POSITIVITY BELOW: I took the test today. I just rested like she did. And the moment nurse held that swab, I closed my eyes and chanted Om with every breath, in mind. Held my breath when swab touched my nostril. And focused only on Om in my mind as much as I can. It was over in seconds and just a little bit of irritation for sometime on the wall where it touched. Which was gone soon. It is less uncomfortable than an injection was for you in childhood. If you want to scale it. I just hope you read this comment in this bunch of over-exaggerated comments. You get a very weird tingle feeling that lingers even after they are finished with the swab. I swear all day yesterday my right nostril didn't feel quite right! Feels like they hit a nerve and it just sends the weirdest sensation in your nose...that is the best way I can describe it. Not painful but not pleasant either!
There are 2 tests. The shallow test if your lucky to get it just feels uncomfortable. Unfortunately I had the latter. The deep probe will leave you pushing the nurse back very aggressively to get her to stop. There was blood on the probe when she pulled it out. Horrible pain.
Me too, bullshit is what it is. I thought they would test my saliva, as I went in they put such a long thing down your nose for 10 seconds! With no other way to test for this shit really? With our level of technology with scans and other various equipment this is the only way?

i just got the test done today and it is nothing like what these negative comments say. the nasal swab does not hurt, it can be pretty intimidating at first but once it goes into your nose it just feels like a feather up your nostrils. it is more ticklish than anything. these comments are to freak people out, bet half of them never even had the test. i didn't get a nose bleed like the comments say, if you do it most likely wasn't done right. the only thing i got was watery eyes, which is no big deal. to anyone worried about getting the test, i was in the same boat as you and got myself all worked up for nothing. everything will be fine

Other than using an enormous swab compared to the one we use, this is by far the best instruction video and I used it to train some nurses. Thank you! As for all the people complaining or joking about it... come on! I've had nurses test on me for practice like 100 times by now, it's completely painless, tickles and annoys a bit, but its over in seconds.
To the people that are scared, it does not hurt. For people that bleed from the nose frequently, have nose surgeries and stuff like that you may bleed but it does not hurt, it feels a bit uncomfortable and forces you to sneeze or cough but it does not hurt.
For some it does not hurt. For others it 'IS' EXCRUCIATING 'invasive pain'. But it goes fast and does not linger. I did not cough afterwards. Do something special for yourself as a treat afterwards. I milk shake or a drink. LOL!

Thats the deep swab. You are lucky the nurse was kind to you. The one I had kept it buried and kept twisting and pushing even though there was no more room for the swab to go for like 20 seconds or more.
James Gray She used a throat swab which is more like a Q-tip that does not bend. That’s the wrong one. The one that goes into your nose has a thin plastic handle that bends to navigate the turns and blockages of your nose. The swab part is different as well, for easier entry and retrieval of specimen.
Nooo this hurts and burns so bad! It equivalent to having pop (soda) running up your nose. But I heard that the pain you experience depends on the size of your nasal cavity but I'm not sure

Very uncomfortable? I had to get this test done mandated by my job. It’s very painful and was left in my nostril for what felt like 20 seconds. It felt like was up by my eye. My eye definitely teared and my nose was bleeding.
I got it done today. It felt like I was stabbed all the way to the brain. And it burns your nostrils. I had a big headache after that. When I got home I spit a lot of blood....Now I'm concerned since I'm pretty sure I'm positive. They will have this test done again. When covid 19 is gone .

Yep. Holding breath and nice dose of a pain med an hour before helped me the second time. Bottom line, it hurts some 'badly', others 'not a all', some 'minimally'. Mostly short-term pain I have learned and observed. Worth it. Needs to be done.

