Yes it is! I actually use a combination very similar to Ms Becky’s, except for glass and mirrors I sub in rubbing alcohol for the lemon juice. I also add several drops of favorite pure essential oils, like mint, tea tree, and orange.

    • @RunninUpThatHillh
      @RunninUpThatHillh ปีที่แล้ว

See I used to use essential oils until the herbalists I learn from (humble home herbalist here😆) explained that they're hormone disruptors (not just lavender), they kill the gut biome also which is the mechanism ...I think..that is the cause of lowering the immune system. But I used them for years too.

I’ve been watching you for about 2-3 years. I’m a 76 yr old widow for 7 1/2 yrs. When I saw this cleaning video I got right up and made it. I have not looked back! It’s what I’ve needed. I am allergic to many fragrances and odors. I have spray bottles in my bathrooms and kitchen /laundry room. I can’t thank you enough. Not only does it work on EVERYTHING it’s saving me tons of money and space. God continue to bless you. Your sister in Christ, Marie from Reading PA.

Like you, I have been widowed earlier this year. Since then I have been cleaning our home (not as well as my wife used to}. I have come to the end of all the products my wife had went shopping last week and looked at all the cleaners bathroom, kitchen, walls, work surfaces, Sinks, hobs and ovens. That would have cost about £20 or $30, I thought they couldn't all be that different, there was no such thing as a general cleaner. So I came here to find tips and found this recipe, it seems to do everything. Which I am sure as good as the products listed.

If you want to make it smell a bit pretty, take a half gallon or gallon jug, fill with lemon, lime, orange, or grapefruit peels then fill with white vinegar until the peels are covered. Let sit for 6-8 weeks then strain. Use this vinegar to create your cleaning spray.

God bless you Becky. Thank you for this helpful and timely video. Another inexpensive option I use for cleaning my counters and tile floors: boiling water straight from the teapot. It kills germs and no extra ingredients necessary. Also, boiling water is the most natural and economic friendly way to kill pesky weeds growing between bricks or blocks on pathways or walkways for example. The weeds wilt immediately and can be plucked out easily without backbreaking work. Have a good weekend everone!

You don't need to use this one too often but if you or your dog get sprayed by a skunk this will help. Hydrogen peroxide one of those brown bottles from the dollar store should do it. A tablespoon of dish soap or liquid hand soap. And 1/3 of a cup of baking soda. Mix in a bowl or spray bottle. Don't get it in the dog's eyes give it about a minute to let it work. Then rinse out. God gave us these little four-legged angels we have got to look out for them. God bless you all I hope this year's better than the last.

I can testify that this absolutely 100% works. My dog has been sprayed 4 times in the past 2 months and we’ve used this every time and it works wonders. Just don’t leave it on long and it did lighten my dogs black spots to brown so be prepared for that. I also put some baby oil on my dog due to her having sensitive skin and it seemed to ease her itching from the baking soda drying it out. If anyone has any better suggestions on what to use on her instead of baby oil I’m all for trying new things.

I use vinegar in my carpet scrubber all the time and it works great. I use it in all kinds of cleaning. I think a lot of people get caught up in all the strong exotic or whatever perfumes that are loaded into the commercial cleaning products. If it doesn’t smell a certain way, they think it’s not getting things clean. This mixture Becky is sharing will neutralize unpleasant odors, but doesn’t necessarily smell perfume like. If I put some orange peels, cloves, and a cinnamon stick in a pot of simmering water, my whole house smells amazing in no time with no harmful toxins added in.

I will definitely add this to my arsenal! Thank you very much. A tip from my grandma, ammonia can be your best friend. I mix 1/4 cup of non sudsing ammonia to 1 - 1 1/2 cups of warm water and mix well. This works wonders on glass, windows, mirrors, and the outside of enamel appliances, not stainless. I also used to use this on my floors when I could get down on my hands and knees. Now for my floors, I use bleach mixed with hot water. God bless you and your family Ms. Becky.

I used to clean apartments after people moved out. The boss had us use ammonia on the floors with a scrub brush. I can't get on my hands and knees and scrub floors anymore, but that ammonia worked great! We used a single edge razor for scrapping off built up soap scum before we used a cleaner on it. I've used recipes like Becky's and they clean very well. A DIL bought my some of that Jaws cleaners and just started using that lately.

Thank you Becky. Just what I've been looking for! SPECIAL TIP: Forget Draino & Liquid Plumber! For clogged toilets and sinks, Run very hot water into the toilet or sink, add 1/2 cup dawn and more hot water. Let sit for at least 1 or 2 hours. Use a plunger a few time if necessary, Presto, clog is gone. Saved hundreds of dollars on plumbers bill this way.

