I was in a game where they had a Bastion and my tank decided to switch to Rein and put up his shield repeatedly in front of bastion and lose his shield immediately every single time
Imma be real if a Bastion is the problem I'm on Ana, Bap or a sniper to get rid of them and expect my teammates to act the same. Bastion has always been a threat/secondary objective to get rid of since OW1 and it's always funny to me when newer players don't treat him as such. You see a Widow you do everything to watch her los and time her charged shots. Bastion in turret form needs the same treatment.

This player needs to understand that as rein, there's nothing he can do against high mobility heroes ESPECIALLY tanks unless they come to him. His top priority when facing a wrecking ball, or any high mobility hero for that matter, is to ignore them and cut off the rest of the enemy team from healing them. If you can kill the backline great, but 9/10 times you'll get shredded if you try to kill anything since you're cut off too. Corners are also rein's best friend. Chokepoints? Hold those until you force out the enemy team's ults to break past. And as emongg said, take away high ground. In fact, ALWAYS go for high ground if you can, then drop when you can divide the enemy team.
I agree on the high ground utilization point because It won't only give your team more angles to pressure from,but also will make it difficult to re-contest because you. However, don't stay there for long,what you can do is force them to play point when your team in on high ground and can support your play by pushing the cart so:they back out which wastes more time, or take the risk of playing in the open especially on dive maps.
You can only see him for a bit, but Cass uses Ult on the ledge above and behind Rein. LW probably heard the audio cue and pulls him away to break LoS. Not that it mattered bc Rein charged back in and died Lmao
Neither of those scenarios happened in the video soooooooooooo… But yeah a better rein would have just blocked High Noon. This rein had no idea what was going on. Frankly this tank played like dog nuts

I would really love if you made a video about what the best comps on every map are. I've heard you say a few times during these spectating videos that a players choice of hero was interesting for the map they are on but don't necessarily elaborate. I think it would be really helpful for lower rank or newer players to hear the why!
Trying to play Hazard with a support comp like LW and Moira is tough. Hazard is a lot like Winston and Doom. He needs a long range support like Ana to help keep him up when he dives in. Otherwise, he just falls over. If their complaint is Ball is on them too much. The best answer to that is Brig, not having the tank stay with you on cart at all times. If no support wants to play Brig then have a DPS go Cass and stick close to the supports. Think the tank played as well as they could have. Their supports just didn't know how to play against Ball.
that was not the case at all. Also it is not on the supports to deal with ball entirely while keeping their team up. Lw is absolutely good for hazard because of the long range heals, heal through walls and pull can save him from diving too hard
@@venicetaylor9326 they didn't say the supports had to deal with ball themselves, they mentioned how a dps could switch too. someone peeling would be ideal, but if you're dying repeatedly to a ball then switching to a character with better survivability against him is 100% a good play. otherwise you're just feeding and doing nothing for your team.
i agree about moira being bad with winston, but i disagree about her being bad with doom. moira can dive with doom and help apply pressure, that’s what my duo that plays moira does when i play doom. doom moira can actually work really well if your moira coordinates her dives with you
LW has good range, doesn't require aim, and has quick reposition tool to get line of sight. And can also be "oh shit" button when you're out of yours (or when he can see smth you can't). Wym LW is tough comp for mobile heroes?
My 2 cents for this game - I would go DVa. Gives you a new positioning option every 6 seconds. Control different high grounds, burst down a squishy, eat some heals, rails or the occasional visor. Yeah, granted, you can do most of that on Hazard, but DVa has easier verticality. You can even mug a Lifeweaver on a petal with not much effort. I get the idea for a shield as having one can rob a lot of value from hitscan like Soldier, but Sigma would be easier than Rein for that - you can temporarily block a high ground angle even without having to climb the stairs, but you could also climb up there, chill and fling your squash balls at the low ground.
I saw this as a person who has done their fair share of Gibraltor Rein-ing: Remember - Rein has a shield, but that does not mean HE is a shield. The shield mitigates damage, but it should be on your team to MINIMIZE the damage they are taking through good positioning, trying to bait cooldowns, playing corners, and other things. Your main threat of rein is occupying the space the enemy wants and needing to go through you to get there. If you turn and charge away, you have gifted them everything they wanted and removed yourself from anything useful to the teamfight. Your team honestly shouldn't stand behind your shield because that means your 1200 health shield is going to break very quickly from you being focused harder and then you are just an ult battery for the enemies. Your shield is there to be the barrier when you are trying to progress forward where cover doesn't exist. Otherwise, you will literally just fall over from the enemies all shooting at the cluster of things behind you.

