Anyone who says this is an improvement over a wheelchair has never actually used a wheelchair long-term, as I have for the last 15 years. A good, lightweight wheelchair is a far more practical means of getting around that this robot will ever be in my lifetime. I owe my current quality of life to my wheelchair. Seeing this reminded me of when I struggled mightily to get around on a walker. And call me back when this becomes something that people who are not SF Bay Area yuppies can afford.
This is so awesome...no words. There are actually a few companies making exoskeleton like contraptions for pple with paralysis as a wheelchair alternative at this point, Argo's ReWalk from Israel was the first, I think
I am struck by two things: the wonderful improvement in people's lives made possible by this whole branch of technology. Contrastingly, the impact of bad decision making. "DANGER: Don't Do Dumb Things". Dude, don't try to free-climb a three story building. I'm glad he's here to tell the tale.
Considering that wheelchairs are essentially ancient and still cost ~$180, I'd say for the benefits and effects, the price isn't too insane. Also keep in mind this is still new technology.
$180? It's a few thousand dollars minimum for a decent wheelchair. A good one is $3500 up to $6000. But you are right. The price for this thing is not insane and I bet people will buy it just for the improved quality of life.
it helps to have a family with money. 10 meters =32 feet OMG he's lucky to be alive...and no viable scars after falling on your neck?? Unbelievable. Has to be more to this story than what we are viewing.
All most all emerging technology come with that problem. Refinement over time results in reduction of cost due to technology upgrade and market dynamics.
seeing a handicapped fellow like that being impacted by his first time walking makes me cry. this needs to become accessible to all

Things like this are why one should never underestimate the human race. There is nothing we cannot overcome, especially in today's world.

Would you please add good quality captions (human-made, not auto captions) as you are leaving out many hundreds millions of deaf/hoh people. Thanks!

Love this.
If Seth Rogen and Jimmy Kimmel had a lovechild, it would be named Nathan Harding.