i wouldn’t call it painful, but more so uncomfortable. for a second it’ll be comparable to the same feeling you get when you water’s stuck up your nose in a swimming pool.. then it’s over. it also helped going into the test knowing that i was doing this not only for myself but for the safety of others as well.
Here we are in 2023. I was forced to take the swab. It was painful, caused a nose bleed, and a 3 day headache. I was, a LEO now retired, the test done by a young B/F who, I am convinced made the test as painful as possible. All for a scamdemic .
and if you havent noticed there isnt a universal standard in this country , people are doing different things, i test dozen folks a night , just nasophar swab in rotate once smoothly and out, dont get any false negatives either, whats your experience, maybe u work in a clinic ??
Had to undergo it twice. It's kinda painful, but nothing to be panicking about. Just hold your breath and live through those 10 seconds and you'll be fine.
Just had the nasal swab done today. There is no way the person administering this test went back far enough. I’m guessing this could very well change the outcome of my test results? My only other experience was a nasal swab for influenza and that pretty much sucked. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. TIA
It is not bad at all, it’s like the swab for strep but 5x easier. It may look painful, but it only tickles and the only reaction I had was sneezing directly after. 😀👍
I had to do an at-home COVID-19 test recently because I was sick. I wasn't too sure about it at first, but the swab didn't feel bad once it was in my nose. It definitely tickled a little, but I didn't sneeze at all. My eyes _did_ get a little watery for a few seconds, though.

I just had this done today because I have surgery on the 27th, and it is not as bad as these comments are making it seem!!! this is one reason why so many people refuse to get tested because of the process. I watched a video before watching this video and the nurse didn't do it like this at all. She did a swab of both nostrils but she didn't go deep inside her nasal cavity like it's shown in this video. I don't like this demonstration it's dangerous the cotton on the swab could come off and that would be a major issue.

I was worried after reading all the comments here, but I would say it's not painful just little uncomfortable...I stopped my breathe for few seconds and that helped me.
I was recently tested (don't worry it was negative), and I got the nasal swab. It actually wasn't that bad. My eyes barely watered and it didn't hurt that much. Like the lady said, it's uncomfortable, but it wasn't that bad.
I got the test at a children's hospital so I'm not sure if it was any different but this is how I would describe what it felt like: It kinda felt like when you get water up your nose but only on one side and it didn't feel exactly like that... I'm a big cry baby and to be honest, it wasn't THAT bad. I certainly hated it and had tears in my eyes, but I just kept my fists clenched the whole way through and tried to stay still. Also something weird was that after it was done, it still felt like it was in my nose for about 10 minutes.

I did it at the airport and it was just awful. I didn't expect such procedure and my nurse didn't explain anything and didn't say how long it will be. It was much longer than two seconds and she succeed to do it just from the second try. Maybe with such a great and experienced doctor like in this video the procedure is much more bearable, but not in my case. I can't say it's painful, but sooo uncomfortable I can't describe.

If you compare this video to others which allegedly demonstrate the same testing procedure, this one seems to take longer with the swab being placed up the nasal passage? Other videos clearly show it only takes a second. Why is that?

Hello. has any of you been tested? if everything is fine? Two of my friends had recently been tested and complained of headaches up to a few days after the test, they generally felt unwell.
I just had it done at a county setup, I have to admit that it wasng pleasant but tolerable. It became somehow painful when the swab is deep inside your nose and just about I was about to scream , it was over.
The test seems to have changed. More tests techs/ nurse are NOT going as far back into the nasal cavity AS BEFORE. Far, FAR less pain when they do not. That sensitive area is at the back where your nasal cavity take the bend down towards the neck.
They should have just shown this in the beginning to everyone. Ain't nobody want this.

i just got the test done today and it is nothing like what these negative comments say. the nasal swab does not hurt, it can be pretty intimidating at first but once it goes into your nose it just feels like a feather up your nostrils. it is more ticklish than anything. these comments are to freak people out, bet half of them never even had the test. i didn't get a nose bleed like the comments say, if you do it most likely wasn't done right. the only thing i got was watery eyes, which is no big deal. to anyone worried about getting the test, i was in the same boat as you and got myself all worked up for nothing. everything will be fine

Other than using an enormous swab compared to the one we use, this is by far the best instruction video and I used it to train some nurses. Thank you!
As for all the people complaining or joking about it... come on! I've had nurses test on me for practice like 100 times by now, it's completely painless, tickles and annoys a bit, but its over in seconds.

To the people that are scared, it does not hurt. For people that bleed from the nose frequently, have nose surgeries and stuff like that you may bleed but it does not hurt, it feels a bit uncomfortable and forces you to sneeze or cough but it does not hurt.
For some it does not hurt. For others it 'IS' EXCRUCIATING 'invasive pain'. But it goes fast and does not linger. I did not cough afterwards. Do something special for yourself as a treat afterwards. I milk shake or a drink. LOL!