18:25 this is where I diagnose them with brain death and don't bother. Would love to see a follow up of "where are they now" later from this player to see it this can be fixed. This is every player in bronze. Afk on cart or feed in their spawn, responds with insults to every advice. So far I just decided to not bother anymore
When your team mates ask for a shield, it's not because they necessarily want a shield, it's because as tank you are being completely ineffective, so they figure with a shield all the GOOD players can be more effective.
Or its because they are utterly braindead and think it would help... When I still played ow and I would get asked in diamond to go for a shield tank I'd know all hope is lost because people can't even stay out of los of something or find the windows I give them to rotate. I got told to swap to a shield tank against a cassidy playing on junkertown first point without a pocket by my ana. I told them no and they said gg. I asked what you need it for, they have tracer cassidy ball, it doesn't help and they said it was for cassidy.... I told them to shoot them from a distance with their sniper while getting mercy pocketed and just kill him. That thankfully worked. Because I was for sure not swapping xD
yeahh when they said shield they probably meant sigma to block some of the damage 😭 a dmg boosted soldier/cassidy is terrible to go against if your dps dont kill them/mercy first. plus moira + lw don't need a shield to "hide behind" so i doubt they asked for rein specifically honestly
for all you new hazard players who don't know how to play him: the worst hazards to play against, the ones that infuriate me most as a supp main, are the ones who are constantly all over the map. ill see him engaged with my tank and one of my dps over on one part of the map, and just as i start flanking around to the COMPLETE OTHER SIDE OF THE MAP to pressure the backline, suddenly hazard is in my face and i either die or im lucky to get back to my team.
i feel the supports said to go rein purely to get the tank to actually be apart of the team, cause for the first point the tank was off doing nothing essentially. nothing was getting done. But after the switch, even if the tank wasnt doing great or if rein wasnt the best pick, things were able to happen because they were playing as a team, the tank was actually participating unlike before. so it was never actually about the shield. rather more about wanting the sense of a structured team

You want to lube the track, theres a ton of friction if you push the cart from behind. Smear the enemy team across the path in front of it and it moves remarkably smoother. Find the closest corner to them and own it with hazard. Poke with like shoot shoot flash block (shotgun close). When you see like a half dead squishy, dive, isolate and try to kill it.... The supports whine if they feel like they can't get footing. Figure out what keeps destroying them and try to keep it in check. (One cooldown or a couple shots might just be enough for them to set themselves up. Which you need in order to dive...) but if they really need a 'shield' rein is a garbage choice. His shield has almost no hp and can be bypassed by a million things, compared to like any random lamppost on the map.
One thing ill say about this is some of the ana ults made no sense they seemed like they just hit the button to hit it cause in almost no case would a ana nano a very out of place rein thats stuck in a corner, same with nanoing a rein whos already pushed to far forward with like 2 ppl infront of him whilw the rest are scattered for almost no vaule
Can't imagine complaining about Hazard on your team right now, guy is basically unkillable and will generate a ton of space by jumping in 1v5 and living
I swear if Blizzard started adding cover mechanics like GoW to the game some of these players would start to learn that the geometry of the map can be used as cover and stop standing out in the middle of a court yard or road with absent minded desire to have the clearest view of the area they are looking towards.
I've been playing tank specifically because Hazard is so fun to play. I've noticed I have the complete opposite problem, I get a bit overzealous cause it's so easy to get out of situations with his wall, slash and climbing. But so far I haven't really been punished for playing that way so I just kinda figured that's how he's supposed to be played 😅
Just seems like a new player. Playing more will help not look so lost, and bumping the sensitivity up would help a lot. Right now, it looks like you're seeing enemies and your aim can't move to the target as fast as you want it, and it's making you hesitate
Just play some Hazard in quickplay. Also remember that hazard plays more like Winston/Doomfist than he does like Orisa or Mauga. He just doesn't have the range to be doing poke long range. This person seems way too unfamiliar with how to play hazard to really be playing him in competitive. Like Emongg said in the video, don't use your Spike Guard only once you're 1 hp. It only reduces the amount of damage you are taking, not completely nullifies it. It's much better to use it before you're going to take a lot of damage.
I'm scrolling through all of your videos and can only find feedback on push the payload maps. Please make a video on arena and others, because I really don't have a clue how to position myself on these kind of maps. Especially as a support. I feel like it is impossible to play an Ana without getting flanked at all times. Your videos help my gameplay massively. So thanks for all your effort!

Is this really plat 2...? Do plat tanks really play like this? I know that basically no tank in plat will ever try going highground on second point, that's normal. But this tank just seems to be SO lost. If a support or a dps were like this positionally they'd be like silver/gold. Is the bar just that much lower for tanks?

