I wanted to jump into VR and I opted to pay $500 for the Quest 3 instead of $300 for a Quest 2 that will soon be outdated. I have no regrets and am looking forward to all the updates and enhancements in the next few years.
they should of included a clip on the side of the Elite Strap with battery like what was on the one for Quest 2, so the cable is just hanging off the side of the Strap, a clip on the side would hold it better in place
That's so annoying when support goes quiet. Looking forward to hearing how the battery issues get resolved. Hopefully it isn't something like running with lower graphics, because that's one of the best parts of the Quest 3 for me.
I have the same extended battery issue. Meta have said they are sending a replacement and I don’t need to return the old version. Still waiting on delivery though so fingers crossed they actually send it.
@@ChrisBTechMy advice would be to hit all the social media profiles you got and shout them out along with the fact they've stopped communicating. Seriously some of the best advise I can give any consumer being *icked about, is to be as vocal as you need to be (there are ways to do this without sounding like a jerk). Both my Quest 1 & 2, and the devkits all had issues and I went through the same problem with support. After vocalizing my issues on their forums, as well as social media and linking the threads they started taking my issue a lot more seriously and I've had a few replacements even past the grace period. A few back and forth emails and WhatsApp messages and now they’ve also stopped responding to me. No replacement and now they completely ignore me. Never buying from the Meta store again. It’s so bad what they’ve done here.
I was speaking with someone in population one. They told me that their quest 3 pass through was incredibly clear. He said he could ready his phone perfectly as well as any other text. Also he told me that his screen recordings looked virtually the same as what he saw while having the headset on. However, I describe my pass through as complete garbage compared to screen recordings so his opinion was that mine was defective. I almost want to buy another q3 to see if it’s the same or not.
I’d suggest that the lighting of the room is most likely the factor here. Most of the time for me to read iPhone text I need to screenshot it then go to photos and enlarge it. Try turning the brightness down or up, as the cameras adjust for the room brightness and your phone basically does the opposite.
Ditto on the lighting if you haven't tried that yet. In low light mine is grainier but if you turn several lights in the room on looks pretty good and I'm able to read my phone screen in either situation low light or regular light. I can even use it pretty much in the dark with the controllers just no pass through. Also to the poster of this video. Did you own a quest 2? The reason I ask is because hand tracking from me on the quest 3 is way better so far than on the quest too, but it still shows a little wandering when I'm holding my hand still so I think that's kind of normal and I'm not sure if they'll be able to work that completely out.

sometimes the battery on the Elite Strap wouldn't say in the menu it was connected when I had it plugged into the Strap and a little while ago, I played Espire 2 for about a hour with the battery plugged into the Elite Strap and it says it was charging, it was still charging when I stopped playing the game, I unplugged the battery from the Strap just before I shut the headset off, if I don't use the headset for a while or so, I have to charge it again with the battery Strap connected to it, everywhere online is saying it is a software issue with the headset, and a upcoming software update is supposed to fix it, just out of curiosity, can you leave the battery on the Elite Strap plugged in while you are using the headset or is it better to leave it unplugged when it is fully charged?, I always just left the battery on the Elite Strap plugged in when it was fully charged on the Quest 2, while I would spend a long time on a game, the battery on the Elite Strap would go down first while charging the headset and when there was no more juice in it left, I would unplug it from the headset and continue playing a game and then the battery on the headset would go down after that, I would let the battery on the headset itself go down to about 30% or lower and then shut the headset off after that, then charge the headset and Elite Strap with battery again, and I have had my Quest 2 with Elite Strap and battery for a couple of years and it still works good and holds a full charge
I think I will stick with my quest 1 my friend I think they just wanted it out for Christmas and its not completely ready and with not that many games they can keep it my friend as for not responding to your emails I have lost trust with them
It's hard to say. Some people are even saying that the Bobo batteries are not lasting very long or adding much time. My elite battery is still not working and meta will no longer respond to my emails about returning it or replacing it

Good thing with Bobo headstraps, you can just replace the batteries any time, while the elite headstrap it's permanently attached. Thank you again
No dead or stuck pixels? No visible inconsistency in the backlighting ("mura")? I'm keen to upgrade, but all the reports of defective units are stopping me from pulling the trigger. Mostly because there's people reporting having replaced multiple units in a row with defective displays, which would have to indicate whole faulty batches and/or incredibly poor quality control. Only purchase options here are Amazon and Meta's online stores, so returns would be a major hassle at best (from experience). Have you used a Quest 2? It's disappointing that your hand tracking looks worse than on the Quest 2. Both bringing up the initial menu and also moving windows looks considerably worse than on my Quest 2 (I'd have hoped the extra cameras and depth sensor would have improved it). I did notice that you didn't seem to be using your hands flat with your palms out when trying to move the windows. Which is how I have to do it on the Quest 2. I have no issue with moving windows, scrolling or selections (although the auto aim is a bit too aggressive for my liking). Bringing up the palm up right hand menu can sometimes be a bit hit or miss, but again I have less issues than you show in this video.
Pixels are all looking good, none are dead. Mura is not something I've noticed but maybe I am not sensitive to it. For hand tracking, I did think maybe there is a learning curve... but I've been using it almost daily and the hand tracking is still jank. If anything, it is too reliant on your hands being in certain positions to work correctly, thus not easy or user friendly.
I think we (and maybe Meta too) are still trying to figure out what type of gaming company they want to be. We know Xbox and PS would both sell for a loss in the hopes to make money on the game side. Microsoft was a software company trying to make hardware. Sony made devices and struggled with good software. Both have grown over the years. Meta -- a software company is still trying to figure out how much $ they want to invest in this part of their business.... Maybe if the menu and loading screens had ads they would invest more into it.

Yeah that's crazy. I couldn't imagine it being that clear as I have the same experience as you.

I recommend the Charging Dock when you get your new Elite Head Strap, it’s so elegant and easy to charge

When you plug in the headset, you just have to press the power button once, and it should go to standby mode

The cursor moves because your fingers move. Not a lot, but it is normal and you never noticed it until the Q3.
