Not only I cried with the video but also I understood it was a message of my dad, who had died of a stroke in his workplace 2 weeks ago...he was my hero, a big and humble man, thanks for everything dad 😢. It's harsh but I know it's time to let you go🎶 Rest in peace, my dear father ❤

The song never gets old.. so much emotion in one song
When I first heard this song it struck a nerve in me. I cried for the profound melancholy sadness it evokes. And then I listened to it on loop for hours. Whenever and I need a hard cry I give it repeated listen like I used to do with Beethoven's "Ode to Joy". It truly is a beautifully written song that will remain on my playlist forever.

I love this song. I hear the song each day.
My interpretation of the song: The song talks about simply wanting a mundane life and having struggles every human being goes through instead of having big dreams like society expects. But it means so much more than that. He wrote this song with this meaning, but pursues a career of the polar opposite. He's a singer and we all know how difficult it is to succeed in the vast field of music. Big dreams come, not only with hope, but with frustration, doubt, and sadness. Sometimes the negatives get the best of us. I think he wrote this song while feeling frustrated with how his career was going. So he wrote this song as if to say, "You know what, I just want a normal life. I fucking give up." He sings "let me go" to all the people who were pushing him to keep going even though he felt like he was losing hope. That's why the song sounds so tired and sad. Because even though he's singing these words, he doesn't mean them. He just feels tired of fighting so hard. And he feels tired of carrying the weight of people's expectations. If he really meant what he was singing, it'd have a rebellious tone instead of a sad one. He felt like he was giving up on his dream. Ironically enough, his dream came true after this song. He and his fellow band members became successful. Maybe that shows that even when you feel like you're at your lowest low, there's always hope, and you should never lose sight of that. This song was such a big hit because pretty much anyone can relate to what he's feeling when he writes this song. Everyone has expectations surrounding them and everyone has had a moment where they just felt like giving up. In the music video they portray a man that feels that way too, but without a happy ending. Even though he truly loves bull-riding, his family has expectations of him to be more than just a bull rider. But he wants to prove to them that he can succeed with his dream. When he fails to fulfill those expectations, they leave him. In the end, they show him sitting all alone looking at pictures of himself when he was young and full of hope. He feels sad that he seems to have lost that hope and failed to fulfill his dream. And that's where the music video ends because, unlike the band, not many people get to have a happy ending.

those times, i did not have any memory of real life (childhood memories) , but now i remember, my struggle was so big for me that, i escaped to the world of books. i remember all of them. i remember that, i lived in neverland, i lived in hogwarts, i lived in brazil with zeze and i lived in so many other universes/ countries/ cities.
there are times that we feel we are stuck somewhere. i learned to remember when those times comes, there is an exit of compassion+patient from those traps, althought i feel sad time to time, compassion makes my sadness free.
when i was depressive, i was more creative with my writing tho, they were more like ''dramatic'' style. now i lost the drama effect of my practice. so those who are depressed, write it, sing it, play it, perform it! it goes away when you r are better haha :D

Worst day of my life taking my black Lab in. Had him since he was a pup in my bachelor days. I got married to my girl later on, and told her me and my dog were a “package deal”. We had him 3 more years before it was time to say goodbye. That was 16 years ago.

When a film slightly changes your outlook on life, it's time well spent. Boyhood plus this song was just pure perfection.
This is the soundtrack to one of the greatest films of all time because Boyhood is truly that good. Since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind came out over 10 years ago, there is no film I would recommend more. Watch it and laugh, cry, feel embarrassed, jealous, overjoyed, nostalgic, empathetic, motivated and moved to your very core. Unlike most films produced through the pressures of hollywood, Boyhood connects with the audience through honesty instead of exploitation; and of course Richard Linklaters effort and heart-on-his-sleeve approach to the films creation make it all the more special. More than anything, its a film that will stand the test of time. I'm sure that given the appropriate amount of time, critics will compare this great piece of art amongst the best since the dawn of American cinema around 100 years ago.

This is one of those songs. Classic. I can't watch the vid without choking up. I so feel his sadness and "lostness," questioning it all, still trying to savor the little moments and be a good man, a good human being. I want to buy him a drink, tell him it's going to be okay, and let him know I feel his trouble. As someone notes, this song brings both hope and sadness at the same time. I lost my best friend a week ago... he committed suicide. He was struggling with his job and he quitted. It was just too tough. I remember the things he told he was doing, the many hours and the things that he dealt with, just holding on... After that he was struggling to get a new job, he went from Mexico to Colorado for a new job opportunity and that's when it happened... He was just 35 years old. I will remember him with this song. It feels that sometimes life is getting harder and harder and you just don't want to be anybody's hero, and don't want to be a big man. Sometimes life gets really hard and you sometimes you forget about family and friends... Please ask your friends and family how are they doing, be in touch with them because you never know if its going to be the last time.

This song moved me to tears. I'm not sure why. It's small town poetry. The way the music combines with the humanity of the lyrics...I don't know...it hit something inside of me. I can count on one hand the amount of times a song has made me cry, this one holds a special place for me.
