Thank you, David Swenson. You have been such an inspiration to me and my Yoga friends. I have your ashtanga manual and all your videos and practice with your videos regularly. I think your book is absolutely the best one out there -with so many modifications and great pictures. Your book changed my life …. It is such a wealth of specific ashtanga information, and was obviously written with great love. And your voice is always calm and soothing and gentle. Thank you with all my heart and soul for all that you have given to the Yoga community and helping people find deep, lasting joy. ✨❤️🙏❤️✨
That’s so funny I first started on yoga through the same book yoga youth and reincarnation. I was 13 too lol I am 70. I learn Ashtanga from power yoga. They talk about Ashtanga I asked if they would teach me. I learn the primary series. They years later I found David’s book on the short forms. That helped the most I cannot do 90 minutes without getting hurt ha ha. He is so wise. This interview was awesome and you did not interrupt like a lot of people. I hope to do yoga till I die. Plus I believe in cardio workouts I ride a mountain bike 30 minutes a day. Yoga cannot give you what a cardio workout will. You need both. And I do Hindu pushups 200 a day and Hindu squats 800 a day . I feel you better have muscles in your older years. But you have to play it by ear maybe don’t workout for a day every so often. David Swenson is right on on everything in this interview. Thanks
@@deeparao18 Maybe it was just the crowd that Davidji encountered, and the timeframe, but not all HKs in general are like that. Every group, organization, darshana, has its fundamentalists or extremists, "our way or the highway" people.
I'm from a Hare Krishna background. It's true that they consider asana to be unnecessary and bodily conscious because their focus is Bhakti or devotion to God through singing, chanting etc but tbh it's just ignorance. Those same people will go to the gym lol. I think they're hostile to philosophies they consider 'impersonal'.
So wise man - thank you David for sharing your wisdom ❤

8:52 I never knew the Hare Krishnas were anti-asana. News to me. 🤔
I'll get him to expand next time I see him 😊
Not sure this is true, i have friends who are Harekrishnas but also practice asana.
