That one-take monologue/word vomit from Sarah Goldberg is straight up phenomenal. And then the hard cut to: "HEY IKE, YA SHITBIRD! YOU WANT A LITTLE PIIIIIIIEEEE???!" Such a brilliant scene lol
@@franciscooctavius5957 this is the problem with Disney, the characters are safe. nothing flawed or complex, no personality, not a real person. there are little adjectives to describe Galadriel from the rings of power or captain marvel and their personality. Sally is 10/10
the female casting director during Barry's audition is actually Allison Jones, who cast shows like The Fresh Prince, The Office, Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, The Good Place, and a lot more
I love how Sally's conflict here is treated so realistically She dreamed of 'making it', but now wants to do serious stuff and not dumb fake-progressive hollywood nonsense and so turned down her chance, yet at the same time she's still up front about how jealous she is about Barry getting to do the exact same kind of stuff because he stumbled into similar opportunities to do dumb hollywood schlock and just went with it A lesser show would have her secretly resent Barry for getting ahead in life because of sexism or something, but they took the more nuanced approach, and I respect that a great deal
This episode solidifies most people's hate for Sally, but of course, that's the point, she represents the attitude of so many in entertainment. But at the same time her attitude is she put in the work, where is her reward, but she can't fathom an appreciation for someone other than herself. And LBH, almost everyone is her, cause when someone new comes along and takes your shine or opportunities, most folks will get jealous.
My hype for season 3 has been sky high for two years T_T Great reactions; I adore this show, this episodes is one of my favourites... lookin' forward to seeing your reaction to the last episode... hoooo boooyy... (PS I love Sally so much and my heart breaks for her)
people say that this episode made them hate sally but for me it was the opposite, i love her cause she's honest about how she feels and im glad she told barry instead of just being angry to him and not saying anything, also its understandable with everything she's going and went through, she's a great character
I didn't like Sally far before this episode and while i can not say that i like her more afterwards, this episode really made me appreciate her as a character. The beauty of this weird show is that in the end, i truly do not like any of these horrible people on screen. But i do like the characters, and season 2 really gave Sally more of a personality and let her join those misfits.
Same. I completely understood where she was coming from and she clearly recognizes that she's being jealous and that its being exasperated by all the other shit she's gone through, but just had to get that off her chest.
You don't know that yet, they have finished writing and started filming season 3, and have a good idea of what they'd do if the show is renewed for a season 4. Fingers crossed it will maintain the quality of the first 2 seasons
Holy crap that was an intense episode. I could literally feel the stress in some of these scenes. It weaves humor in with some really dark shit so damn well and the cliffhangers in this show are simply brilliant.
Captain Marvel, Mighty Thor, She-Hulk. They write them so poorly & they come off as annoying/cringeworthy at times. I think the only recent female Marvel heroes I’ve actually cared for are Shuri, Gamora, & Nebula.
the sally character's self involved, neurotic monologue is 10/10. its pure gold. she is supposed to be helping barry for her audition but goes on a rant, actress totally nails the delivery. GIVE ME COMPLEX CHARACTERS HOLLYWOOD! and yeah that movie sally turned down really sounds generic and out of touch i.e. Rings of Power and The Witcher and the charlies's angel recent movie.
cause she was absolutely exhausted emotionally and jealous and she accepted that. jealousy is not a good thing but it’s one of the most natural human reactions ever. take that with her whole arc of “I want to be better than I was, I want to prove myself, I wanna go far in this industry, I’m gonna break my ass of to get there” and then she gets offered revenge porn (which she respectably declines because it doesn’t align with her morals and own personal experiences) and Barry lands a film just because he’s 6’2. I mean GOD DAMN IT. She was angry at herself for many things and then her jealousy for Barry’s thing just was the cherry on top. Yeah, she IS making it about her which is not weird in her as she is a very self centered person, but your question has many answers, she’s just not irrational and completely crazy. I mean she said it herself “and I want to be happy for you.. I’m happy for you of course I want you getting parts.. but I’m so fucking jealous”.

Simply amazing. I really can’t stand Sally as a person but the actress is doing such a damn good job at making me feel that way. Amazing scene.

The ending of this episode is so intense.
The revenge of the accordion player.
It's not that he betrayed hank.
It's that he mocks him with his accordion after that.
Aww no reaction to the best line of the episode: “I am optometrist by nature.”
