I normally listen to your posts but these short videos are something else! Whilst you give such vivid descriptions on the audio, having the video as well is a bonus. They are brilliant, please keep up this great work.
That was brilliant,Paul. A friend's Great Uncle died there in 1915,and is commemorated on the Menin Gate. He served with The Ox and Bucks. We never knew about the tree frames and also Noel Chevasse, when we visited. He too was an Oxford lad. God bless them all.
on my bucket list to visit some more great war sites (i did visit vimy ridge during a family holiday many years ago) but this is as close as i'm getting at the minute....very well filmed and narrated i must add...
I enjoy these videos Paul, reminds me of the times I walked these same battle sites pre-covid. The removal of my Hull - Zeebrugge ferry due to Brexit has taken away my easy access to the Western front. One hour by car from the port to Tyne Cot made for easy touring of the British areas of the front running right down to the Somme...
I'm not convinced that's an electric fence. The jug ring looks more like a twisting loop - where a length of wire goes through the loop and then it's twisted to tension the wire.
I really enjoy myself following your videos. But in this episode you failed to tell many things. There are the remnants of a mine explosion directly behind the monument. And when you study the spot on google earth you can see even the outlines of the trenches.
Hi Rudy - the craters are discussed in another video on the Channel. I did a walk from Railway Wood to Bellewaarde and turned it into three separate videos.
Love these Paul. Terrific production values. Photos, video, etc. Just fantastic.
Thanks, I really appreciate those comments.

Thank you, Adrian - really appreciate those comments. Some more coming next week!
Well done. Enjoyed watching.
Thank you!
Thank you, beautifully presented.
Thank you!
I'm really enjoying these videos, Paul. Thank you so much.
Glad you like them!
Thanks. We'll be staying four nights at Bellewaerde Farm next week, cycling in the Ypres Salient.
Fantastic - there’s a few videos on the channel about this area. Hope you have a memorable visit!
Thank you so much. Its so great to see these places on video also! 😊
Thanks!
Talbot House had an exposition called Cheerio Darling. It told the story of Lt Boothby and Edith.
Indeed, Filip.
Thanks Paul, it’s about time I went back there
Thanks!
Thank you Paul for an interesting video and talk.
Thanks!
These videos have me itching in anticipation of my trip to Ypres in a few months!
Nice one, I’m back over again soon.
This is a favourite walk for me too. The June 1915 battle has been forgotten but is so easy to follow.
Thanks, Stuart - a fascinating place to visit as you say.

Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Wild to see objects from the war still used over 100 years later. Great video Paul.
Thanks, Brad! It’s quite common across the battlefields!
@@OldFrontLine You're welcome. I bet!
Brad, down at Messines I have seen barbed wire spigots being used as fencing. And I took a pic of that rum jar a few weeks ago!
@@stuartburbridge8091 Very cool!
Superb. Subscribed. Looking forward to more of these. Thank you.
Thanks, and thank you for subscribing! Hopefully another one next week!
Well presented, clear and precise. Thank you. Subscribed,

Thanks, yes the loss of that route is a great shame and I’m sure has affected tourism to Flanders. Hope you get the chance to return soon.
Verry well done.🇦🇺👍🙏
Thanks 👍
My great grandfather ptv alexander craig died here on the 16th june 1915 royal scots fusiliers no know grave but on menien gate memorial rip
Thanks for sharing your connection to this battlefield - it was the scene of so many battles often at such high cost.
Thank you for that - from an Ex Sapper 👍🏻
Thanks!

It most certainly is when the cattle are in that field! Which sadly is less and less these days.
Hurrah for the CRE
Indeed.