James Gray She used a throat swab which is more like a Q-tip that does not bend. That’s the wrong one. The one that goes into your nose has a thin plastic handle that bends to navigate the turns and blockages of your nose. The swab part is different as well, for easier entry and retrieval of specimen.

Very uncomfortable? I had to get this test done mandated by my job. It’s very painful and was left in my nostril for what felt like 20 seconds. It felt like was up by my eye. My eye definitely teared and my nose was bleeding.

Yep. Holding breath and nice dose of a pain med an hour before helped me the second time. Bottom line, it hurts some 'badly', others 'not a all', some 'minimally'. Mostly short-term pain I have learned and observed. Worth it. Needs to be done.

Here we are in 2023. I was forced to take the swab. It was painful, caused a nose bleed, and a 3 day headache. I was, a LEO now retired, the test done by a young B/F who, I am convinced made the test as painful as possible. All for a scamdemic .

It is not bad at all, it’s like the swab for strep but 5x easier. It may look painful, but it only tickles and the only reaction I had was sneezing directly after. 😀👍

I just had this done today. I thought they were only going to scrape around the insides of my nose, but i soon realized it didn't stop there. They had gone ahead and rearranged my brain with the swab.
For me personally, it did not hurt that bad. It did sting and that was uncomfortable. I had it done on both nostrils, my eyes watered, and my nose even bled a little. I thought it would feel like shoving, but it mostly feels like stinging and a burning deep in your nose slightly above your throat, but it's only for 10 seconds so it's not that bad.
It sucks I work in the medical field and guess what I have to be tested biweekly not fun.

Your eyes will water up but it doesn't hurt, it's just a weird feeling like temporarily getting water up your nose, or that feeling you get before you sneeze, or drink a very carbonated beverage. I just had this done today because I have surgery on the 27th, and it is not as bad as these comments are making it seem!!! A little bit uncomfortable while it’s in than once they pull it out nothing, just a sneezy feeling and your eyes will water for about a minute after. this is one reason why so many people refuse to get tested because of the process. I watched a video before watching this video and the nurse didn't do it like this at all. She did a swab of both nostrils but she didn't go deep inside her nasal cavity like it's shown in this video. I don't like this demonstration it's dangerous the cotton on the swab could come off and that would be a major issue.

I was recently tested (don't worry it was negative), and I got the nasal swab. It actually wasn't that bad. My eyes barely watered and it didn't hurt that much. Like the lady said, it's uncomfortable, but it wasn't that bad.
I got the test at a children's hospital so I'm not sure if it was any different but this is how I would describe what it felt like:
It kinda felt like when you get water up your nose but only on one side and it didn't feel exactly like that... I'm a big cry baby and to be honest, it wasn't THAT bad. I certainly hated it and had tears in my eyes, but I just kept my fists clenched the whole way through and tried to stay still. Also something weird was that after it was done, it still felt like it was in my nose for about 10 minutes.

I did it at the airport and it was just awful. I didn't expect such procedure and my nurse didn't explain anything and didn't say how long it will be. It was much longer than two seconds and she succeed to do it just from the second try. Maybe with such a great and experienced doctor like in this video the procedure is much more bearable, but not in my case. I can't say it's painful, but sooo uncomfortable I can't describe.

If you compare this video to others which allegedly demonstrate the same testing procedure, this one seems to take longer with the swab being placed up the nasal passage? Other videos clearly show it only takes a second. Why is that?

I did the mouth swan early not nearly as uncomfortable or painfully looking as the nose swab.. but it is at the back of your throat..

The mouth test would be much better. This looks really bad, I am sure it hirs the brain 😲
The test seems to have changed. More tests techs/ nurse are NOT going as far back into the nasal cavity AS BEFORE. Far, FAR less pain when they do not. That sensitive area is at the back where your nasal cavity take the bend down towards the neck.

They had troubles finding my swab so they did the procedure 4times..imagine 4times of pain I almost fainted 😡😪😭
