I saw some people on reddit with a "they've been localizing their games internally for years, so that's totally the experience they want for their overseas audience!" cope, justifying Cygames garbage localization. Even in Shadowverse it was bad, they made Luna into a childish brat, instead of a scaredy little girl. Not to mention the insane amount of censorship that plagued the game, hundreds of card arts got gutted.
Yeah, I found those people too. It's pretty bad. In Relink they completely changed Id's character, for example. They just made him some sort of avenger berserker, instead of a misguided protector. I swear, it was not this bad back in 2017. People think (or at least they say the do) that producers, the director and all the important people know about these changes. They do not; they don't speak Japanese and expect the translators to do their jobs properly. How are you gonna check they do proper translation? By hiring another translator? It's just a silly cycle, but an extremely easy way for these types to start changing stuff. That Rackam's "Well, that just happened" will live rent free on my mind for quite a while, that's for sure...