Here’s a few hints to help save money for everyone
I use 20 mule team borax on a lot of things, I sprinkle it on my carport floor throw a bucket of hot water and scrub with an old push broom, it gets all the red mud off and the concrete looks new. I use it in my laundry, especially hubby’s work clothes, you can make a paste with it and dish soap for stains, I keep old toothbrushes to scrub clothes, around the edge of my sinks and any other little crevices a cleaning rag won’t get to.
I like the persil laundry detergent, but, I dilute it with at least half warm water. It works just as well and I only use about a tablespoon in the wash.I haven’t bought laundry detergent since 2020.
I also dilute my dish soap with half water and pour it in a little squirt bottle from dollar tree, it works just as well as full strength.
I clean my washing machine with white vinegar, I just pour it in the detergent dispenser and run a cycle of hot water.
I quit using dryer sheets about 15 years ago because I kept noticing build up on the lint screen, I’ve been using the wool dryer balls. That’s a lot less chemicals on our clothes. You can put a few drops of essential oils on the dryer balls if you want a nice scent. I use lavender oil.
A bar of zote soap is also good for clothing stains, just wet the stain and scrub the bar of soap on it.
    Thank you Becky!
    God bless you!

I usually just use White Vinegar for everything. Although, for my sink drains, I use one part baking soda, one part salt, and pour vinegar on top. Let it sit about 15 minutes, rinse with water. I clean my oven and microwave with lemon juice. I pour some in a small bowl, like a custard cup, heat it up, and then let it sit in there with the door closed long enough for the steam to cover the walls (so obviously longer in an oven than in a microwave 😊). Then I just wipe it out with a warm damp clothe. I don’t clean my oven very often, so it gets in pretty bad shape, but I haven’t had to do much scrubbing on it at all when I use this method. It makes the house smell nice, and there are no toxic fumes from commercial cleaners. Not to mention a little cup of lemon juice is a LOT cheaper! You can also use actual lemons just by cutting them in half and heating them cut side up.

I got this idea from another you tuber. It works great for shining, disinfecting and cleaning. I don't have exact measurements. I start with a spray bottle: about 2 tbsps of dawn or off brand version, 1/3 bottle of rubbing alcohol (or less to preference of strength) and remainder water. The soap isn't sudsy but cleans and the rubbing alcohol creates a nice shine and feeling of any lingering germs being removed.

Hello , to wash the glass doors of the shower its best to mix 80% vinegar and 20% liquid soap , I made this recipe myself as others didn't help , it leaves the glass shiny and clean use a microfleece cloth and wash with circular movements , make sure it is all covered and leave it for about 30 min ,it depends how dirty it is , then rinse .

    • @annep.1905
      @annep.1905 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@MIGHTYRIVERS19 You should be able to keep hard scale off your showers thereafter with a 50/50 mix of Dawn dish detergent and hot vinegar (it doesn't have to stay hot, but should be hot when mixed with the Dawn). Simply wipe a small amount of the mixture on your shower and tub walls and leave it on. Next time you shower, simply reapeat the process.

I've been using this vinegar/dawn solution for years. I didn't know you could add lemon juice too. Outside I also use it to kill weeds around the house. Do it on a sunny day and the weeds are brown before evening. safer than using roundup close by.

I'm so glad I found this video today. I was just about to buy some oven cleaner, but I just hate the smell.
For a cheap disinfectant, I take a spray bottle and pour in 1 and a half cups water, 1/2 cup alcohol, 1/2 tsp. Dawn. Give it a little shake, spray, and wipe away germs. It also cuts grease and makes things clean and shiny. Very cheap too.

I would add one note- don't use on natural stone. A natural cleaner for stone is 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol, 3/4 cup water, 1 small squeeze of Dawn dish soap, and 5-8 drops of tea tree essential oil ( or your favorite)

This is really good , thank you . I make my own recipe for cleaning #Shower #GLASS #DOOR , after trying expensive products which didn't work I found that the best is vinegar , some liquid soap , mix and just cover the glass door with circular movements , leave it for about 30 Min , rinse with water and cloth , if its still water stained repeat , it works for me very well. Put in a bowl enough vinegar to wash your door , depends on the door or doors , should be 80% vinegar and 20% liquid soap , mix well and its ready.

Just a reminder--NEVER mix ammonia & bleach. I put ice cubes and baking soda in the garbage disposal to clean & freshen it. I like to cut up worn out soft flannel PJ's for cleaning cloths. Brush your teeth with baking soda--it cleans them really well and freshens your breath. One of our thrift stores uses grease pencils for pricing--I use vegetable oil to get it off non-porous surfaces (not books or paper labels).

I believe that there are some surfaces that you should not use vinegar on. Not sure exactly what all that includes but I believe certian counter top material in kitchens and bathrooms are one example. I would be very careful and not assume it can be used on any surface.

You forgot to mention how fantastic it smells!!!!
Have used that same mixture for decades!!!
Don't just clean the outside of your camper/rv with it, clean the inside too.
Great for cleaning rvs in protected areas and state parks, no harsh chemicals.
Made this stuff when I was a youngun, except we used joy dish soap back then.
Years ago I rented a place where you just couldn't turn your head for a few seconds before mold would start coming up in the shower.
Sprayed this stuff on it every time I got out of the shower, no problems, no constant scrubbing.
Used this stuff and a loofah sponge on that shower once a week, in addition to just giving it a spray after use and it never came back while I lived there.
Every time I moved to a new place, I'd add a some bleach to the mix to clean the entire house before moving in, just couldn't stand the thought of other folks' germs all over the place.
This is what the old folks mostly used, and they knew what they were doing.

Bleach is not very healthy to use. Try using with a couple drops of dawn, in a spray bottle filled 2/3rds with warm water, fill the remainder with hydrogen peroxide, and spray. It will kill bacteria, mold, and mildew.
