Mate this is sick great work. Had me a bit shook at the intro because I had a Vito that I had parked in that Woolies car park that I was building similar stuff in.
I need something like this for my line of work I know this is kind of a pipe dream with current technology but how hard do you think it would be to integrate license plate reading but more importantly vehicle make and model with color may not always be able to see the license plate but you can always see that it is a blue Chevy truck
There's already plenty of libraries available for license plate recognition and I'm sure there's a database lookup service to match the plate to a model.
Awesome work! Have you thought about connecting the solar panels and the battery to obtain information from them and see it from your cell phone? How do you configure your RF transmitter to unlock the van doors?
Thanks mate! The solar controller does have a coms port and I was considering it but I'm going to save that fun for my next van project! The raspberry pi uses a 433mhz transmitter to send the unlock door code to the central locking system. If you need any more info on this let me know 🙏

This is incredible i’d love this sort of thing in my van. I know nothing about coding but know about 12v so I could follow this video mostly. My question is: how tricky is it to get into all this stuff so I could build my own system? It appeals to me for the security features, customisability, cost (free to run I assume) and I should think the individual components don’t cost that much as it’s diy assembly.
