nearly in tears of frustration because I cannot for the life of me hammer the eyelets in either. I thought I was going insane, honestly. I've tried so many surfaces. I've watched so many videos and they're like 'one wave of the hammer like a magic wand and poof it's good to go.'
Right?? There are absolutely zero that have any trouble shooting tips. I will admit I got some larger eyelets and they worked like all of the tutorials. I also still need to try the suggestion to hammer it on concrete. Will report back if that works.
I was having the same experience and after reading comments I decided to go to the dritz website and see if there was any info there. Their instructions said to hammer forcefully and rotate fabric 1/4 turn with each strike. I took mine outside on some concrete and hammered forcefully 😅. It worked like a charm. The key was the concrete.
Im right there with ya. Kinda frustrating . I feel like there is supposed to be another piece included with these kits. The brim of the setter is stopping the eyelets from snapping together
I'm searching TH-cam tonight to find ANYTHING on this eyelet/grommet kit. Besides your video, I found one from a few years ago where she put the plastic piece on the outside, and I don't know whether or not that's correct, but it seemed to work for her purposes.
Interesting! That's not what the visual aids that came with it suggested... but maybe I'll have to try that! I should note I've done larger eyelets since this, and they worked a lot better.
So there surface under HAS to be like a side walk concrete absolutely the harder the easier. No bounce like a carpet or hardwood floor ! Now I can play my banjo ;)
Why make a video on how to do it incorrectly? For anyone that needs to know how to do this correctly on YT go to professor pincushion eyelet installation she has a very good tutorial that just worked for me. Which I found after this video.
Putting the project on a brick before hammering works like a charm!
Ok, I subscribed. Please make another video for me, because I want to see what else you’re learning. This was too relatable! 😂

Perhaps try hammering it with a hard surface underneath
That is probably what I need to do! I'll give that a try and see what happens.

I have purchased 3 different eyelet setters including the big brand name handheld unit. I've had absolutely no luck with any of them. 🤷🏾♀️
Thank you for validating my experience.

I’m think it’s not working because you’re trying this on carpet. Mine works on a concrete or wood surface. Hope that helps
