Excellent content. Can’t you slow the German translation down? Just a tad.

"I speak French" is translated here as "Ich spreche Französisch". This is incorrect and it should be "Ich kann Französisch". "I speak French" in English means I am able to speak French and not "I am speaking French". Also this video is only A2 level and not intermediate level.

Are you German speaker? You are incorrect. “Kann” is a modal verben, you should have said it with followed by infinitive verben. Theres no way you can say “Ich kann Franzosisch.”

@@andreekap6963you are both right. Yes the correct way is "ich kann Französisch sprechen" but native speakers sometimes remove the verb when it is obvious what they are saying. "Ich kann Französisch (sprechen)" or for example "ich muss nach Hause (gehen)" or simply "ich muss (gehen)"

Never heard (or read) such rubbish. "Ich spreche Französisch (or: Deutsch, or: Englisch, for that matter ...) is absolutely current and usual in German - meaning indeed, "I speak French" (or whatever language).
"Ich kann Deutsch" (or whatever language) means: "I master German", or: "I'm able to understand/ or: speak German" - but in a casual / unlearnt way of expressing it - the more elevated expression would be "Ich beherrsche Deutsch" (yet this would sound very arrogant or high flying ... yet this is what is meant by "ich kann Deutsch").
As for the objection that this is a modal verb, of course this is true and correct ... yet the German language has a tendency of using "modal verbs only" (without infinitive) in some cases - so it would sound a bit artificial - and untypical - saying "ich kann Deutsch sprechen" (it would betray the foreign speaker - by its structure ...) - so - just with a view to grammar - one could, of course, say "ich kann Deutsch" (which however - again - sounds arrogant and high flying ... like "I master German") - so the solution "ich spreche Deutsch" might always be better.
As for the turn "Ich kann (+ infinitive)" in German - like, for example, "ich kann Skifahren / ... Schlittschuh fahren / ... Klavier spielen / ... Flöte spielen" etc. - "I know skiing / skating / playing piano / the flute" - this is more or less a children's language - or casual language - which tells nothing about the level of proficiency. But it could be understood like "mastering / mastership" ... although it doesn't tell anything about the degree of proficiency.