the issue with this guy is that he feels like hes never playing with his team, hes off trying to solo the ball while their soldier destroys their defenseless support
My guess is they didn't want a shield tank to have a shield, they just didn't want to try and keep a dive tank up which is a skill issue on the supports' part.
Before watching, shields DO save games sometimes. Saw a game yesterday where a shield wouldve been AMAZING and saved the game because a soldier and a soujurn were running the lobby because there was nothing to block that damage
@@brandoncole5533 well if they were so good, they'd probably burn that shield real quick. I assume it could still work with a more aggressive Sig (constantly recycling his shield and hugging corners to get close enough) but not everyone can pull that off especially if those dps know how to quickly rotate and flank the heck out of the shield tank. On rein, I'd probably burn in 0,5 secs in that situations. But I've only played rein in ranked once or twice (because the team really insisted on it) and it went horribly, while I play Sig more or less consistently so I might just be more comfortable with him. You can shield AND attack whereas with rein you have to make a decision, which you can be easily punished for, and pretty much rely on the reaction time of your team. A significant dps diff would be gg anyways.
Emongg, I don't know how to reach you, but I think this is worth investigating. In the last 2 weeks, every game I played had atleast 1 bot. It's blatantly a bot, you can watch a replay and literally see them freeze in place. My theory is that since Marvel Rivals came out, Blizzard just deployed these bots to fill lobbies, and yes most of them are tanks, just go in swinging then die, repeat, no communication, just feed and die. It's sad.
Completely agreed. I only have fun any more playing 6v6 because it’s actually balanced and I can actually play without getting flamed for being a shitty tank. I’m trying to make space, be aware of my team and cover them, AND trying to keep the enemy team away. I can’t do it all at once, and then when I get rolled trying to do my job without my team *I* get flamed. I actually hate the community this game has.
I know that the whole point of this video being chosen was to help this person, but it was the most boring tank vod I've seen in two years of watching this channel. I've seen Mercy videos here with more action.

It's so painful to watch people just feed straight into the attacker spawn door on first point defense (Gibraltar specifically but also in general)

Can't imagine complaining about Hazard on your team right now, guy is basically unkillable and will generate a ton of space by jumping in 1v5 and living
I swear if Blizzard started adding cover mechanics like GoW to the game some of these players would start to learn that the geometry of the map can be used as cover and stop standing out in the middle of a court yard or road with absent minded desire to have the clearest view of the area they are looking towards.

I've been playing tank specifically because Hazard is so fun to play. I've noticed I have the complete opposite problem, I get a bit overzealous cause it's so easy to get out of situations with his wall, slash and climbing. But so far I haven't really been punished for playing that way so I just kinda figured that's how he's supposed to be played 😅
Just seems like a new player. Playing more will help not look so lost, and bumping the sensitivity up would help a lot. Right now, it looks like you're seeing enemies and your aim can't move to the target as fast as you want it, and it's making you hesitate
Just play some Hazard in quickplay. Also remember that hazard plays more like Winston/Doomfist than he does like Orisa or Mauga. He just doesn't have the range to be doing poke long range. This person seems way too unfamiliar with how to play hazard to really be playing him in competitive.
Like Emongg said in the video, don't use your Spike Guard only once you're 1 hp. It only reduces the amount of damage you are taking, not completely nullifies it. It's much better to use it before you're going to take a lot of damage.
As Spilo says, play quick play games to get used to his kit and how it works, then play ranked to really learn how to play him optimally.
I'm scrolling through all of your videos and can only find feedback on push the payload maps. Please make a video on arena and others, because I really don't have a clue how to position myself on these kind of maps. Especially as a support. I feel like it is impossible to play an Ana without getting flanked at all times. Your videos help my gameplay massively. So thanks for all your effort!

Is this really plat 2...? Do plat tanks really play like this? I know that basically no tank in plat will ever try going highground on second point, that's normal. But this tank just seems to be SO lost. If a support or a dps were like this positionally they'd be like silver/gold. Is the bar just that much lower for tanks?

Exactly my thoughts. Im diamond support and plat tank & dps, this guy sucks. Even my worst tanks arent this brain dead lmao. I think this really is plat 2 though, since his teammates are actually very good, i think he's just boosted or smth.

My guess is they didn't want a shield tank to have a shield, they just didn't want to try and keep a dive tank up which is a skill issue on the supports' part.
Before watching, shields DO save games sometimes. Saw a game yesterday where a shield wouldve been AMAZING and saved the game because a soldier and a soujurn were running the lobby because there was nothing to block that damage
@@brandoncole5533 well if they were so good, they'd probably burn that shield real quick. I assume it could still work with a more aggressive Sig (constantly recycling his shield and hugging corners to get close enough) but not everyone can pull that off especially if those dps know how to quickly rotate and flank the heck out of the shield tank. On rein, I'd probably burn in 0,5 secs in that situations. But I've only played rein in ranked once or twice (because the team really insisted on it) and it went horribly, while I play Sig more or less consistently so I might just be more comfortable with him. You can shield AND attack whereas with rein you have to make a decision, which you can be easily punished for, and pretty much rely on the reaction time of your team. A significant dps diff would be gg anyways.

Emongg, I don't know how to reach you, but I think this is worth investigating.
In the last 2 weeks, every game I played had atleast 1 bot.
It's blatantly a bot, you can watch a replay and literally see them freeze in place.
My theory is that since Marvel Rivals came out, Blizzard just deployed these bots to fill lobbies, and yes most of them are tanks, just go in swinging then die, repeat, no communication, just feed and die.
It's sad.

Completely agreed. I only have fun any more playing 6v6 because it’s actually balanced and I can actually play without getting flamed for being a shitty tank. I’m trying to make space, be aware of my team and cover them, AND trying to keep the enemy team away. I can’t do it all at once, and then when I get rolled trying to do my job without my team *I* get flamed. I actually hate the community this game has.
