both teams showed up and played hard for a great game. In the middle of the game I had told my son that win or lose this was turning out to be a great and memorable game.
This game, on prime time TV before a national audience, will help both teams and I think they will both improve the next year. I don't think we will ever be at the point of a long term dynasty of the past due to the transfer portal, kids leaving early for NFL as well as coach and assistant coaching turnover to other teams and NFL added to the mix. I do think that BOTH UF and FSU will be strong football teams and higher in the power rankings and that makes both teams perform better. Being a traditionalist, I do like the Gators being the last regular game of the season even if either or both are in their respective conference championship game. Some UF fans don't, but hey UF keeps us on the schedule at that time period. And to be honest it is better than most bowl games.
