- Today marks the eighth day after ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa was sworn in as the president of the country's seventh democratic administration. However, the president has yet to announce his cabinet. There appears to be a standoff between the ANC and the DA over the allocation of key cabinet positions. There are leaked letters purported to be from both parties. Neither party has agreed nor denied these letters. However, it seems the parties negotiations are at advanced stages. The GNU currently has 10 political parties it remains to be seen which parties get much sought-after cabinet positions.

The amount of ministerial positions offered by the ANC and demanded by the DA are based on different value principles. The DA's demands are based on proportional representation in cabinet, based on the election results, while the ANC offer is based on the expected average bowel movements of the ANC NEC movements over the next few days, including that of Cyril Ramaphosa.
Yip, proportional representation isnt against the constitution and its at least mentioned in their signed agreement.

Use your leverage. It’s a function of coalition politics. Let the ANC try and run a minority government if they give the DA a raw deal. They’ll have to vote on picking their noses or taking a bathroom break. Our government is so bad that it’s better for the country if they can’t do anything.

The ANC need to be pragmatic and return to their supporters that they alienated rather than their arch enemies.
The DA forgets that the appointment of the Cabinet remains the President's constitutional prerogative. The GNU agreement does not trump the Constitution.
