I see that looking something like this: It starts with a greatsword blade that is bloodied but with little patina, as Yasha, the fallen aasimar barbarian (Ashley Johnson) rages and wings sprout from her back. As she rushes into the fray, in walks the firbolg cleric, Caduceus Clay (Taliesin Jaffe) with some decorations from the fallen tiefling blood hunter, Mollymauk Tealeaf (same player) adorned on his staff. Cutaway to Caleb Widogast, the human wizard (Liam O'Brien) closing a book and pulling out a diamond. From said diamond, it shifts from fire, lightning, ice, acid and poison, eventually landing on lightning. Something shows up, only to get shot by Nott the Brave, the goblin rogue (Sam Riegel). A hand shows up on her shoulder, causing her to jump, only to see it belongs to Jester Lavorre, the tiefling cleric (Laura Bailey), giving her a trickster's blessing. Cutaway to another creature being brutally beaten by a human monk named Beauregard (Marisha Ray) and her quarterstaff. The half-orc warlock, Fjord (Travis Willingham), joins by her side, back-to-back, falchion in hand ready to attack. He fires an eldrich blast to another creature, who blocks it, and it reveals to be the Dungeon Master, Matthew Mercer himself.
All depends on your group. My first group I was the newbie. I sucked. I wasn't a bad player, per se, but my character was boring save for one little quirk which the DM thought was annoying and insisted I get rid of it, and because my character wasn't all that creative I coudln't really do much with him other than dish out damage and take it. The second group I was with did a lot more roleplaying and were an easy-going bunch. Made an old-man bard who'd been around the block more than once, and while he had Southern Charm (and accent) he had EXTREMELY little patience for the rude or stupid. Had the group not split up, I probably would have TPK'd us by accident in our last session anyway. Last group I played with was a boring group. We played Starfinder. Mostly we just kind of screwed around for several sessions while waiting for the starship that was supposed to come pick our mercenary band up from the planet a few months of in-game time later. We tried to make things happen, but other than pissing off some giant four-legged green monster that none of us recognized, exploring a cave that had explosive stones in it and accidentally starting a war between the local bug-people race and some base of human military that we'd been sent to in the first place to help them get rid of some space-pirates that had been in the area (that didn't go well. We were blown out of the sky before we could do much other than say "oh shit!" which was how we got marooned in the first place). Supposedly it was inspired by Avatar, but since neither faction really had anything to offer us in terms of getting off-planet sooner rather than later (the bug-people had most of a ship in pieces, but even if we got it functional they had no fuel for it and neither did the military base other than fuel for simple land-based vehicles.) I left that group and I haven't played at all since. There's not really anybody to play with around here, and playing online doesn't really appeal to me.
Five years later and it has now come full circle with the release of Vox Machina, the animated series. The cast needs to reprise their cosplay roles in commemoration of the new series. Love. Them. All!

I really hope that the new group will get a similarly awesome intro in the future. I mean, the awkward 80's thing is nice and all, but I desparately need Talisien in an amazing technicolor dreamcoat and Sam cosplaying as a little green girl...

I'm only one episode 8 and this was a few months ago but I hardly doubt they can. It's a lot more makeup and costume design, probably way too expensive since their show probably blew up during campaign once. Maybe they will. Who knows. Also Laura was pregnant and know has a son, so that might have played in factor too.
I feel honored to have watched this group grow into the international success that they have become. The level of growth from a a personal leisure time experience to a the career enhancing phenom is incredible. Kudos to all of you for taking something you love and making it a vehicle to success in so many aspects of life. May the future offer you all that you have worked so hard toward. Dude ... Coolest intro EVAR!!!!! Loved each character, especially Sam's "Hold on, let me handle this for you" moment, lol. Really dug the slow flame reveal of the logo too. Can't wait to watch the latest exploits of Vox Machina.

What doesn't make sense is Grog wielding his axe. I mean, at that point, he was almost exclusively using Craven Edge, and even before that he was primarily using the flaming warhammer. He hasn't used his axe in a regular fashion for quite a while at that point.
My only complaint is Ashley's wig. Her own hair, like in the previous intro, looks much better. Aside from that, kudos on the great new intro guys :) Seeing Vax go invisible and a live bear next to Vex would have been incredible additions. Also, Ale!

So I've been watching live on twitch since episode 4 in 2015 and have come back to rewatch the episodes again, this legitimately brought tears to my eyes. I love this show.
And I come back to this now, 7 years later, having just watched the new C3 animated Bell’s Hells intro and can only think ‘Well this has been one hell of a ride. Can’t wait to see what comes next’.
@@Limaonyx Yeah, the first 20ish episodes are a little hard to get through. Between the censored artwork used in the character intros (it wasn't fan art of the characters, just random generic fantasy pictures, and then they realized they were also copyrighted and thus blurred them out), the audio drops, the lower quality microphones, and some tension with a certain person at the table as the show went on. Once they finished the Vasselheim arc and started the Briarwood one, the quality jumped up significantly. Still worth going through but the show definitely has major growing pains those first couple dozen episodes.
@@VegetaLF7 Yeah, i'd say skip to episode 25 ish if you're just starting C1, you won't miss much. But the Briarwood arc and the chroma conclave arc are so good, it beats the entirety of C2 to me.
I love how grog still has a beard! I'm still a while's back, on the episode where vax shaves half of it off. But it's pretty cool to see it's grown in nicely

Mercer always has the coolest reveals. Love the mask removing on this one and the freeze frame of the dice in the original.

@@Limaonyx Yeah, the first 20ish episodes are a little hard to get through. Between the censored artwork used in the character intros (it wasn't fan art of the characters, just random generic fantasy pictures, and then they realized they were also copyrighted and thus blurred them out), the audio drops, the lower quality microphones, and some tension with a certain person at the table as the show went on. Once they finished the Vasselheim arc and started the Briarwood one, the quality jumped up significantly. Still worth going through but the show definitely has major growing pains those first couple dozen episodes.
@@VegetaLF7 Yeah, i'd say skip to episode 25 ish if you're just starting C1, you won't miss much. But the Briarwood arc and the chroma conclave arc are so good, it beats the entirety of C2 to me.

Even though this is five years old now the effects hold up really well! Same goes for the cosplay, all the outfits look impeccable

After seeing this like a dozen or so times where I'm up to I just noticed Pike is making hearteyes at Percy. Ashley's performance here is so good.
