  • An apartheid askari has told eNCA he was given no choice but to turn on his own. Tlhomedi Mfalapitsa blames the ANC for that. He says the ANC betrayed him -which led him into the apartheid security forces' trap. eNCA anchor Masego Rahlaga has more.

The ANC was guilty of many murders and tortures on their comrades in the neighbouring countries.
    And its still ongoing.

The journalist is young, she doesn't understand many of the finer details. She should read the book "Askari: A Story of Collaboration and Betrayal" by Jacob Dlamini to gain a basic understanding of the subject first or study the TRC transcripts.
Let me just say this: the apartheid security police was very vile and would brutally torture to death any former MK member who refused to cooperate on their terms. Askaris are not primarily perpetrators, they are first and foremost victims.
They should go for the real culprits, the security police and SAP commanders and colonels, even the then minister of law and order, who are ultimately responsible for the atrocities! These askaris were the lowest of the lowest in the apartheid police hierarchy.

His story so far is full of holes. How did the ANC betray him? Why was he arrested in Botswana? Why does he choose to go back to SA in the hands of the enemy rather than do his time in Botswana?

It is no secret that the ANC killed and raped many People. There are many documentaries on TH-cam. Camp Quatro is one example. The ANC killed thousands more Vlaxk People compared to the few hundred that were killed by the NP government. Before You attack Me, do some research. You will be shocked.

@@user-of9of All I am saying is that there are holes in the story. Making assumptions that he was raped or whatever does not even explain why the Botswana authorities arrested him and why they with his consent and preference opted to be arrested by the enemy forces.
I am aware of accounts related to atrocities committed by the ANC but trying to suggest that the Apartheid atrocities are better is tragic. But I am not surprised.

This is definitely an aspect that deserves further investigation. Would explain why the likes of Eugene De Kock could operate so freely on Botswana soil killing Black South African expats with impunity!

The system and the times were radically different and terrifying. It's so hard to try judge so many years later. Victims have the right to retribution, but similarly, justice must be fair and humane.
Putting the past behind cannot be selective. We either choose that path holistically or we choose another path altogether.
Only someone who has truly suffered and overcome may be able to judge this.

How do you take somebody child/children to be brutally killed like that. You are not a humanbeing!!! In my mind a dedicated comrade would have served his sentence in Botswana, than work for the people's oppressors. It is sickening when somebody is a coward and looks around for others to blame for their evil, cruel deeds. We lost four lives, not just south africa, those children's families lost their loved ones and to hear him utter all that crap, is sickening, real stomach turning sickening, how would you have felt if those were your children!!!! Not a word of sorry! Rather what we witnessed was an old man thinking he is smart, running rings around us!!! Sies man!!!
